I agree completely.......what sort of parents drink themselves silly and let the kids fend for themselves.
If you decide to have kids then you agree to care for them and put them before your own needs, if you can't don't have any, this sort of thing is unacceptable.

It seems like the parents made a huge mistake. Everyone makes mistakes. It's very fortunate that nothing happened to their kids, and for all we know, they will never forgive themselves and will regret this for the rest of their lives. It doesn't make them bad people...

Sorry but getting hammered whilst you have kids to look after isn't a mistake it's irresponsible, you can't be carefree and fancy when you have little ones to look after.
Good parents put their kids well being before their own, they don't go out on a bender because they feel like it, if you choose to have kids then you've made the choice to put them 1st, they don't choose to be born.
