Title: Anfield - May 26, 1989

Was anyone who contributes to or reads GW at this game? I've got to write a piece about it for a football nostalgia magazine called Backpass. Rather than churn out the familiar story it would be good to get the view of a Gooner who was there, so would be delighted to hear from anyone who was. Cheers.

I wasn't there, but I was on another continent and actually didn't even follow football at the time.
can I be of help?

Where were you? And, even tho you didn't follow football, were you aware of any reaction to the match?
Rkane - May 19, 2008 04:56 PM (GMT)
He only started following Arsenal after the CL Final :coffee:

I wish...
It was, however, the game that changed me from an armchair fan to going to games.
I think ISV was there.
And 4th was - it was his first Arsenal game. :sarcy:

Michigan, USA and no, in my circle of acquaintance and media consumption, there was no mention of it -- or any other soccer-related thing whatsoever
and Rkane, thank you very much, but it was after the CL final that I started to follow Barcelona. :sulk:
I only switched to Arsenal b/c the cules were making fun of me

way too young to remember the game, but its still enough to give me goosebumps looking back and watching clips. doubt it will ever happen again

Went to games that season but not that one. Remember the game clear as anything though from TV - still have it all on video. But can't remember a thing of the half-dozen or so games leading up to that one.

Same - I wasn't even born then, but have the whole of the season on video and have watched it countless times, it just doesn't get boring.

I got the DVD when it game out.
...was a pretty boring game, tbh.
Great finish of course but the rest of the game was very cagey. Liverpool went out not to lose, had they gone for it they might well have been champions.
