Do you think I'm making this up? I agree that it was a bad idea for a strip, but we did have it for the Sheffield Utd match this season (Carling Cup).

I might be pointing out the obvious here, I was at that game and they were just the home shorts with the away shirts and socks. I.E. All white.
That game highlighted the absurdity of our three kits all having various shades of red and white in them.

Are you sure those are the home shorts? I initially thought they were, but for the gold numbering and redcurrant trim. They can't be the CL home shorts either, because of the stripes on the sides.
