Title: Huntelaar

Cygan's Mother - April 7, 2008 05:19 PM (GMT)
I heard a rumour he's joining...for £11.5 million. :coffee:

I've heard that the source is wa.nk though. :good:

He's a goalscoring machine, but I can't see it happening.

So was Kezman, so it's no guarantee.

Man Utd will get him to replace Saha.

That's a good point. Not saying he wouldn't be able to score goals in this league (RVN adapted to the English league, having scored many in the Dutch league) but it's not guaranteed.

I never rated Kezman, he never looked as good as RVN or Huntelaar IMO despite his goals, I'm convinced Huntelaar would be a big hit though, he just seems such a great goalpoacher, his positioning and movement is great.

Mmm, but you also thought was Aliadiere would make it at Arsenal...

Cripps - April 7, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
Kezman had a better goal record at PSV than RVN regardless of how he looks on the pitch

If injuries hadn't take their toll I'm sure he would have, he's certainly got talent.

Quality Dutch players tend to adapt well to the English game on the whole.

Rkane - April 7, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
Kuyt has banged them in too hasn't he.

The Dutch league is shite, so the ridiculous scoring levels these players reach mean nothing when they step past Division 1.

All these fantasy league pie in the sky rumours are way past boring now.

Professor Zim - April 7, 2008 07:17 PM (GMT)
I said quality players

RVN, Stam, RVP, Bergkamp, Gullit, Overmars, Van Der Sar, Robben, Van Hooijdonk

Cripps - April 7, 2008 08:03 PM (GMT)
And they were all quality in the dutch league so whats your point?

They are not all class players just because they did OK in the league, they were certainly nothing special at International level, or in Europe.

Can't see it happening even if this was just a joke. We have our version of Huntelaar in Eduardo..

We don't need to replace Eduardo as AW doesn't expect him to be injured at all next season as that would just be too unlucky :1run:

yup. they score a ridiculous amount of goals but never win the euro striker of the year awards.
defense sucks. it does not compare with pl.

Highly-rated Holland striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar has failed to agree a new contract with Ajax.

Huntelaar has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal, after his goalscoring exploits for the Eredivisie side.

Ajax technical director Danny Blind admitted that contract talks had failed partly because Huntelaar wanted a release clause written into the deal but felt Ajax wanted to set the price too high.

Huge

"When you look at the Ajax salary structure he could get a huge deal," Blind told De Telegraaf.

"But he doesn't want to see a release clause set at 25million euros (£19.75million) in his contract. We didn't want to go any lower."

However, Blind insists the breakdown in talks does not mean Huntelaar will leave the club any time soon.

Negotiations

"We don't want to see Klaas Jan leave us," he said. "The bar is high. We would like to keep our top scorer in Amsterdam. If he doesn't want to sign a new contract, he still has a deal for the next two years."

Blind also holds out hope that Huntelaar might reconsider.

"The negotiations are stalled," he said. "We have agreed on the fact that Ajax will speak with all clubs that come in for Huntelaar.

"If the interested clubs don't want to pay what we ask for, then we hope that we can start new talks with Klaas Jan again."

If that story is true, it's just another reason WHY we NEED Kroenke now...

He could liquidate the bloody stadium debt so we don't have to suffer watching our favourite players leaving EVERY season...

Still Huntelaar for £11.5mil, that's good business :coffee:

Depends who you believe, the directors are always telling us (searches for crib sheet) 'there are significant funds at Arsenes disposal, we have never refused him money for any player that he wanted'

Toure de Emirates - July 6, 2008 08:33 AM (GMT)
17 years!

Huntelaar would be a good signing though.

mr_gooner - July 6, 2008 10:10 AM (GMT)
Signing Huntelaar would not change our style too much I admit it would be rare to see us play one over the top but then have united been doing that in recent years. However our playing style would not have to adapt to much as Huntelaar is fairly strong in the air and has scored numerous goals with his head during his career and therefore we would still be able to put crosses into the box so I'm fine with a transfer like this if and only if it benefits the club!

Cripps - July 6, 2008 10:13 AM (GMT)
How fast is he?

Black Magic - July 6, 2008 10:22 AM (GMT)
I don't rate Huntelaar at all.

Professor Zim - July 6, 2008 11:48 AM (GMT)
I'd have Huntelaar over Adebayor any day of the week, Huntelaar is a fine talent.

In Lehmanns Terms - July 6, 2008 11:55 AM (GMT)
Also regarding Huntelaar at Ajax...

Look at the Ajax squad, their midfield is full of nobodies yet Huntelaar still managed to score 33 goals in 34 games...

Imagine the amount the amount he could net with service from the likes of Cesc, Nasri, Hleb, Rosicky, RVP etc etc

If he ends up going to United (God I hope not) then he has the ability to be as good as if not better than Van Nistelrooy IMO.

Cripps - July 6, 2008 12:02 PM (GMT)
Good player.

Ades better though

QUOTE (Cripps @ Jul 6 2008, 01:02 PM)
Good player.

Ades better though

Imagine if we could get both of them upfront together...

We could finally get goals from headers regularly...

Only problem is the formation would be tricky to create without dropping other players...
