Title: Best European striker in the last 25 years?
KaiserKolo - May 2, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
The natural variable would be goals scored, but assists, general technical ability etc also define a striker (except for ol' Pippo - not a footballer, just someone with great timing, why is he labelled mr. Offside then eh Johan?...). Also can Totti be defined as a striker? etc
Now the list would have to include:
Raul
Inzaghi
Henry
Van Basten
Stoichkov
Bergkamp
Add your own...
Marc Overmars - May 2, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
Henry, best I've ever seen. But a lot of bias in that admittedly.
Ronaldo runs a close 2nd though, one of the greatest finishers around in his pomp.
Coca Kolo - May 2, 2008 09:35 PM (GMT)
Marco Van Basten and Raul.

Spurs Hate La-Sagna - May 2, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
Inzaghi as best finisher
Bergkamp best all rounder

Also can Totti be defined as a striker?
|
Well if he was ever going to make one of these lists it would be as an AM, thats where he played his greatest Football.
Van Basten for me. Also Baggio but thats just my Serie A bias.
Coca Kolo - May 2, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
Yusuf, regale me with your all time Serie A 11 and 7 player subs bench. These players must be the ones that you've seen play, either live or on TV.
Grimandi's Perm - May 2, 2008 11:16 PM (GMT)
Bergkamp.
My all time favourite player.
bergstar - May 3, 2008 04:48 AM (GMT)
Ronaldo the chipmunk has to be in there
TorresIsBoss - May 3, 2008 07:27 AM (GMT)
Ronaldo
Batistuta
25 years, that makes it 1983, that captures Maradona's prime. He'll certainly have to go down as the best support striker, even if he's not immediately eligable for striker.
Oh and Torres.
;)

Rors - May 3, 2008 10:39 AM (GMT)
Van Basten had it all. Sadly including a propensity to have dips in form/injuries coincide with major tournaments (90, 92, 93 Champs League final that eventually did for his career)

Czech Out Rosicky - May 3, 2008 05:14 PM (GMT)

he could be considered
is it played in europe
cos if ade cant be in, then neither can ronaldo or batistuta
Professor Zim - May 3, 2008 05:14 PM (GMT)
Ronaldo for me....but Romario was pretty special although maybe he didn't spend enough time at Barca.
KaiserKolo - May 3, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
I didn't know Brazil, Argentina and Togo were in Europe. I know the E.U expanded but since when did it include these countries?
;)
The Emirates Gallastico - May 3, 2008 06:08 PM (GMT)
Henry, Ronaldo, Van Basten. :)

Neither RVN or Cantona are the best, but they deserve to make the list -- especially if Raul has.
