Barca have narrowed the gap between themselves and
Marketing to two points. They're slowly beginning to look something like their old selves though with slightly different characters, TH and Bojan now sharing the position of the third fantastico in place of really-seriously-trying-again-but-not-there-yet-Ronaldinho, alongside Messi ( :bow: ) and Samuel Eto'o returning to his old imperious form.
Atletico have been their bogey team - think they did a double on Barca last season, some kid with fleckles and a bad haircut scored - but their recent form has been patchy to say the least and they are without Simao (injured) and Maniche (flogged to - Inter?) - I mean, they lost to Bolton ffs. We'll see if they can lift themselves for the big match.
Now, Atletico are playing Barca this weekend, right? Sport carried this pic this week;

The guy holding the Marketing shirt is Enrique Cerezo, Atletico president. The goon in the blue shirt next to him is Ramon Calderon, Marketing president. The guy on the right wearing the damn shirt is Angel Maria Villar, the president of Spanish football federation. Very cosy, isn't it? :whistle: So cosy that Calderon later had to have himself photographed in an Atleti shirt, and Spanish FA give the go ahead to let Catalunya to play a friendly against Argentina.
Madrid have lost three out of their last four league matches and four out of five in all competitions.
Recre are turning out to be Reading of La Liga this season, toothless without their two star players of last season Uche (gone to Getafe) and Cazorla (ditto Villarreal) and hovering only a couple of points from the drop zone. Van Horseface is out, Guti doubtful but Robinho is back.
Espanyol v Valencia has the potential to be the highlight of the weekend, with Espanyol's recent stuttering form (they've lost 3 on a trot) and Valencia's improvement narrowing the gap between them to four points. Tamudo is still out for Espanyol while Villa and (especially) Joaquin looked sharp for Valencia in their mid-week Copa del Rey match vs Barca.
Finally, let's not lose the sight of the dark horse of this season's La Liga,
Sevilla. After their early season travails, they are firmly back on winning form and I saw a stat somewhere that, in a table based on the result since the New Year, they'd be on top. Luis Fabiano is running away with the Pichichi this season, having scored a staggering 28 goals in all competitions (though strangely quiet when he's in my Champions League FF Team :angry: ) and Fredi Kanoute is the runner up with 18 goals.
Depor are in the drop zone. I don't see them getting themselves out this weekend.
