McNamara That Ghost... - May 29, 2008 11:38 AM (GMT)
If Theo doesn't at least come on to carry the bottles, I'll have words with dad, I mean Capello.

dad, I mean Capello.

I barely knew which direction to look in when he was here for the game yesterday..!

I don't think I'll be hitting the Nescafe for the benefits of staying up for Sunday's match somehow.. :tumbleweed:

McNamara That Ghost... - May 29, 2008 05:30 PM (GMT)
No this is true, I however, sucker that I am, will watch it. And I told you it was on BBC!

Damn SKY and their ambivalent ads!

Da Silva Lining - May 31, 2008 03:48 PM (GMT)
Beckham's been given the captaincy

Marc Overmars - May 31, 2008 03:57 PM (GMT)
 Indeed.

Theo better get an appearance.

McNamara That Ghost... - May 31, 2008 04:35 PM (GMT)
Hmm well that baffles me but it's not a full squad so might only be temporary - even so, how is it moving on?

:fury:

Coca Kolo - May 31, 2008 04:53 PM (GMT)
That's just sick.

Cripps - May 31, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
Decent choice.

DaSilvasGold - May 31, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
im happy he got the captiancy...

he ALWAYS performs, and warrants his place in the team.

he represents what wearing the shirt means, and deserves a chance.

whether he gets the captaincy (very unlikely), he deserves a chance...

Damn right.

Becks will do the job. Proper English lad, he is. St. George's and all that...heart on the sleeve...

T&T 0-4 England : Wazza (2), Stevie G and Lamps

Cripps - May 31, 2008 09:59 PM (GMT)
Even though Rooney and Lamps arent in the squad?

Synergetic - May 31, 2008 10:04 PM (GMT)
Yep. They're the type of guys who won't let a little problem like that get in their way. They won't let their country down... all heart they are. F'cking good English lads...

McNamara That Ghost... - May 31, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
They are big men.

Gooner4Life84 - June 1, 2008 02:31 PM (GMT)
Rio said on Radio Five Live he dosen`t think Beckham being captain against T & T is a publicity stunt and thinks he`s in the running for the job full-time.

"Why not? The manager made it quite clear he was going to give it to people and see how they dealt with it and then he'd make his decision," Ferdinand told Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme.

"So if David's got it for this game then I'm sure he's in the running, so good luck to him.

If that`s the case then i despair

What`s the point of giving him the armband when he decided to step down as the captain 2 years ago and should never have been given the armband in the first place?!

Barry or even David James would have been more appropiate choices. We all know what Beckham is like as a captain for England. So it`d be nice to see either James or Barry as captain. Even them two would make better choices as captain along with the other candidates.

Cripps - June 1, 2008 02:33 PM (GMT)
Beckhams the best choice

McNamara That Ghost... - June 1, 2008 03:03 PM (GMT)
I'm telling you, Capello is making exactly the same mistakes as the previous incumbents.

TorresIsBoss - June 1, 2008 06:33 PM (GMT)
Capello isn't making any mistakes at all. He's be a standard bearer for world class managers everywhere.

What are the mistakes you think he's repeating,, maccy

Cripps - June 1, 2008 06:35 PM (GMT)
Hopefully Theo doesnt start

Synergetic - June 1, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
Hopefully Theo doesn't play..

Being surrounded by divers like Gerrard can't be good for his development.

Cripps - June 1, 2008 06:39 PM (GMT)
I want him to come on in the 2nd half as il miss the first.

Couldnt care less what happens in the first

Yeah that's what I thought too when he was appointed but he's slowly getting sucked in to playing the PR game - whatever his protestations might say. Playing Lampard and Gerrard together, it doesn't work, not as an experiment and not in a competitive match, it never has, I doubt it ever will.

Also, bringing Beckham back, I just can't see the logic in it when he won't be at the World Cup (should England qualify), nor what he has actually done to deserve it recently, when you consider where he is plying his trade now.

TorresIsBoss - June 1, 2008 06:48 PM (GMT)
I doubt Walcott will start. Agbonlahor on the right and Young on the left with Ashton up front is the rumored starting forward line.

This is my England first 11, that I would start with if I was manager of England.

---------------------------James---------------------------

Richards------Ferdinand--------Woodgate----------Cole

--------------Hargreaves--------Carrick/Barry

----Agbonlahor----------Gerrard---------------Young

---------------------------Rooney

That's Gerrard supporting rooney and 4 forwards over all, but having the ability to go into a 4-5-1 if needed.

although I'm in the 'gerrard can play with lampard' camp, I'm in it with a 'only if you completely nullify the threat, creativity and influence gerrard can bring to the team' caveat. So I do sort of agree with you on that.

I do think Beckham should be in the squad though, his experience and crossing ability is enough for me.

Not the 11 mind you.

McNamara That Ghost... - June 1, 2008 06:57 PM (GMT)
I'm not entirely aware of the quality that the MLS has but to me it's like picking a player (a talented one I grant you) from the Championship.

Guess with everything else, we'll see.

Da Silva Lining - June 1, 2008 09:07 PM (GMT)
Theeeeo doesn't start, Ashton, Woodgate, Downing do.

Cripps - June 1, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
James; Johnson, Woodgate, Ferdinand, Bridge; Beckham, Gerrard, Barry, Downing; Ashton, Defoe.

Rkane - June 1, 2008 09:15 PM (GMT)

His injuries have restricted his career so badly.

I've yet to be totally convinced by him but I know he does have the raw ability to grow and become a very good Sheringham type of player.

Synergetic - June 1, 2008 09:33 PM (GMT)
Argh! Bad pitch, crap camera-angles, Ashton's hair... :yikes:
