Description: 9th march

Alias - March 1, 2008 05:10 PM (GMT)
My first match thread :partytime:

RVP and Rosicky might be back for this so I expect nothing less than a win.

Going to this one.

Expect a backlash, we're going to thump them and hoopefully we rub it in thier c*nt of a managers face.

Marc Overmars - March 2, 2008 10:55 AM (GMT)
0-1 last minute winner of bendtners arse will do.

Czech Out Rosicky - March 2, 2008 12:56 PM (GMT)
awful pitch will hurt us, gonna be a toughey IMO

Marc Overmars - March 2, 2008 01:06 PM (GMT)
Is it still crap? The sun is popping out now and then, hopefully it won't cut up so much. Certainly a tough fixture though, they always give us a game. Bruce has got them grinding out results.

RVP Left Foot - March 2, 2008 08:53 PM (GMT)
RVPmay be back for this one, as for Thomas , dont hold your breath

Wigan will try andmake their pitch as bad as possible to stop our passing game

0-1

AW/RM's YoungGuns - March 2, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
Hmmm this is a great game to get the rythm back into the squad - a good win here and it'll do us the world of good.......I rekon we should win this with ease, however the outcome of Tuesday's CL game will have a say on the result.

3-1 us

RVP Left Foot - March 3, 2008 10:30 AM (GMT)
Think Gallas is suspended for this match has 5 yellows

From online gooner

As well as being a Gooner, I also follow Bradford Bulls rugby league team. We played at Wigan last night in terrible conditions with driving rain. The pitch was an absolute bog with players frequently slipping as they tried to accelerate; it was full of divots made by the players’ feet; at the end of the game it wasn’t even fit for rugby league.

Next Sunday, Arsenal visit Wigan. Do not expect a flat pitch; do not expect a grass covered pitch; do not expect an even bounce. If I was Mr Wenger I would get the lads down to Hackney Marshes for some practice (after drawing with AC Milan). They are going to get a hell of a shock when they see what they've got to tread on at Wigan.

Great hey !!

Cripps - March 5, 2008 12:05 PM (GMT)
Almunia

Sagna Gallas Senderos Clichy

Hleb Cesc Flamini Diaby

Ade Walcott

Ive got a funny feeling Wenger may rest some players though and start the likes of Hoyte and Denilson.

Any news on the injury front?

Synergetic - March 5, 2008 01:32 PM (GMT)
Surely RVP should be available to start?

RVP may be able to start, but this would not seem to be the ideal game for him to return in given the state of JJB Marshes. I think we will need a bit of brute force in this one anyway so resting clichy and RVP and going for a 4-4-1-1 may work.

---------------------- Almunia----------------

-Sagna-----Toure-----Senderos-----Gallas-

-Walcott---Flamini----Fabregas------Diaby

---------------Hleb----------------------------

-------------------Adebayor-----------------

RVP Left Foot - March 5, 2008 04:45 PM (GMT)
5,000 Going up their, my mate tickets came today

Czech Out Rosicky - March 5, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
we must go into this and do the job

no overconfidence as anything but 3 points will take away what we did last night

gunner - March 5, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
Is there a starting place for Van Persie? or do u guys think he should be benched? I hope and want Theo to start upfront with Adebayor, Wigan are going to defend for there lives...lefts hope for a 1st half goal!

Synergetic - March 6, 2008 03:21 AM (GMT)
I'd go with:

------------------------------------------Almunia------------------------------------------

Sagna--------------------Senderos------------------Gallas------------------------Clichy

Walcott---------------------Flamini-----------------Fabregas-----------------------Eboue

------------------------------------------Hleb---------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------Adebayor-----------------------------------------

And we'll have RVP and Bendtner on the bench if we need them.

Everyone assumed Milans pitch would be shit as well, it seemed fine to me. A win is imperrative at the weekend if we're to maintain an assault on the prem title. Also it puts pressure on Mancs and Chelsea, who have FA cup games to play.

went there first season they were up, friendly bunch good banter and they had an ok pitch then. Personally I'd go for Bendy and Ade up front, the pitch is so poor we will need to win in the air rather than pass to goal, get RvP to have one reserve match and comeback against Boro

they started playing rugby on it and the rugby fans were calling it shite so I think fair so say we can expect it to be poor :(

It had only just been relayed though and also they don't play rugby in the San Siro, well I don't think.

RVP Left Foot - March 6, 2008 10:12 AM (GMT)
Very poor pitch, see page 2

Toure de Emirates - March 6, 2008 06:28 PM (GMT)
This might be quite hard, especially with Wigan's poor pitch.

I'm going for:

Wigan 0-1 Arsenal

Adebayor

AW/RM's YoungGuns - March 6, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
I agree the pitch is going to play a big part in this. But im confident we can overcome it.

We'll be boosted by our victory but we can't let that get to our heads - the race for the title starts this weekend.

------------- Almunia----------------

Losing Walcott and Diaby leaves us very very short on the wings, since this is Eboue's last suspended game.

Get the two big guys upfront to hold the ball up on a crappy pitch. also to cross the ball to. RVP to have a run out in the last 15-20 minutes when hopefully the game is won by then.

You do wish Rosicky was more like Hleb. The guy is pretty much a constant in our starting line up, and hardly ever gets injured.

Czech Out Rosicky - March 6, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
sagna and clichy are our width and must get plenty of crosses in

I've got mine, they should have come today or if not they'll probably come tomorrow.

Marc Overmars - March 6, 2008 10:43 PM (GMT)
I went to this fixture last year, nice locals, but terrible atmosphere, might as well of been a home game for us. 'Spose it doesn't help being a Rugby town though.

Mr Brighterside - March 7, 2008 12:02 AM (GMT)
no eboue!

:woohoo:

Marc Overmars - March 7, 2008 12:08 AM (GMT)
Goatface is waxing lyrical:

QUOTE
I thought that Arsenal's performance at AC Milan on Tuesday was the best performance by an English team in the Champions League since Manchester United's victory over Juventus in Turin in 1999.

Milan are a team who rarely lose at home and have fantastic experience throughout the team - but Arsenal's performance was an object lesson in how to play football in 2008.

Wigan are big and strong and can be a handful but Arsenal's win over Milan was a result from which they can kick on for the rest of the season and I expect them to leave the JJB Stadium with three points.

Verdict: 0-2
