From what I've seen so far Capello wants england to play disciplined, patient, possession (Italian) football with very little room for Inventiveness or pacey wing play!
He's not showing any signs of creating a team that is willing to take a risk he went mad on the touch line hen Bentley and Young tried to take on players!
In short he's creating everything we arsenal fans hate. I don't think we're gonna enjoy watching England for a few years but we may be slightly more successful.
On to Gerrard and Rooney, will they ever be left out of the starting 11? I think they are two players that need to be left out of a few games I'd like to see a Central midfield with Hargreaves, Lampard and Barry, they all play the football Capello wants to see and do it better than Gerrard.
I'd also like to see us play a Holland style front 3 with two pacey wingers and a striker that gets in behind the back 4.
so to sum up I'd like to see us play;
-------------------D. James
G. Johnson, R. Ferdinand, J. Terry, A. Cole
--------------O. Hargreaves
----------F. Lampard, G. Barry
J. Cole---------------------------A. Young
--------------------M. Owen
But I doubt this will ever happen!
A handful of games and you've basically run out of patience...you've got to realise that English players are shit technically and take 2 years longer than their foreign counterparts to adapt to a new tactical idea or formation. Sven got the best out of an average england in 3 quarter finals, english players may look like they can adapt tactically in their club sides but that's because they have foreign players around them.
Capello strangely doesn't rate Owen and Micah Richards (is he injured or not?). He prefers 4-4-2 80% of the time, as he said, with a deeper CM partnership and attacking impetus from the wide players, be it Gerrard on the left or the right, or Beckham, but it's clear he should drop lampard.
Rooney may be vastly overrated but is still the best English striker technically but not tactically and he lacks defensive intelligence, i.e. his lack of maturity costs his side e.g. red card vs Portugal or conceding a pen vs Russia...
Yes it'll be shit football, and frankly i don't care for England unless an Arsenal player is playing, but he has his own ideas and will work it out pretty quickly.
