I dont understand why they dont just give the CL places to the next team in line in the Portugese and Bulgarian leagues
McNamara That Ghost... - June 4, 2008 01:24 PM (GMT)
To anyone else that would be logical and most sensible thing to do.

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3648676,00.htmlFormer European champions Porto have been thrown out of next season's UEFA Champions League by Uefa.
The 2003/04 Champions League winners, under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, were punished after being found guilty of bribing referees in two games in the same season.
Porto, who secured their third consecutive Portuguese title this season, were docked six points for their part in the match-fixing scandal - although it failed to make an impact on the table.
However, rather than testing themselves against Europe's finest next season, the Portuguese championship find themselves out of the competition altogether.
Porto have stated they will do their utmost to overturn Uefa's decision, although the club would not give any reaction to the punishment.
"It was notified today by the Controls and Disciplinary body of Uefa that (Porto) it will not be admitted to the 2008/09 campaign of the Champions League," the club said in a statement.
Shouldn't they be striped of the title then?

wtf?
why should Milan get in as a result? I know you don't expect UEFA to be genuinely logical, but there has to be some sort of reason they'd let Milan in rather than, say, Everton or whoever.
Can someone explain what that reason is?
Is it because Milan has the highest UEFA coefficient out of all the teams not in the CL?
McNamara That Ghost... - June 4, 2008 03:05 PM (GMT)
That'd be the reason. And Berlusconi.

I guess not but what's the point in taking a strong stance on corruption, only to let them back in on appeal, I mean surely the evidence hasn't changed?!!
McNamara That Ghost... - June 18, 2008 05:30 PM (GMT)
Oh, forgot to say, Porto are definitely back in now.

That would have been nice. But i think Liverpool would have won over two legs. Schalke vs Atletico Madrid does sound like a good game though.
Cripps - August 1, 2008 10:32 AM (GMT)
Hopefully Barcelona players will eb too scared to go to Jerusalem and dont go and they end up losing

Ha Rangers you flops.
Celtic all the way.
jack white - August 5, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
Very amusing.
Not ;long ago I thougt Walter Smith had sorted them out and they were about to knock Celtic off their perch. Then they blew the SPL and the Euro Vase Final.
Never expected this result though.
Coca Kolo - August 5, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)

McNamara That Ghost... - August 13, 2008 05:56 PM (GMT)
Spartak Moscow got tonked 1-4 at home by Dynamo Kiev.
Shaktha Donetsk 2-0 up against Dinamo Zagreb.
Levski Sofia drawing 0-0 with BATE Borisov.
Toure de Emirates - August 13, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
I'd like to see a team from Belarus make it into the group stages. I want Eduardo's old team to make it, but it doesn't look likely. Spartak Moscow... bad memories of when we lost 4-1!!
