P.S. Mods, merge the Six Nations thread into this one if you wish.

Confirmed, Martin Johnson is the new England Rugby Manager:

There`s a leader if you ever saw one :good:

A leader with no experience

England will be destroyed this summer :(

McNamara That Ghost... - April 16, 2008 07:38 PM (GMT)
Good.

He'll be a natural I reckon. Very eloquent and tactically aware - certainly impressed me with his punditry during the World Cup.

Toure de Emirates - April 19, 2008 05:57 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure that Johnson will make a good England manager. I think that Brian Ashton did a good job, getting us to the World Cup Final was amazing considering nobody gave us a chance.

New Zealand lost at home to France 22-27.

Lions 7-0 down inside 5 mins...The Boks looked way to strong in the drive.

Elche - June 20, 2009 01:18 PM (GMT)
Bloody hell 10 mins 10-0

I might turn off now.

Elche - June 20, 2009 03:29 PM (GMT)
I did turn off...turned on at 26-7 down and thought about watching something else...

Lucky I didn't the Lions played brilliantly to make it a game...and had the Boks rattled.

In the end it was still a defeat but 26-21 was better than it looked at one time.

Best Lions player.....Englands Tom Croft with 2 trys.

I don't give a shit about rugby but I heard about this story today and am absolutely amazed at the nature of this. Could you imagine the drama made over a football player doing the same?

QUOTE
Directors of rugby, head coaches and team managers from over 35 clubs across eight countries participating this season’s Heineken Cup and European Challenge Cup competitions will assemble in Paris for a two-day conference that starts on Tuesday.

It will mark the first time that Harlequins will come face to face with the Heineken Cup rivals they attempted to cheat by using a fake blood capsule to feign an injury to one of their players, Tom Williams, against Leinster in last season’s quarter-final at the Stoop.

As well as hitting Richards with a three-year ban, an independent appeals committee for the European Rugby Cup Limited also fined Harlequins €300,000 (£259,000) last Tuesday and handed out a two-year ban to physio Steph Brennan for his role in the cover-up. Williams saw a year ban reduced to four months after he revealed the roles played by Richards and Brennan as well as the club’s cover-up.

And while Leinster have refused to comment as the controversy has unfolded, it seems certain that fake blood injuries will dominate the agenda in Paris, which could influence the ERC’s current review of their regulations.

Although the conference is an annual event, it is the first time that it will solely be focused on disciplinary procedures and match officiating. Among the keynote speakers will be national referee managers Ed Morrison (England) and Owen Doyle (Ireland), ERC’s new match official performance manager Donal Courtney as well as Professor Lorne Crerar, chairman of the ERC disciplinary panel, and the Rugby Football Union’s disciplinary officer Jeff Blackett.

The opening day of the conference is likely to coincide with the publication of the ERC’s judgment into the ‘Bloodgate’ scandal. The document detailing the original hearing is understood to be 79 pages in length and while the judgment of the appeal hearing will not be as long, as it only lasted 14 hours, it is expected to reveal the full details of the incident, including Williams’ allegation that he was cut afterwards as part of the club’s cover-up.

Richards, however, on Thursday night refused to reveal who was involved with the decision and the act of making the cut to the Harlequins wing in the changing room afterwards.

“I knew post-match that he [Williams] had a cut in his mouth but how he got that I don’t know,” said Richards. “Who cut him or whether he cut himself, I don’t know. It is something that happened behind closed doors and I wasn’t party to that.”

On Wednesday ERC said it had requested further information on four other games in which Harlequins had previously tried to use fake blood to gain an advantage.

On Thursday, Harlequins chief executive Mark Evans said that the club would co-operate with official inquiries by ERC and the RFU. He has committed to share the findings of an internal review into the cheating episode, but appeared to suggest that he had not been asked for further information about the other games.

“That is not correct,” he said when asked how the club would respond to ERC’s request. “I am not going to comment on what was said in the appeals committee hearing, we regard that as confidential.”

As of Thursday night, the RFU had not received any documentation regarding the four games.

Some piss poor selections in the 23 from Jonno, but a few good ones too.

Good to see Moody back, Wilko/Geraghty could be a class 10/12 and Lawes & Erinle off the bench are exciting.

Biggest England side in donkey's years & over 40 players out injured between the 2 sides.

I reckon we'll nick it by 5 points, a few more against the Argies but beaten by N.Z.

Gubby-Allen - November 6, 2009 10:20 PM (GMT)
The missus has written tomorrow off for me. England R.U, then Arsenal, then England R.L, the David Haye - what a day.

Only one I'm not confident on is the Rugby League. World class forwards, but could get massacred in the backs.
