What?
Did they finally manage to re-animate Clough?
Flava Flav - May 6, 2008 07:47 AM (GMT)
NO he is still at Burton ;)
They managed to nick promotion to the championship with a sneaky win against Yeovil (Who knocked them out of last years play-offs) all other results then went their way so god must of been smiling on the City Ground on Saturday

Cool. Always had a soft spot for Forest - I guess because of Clough when I was a kid.
I notice Luton finished rock bottom! That'll learn 'em for 1988 <_<

back in championship, leeds could be too if they win the play offs
play offs are a lottery event pretty much though, as we've seen before.

Hmm well Luton have had a 10 point fine, 3 managers and a set of Administrators who sold all their players to deal with this season.
I still find it odd that the fine for going bust is ten points? Thats like kicking someone when they are down huh

That's what Coney (God rest his soul) used to say.
I dunno. Isn't the idea that it's to encourage clubs to manage their finances responsibly rather than just spending beyond their means and gambling on it bringing success - like Leeds did.
I can see why they're doing it.
That said, Luton would have gone down anyway wouldn't they?
Flava Flav - May 6, 2008 08:07 AM (GMT)
Well you tend to find that once that point deduction has been imposed teams sruggle to make it up.
I agree with the need for a punishment and teams should be encouraged to manage their finances better but a point fine like this just seems a bit wierd as a choice.
Perhaps it would be better imposed the season after rather than knacking the club completely, (Leeds have served 25 points in 2 years now in deductions)
I think every team that has been fined these points has been relegated? No-one comes to mind that has escaped.

It does kick a team when they're down.
What they need to do, IMO, is stop the ridiculous financial inequality between the haves and have nots.
Makes it very difficult for a team to better themselves unless they have a billionaire backer.

Exactly (Leicester aside) the payouts between the Prem and the rest is a joke in equality.
The only way a league 1/2 side to come on is to have a rich owner (like Wigan/Fulham) or have a brilliant manager (Like Bristol City) to get them up the leagues.
If another WImbledon situation came about now they would have to have a very rich owner to push them on, they couldnt do it through just playing their way up.

Forest and Derby will be fun next season :ninja:
