not that I'm condoning the actions of those who ignored this guy (I very much do not) but you do realise part of the point of the good samaritan parable is that most people don't care about others and would not treat others as they would want to be treated?
think is also a social problem, some societies have more likelyhood to challenge negative behaviours for instance and others have created an atmosphere where people are too scared to say anything.

No it isn't. The point is that even though he was an enemy of the injured person, he gave assistance - those who were supposed to be his own countrymen ignored him.

Could be right about the social problem. In some of the whackier parts of Florida, drivers don't pull over to let ambulances past. Insane

I did say part of the point not the main one
the main point was to make it clear that every person is "our neighbour" in his teaching to love your neighbour as yourself.
Coney - June 6, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
Everybody needs good neighbours.

an elderly man was run over by a speeding car in the wrong lane, passing motorists and padestrians were too scared or apathetic to step in.
Cripps - June 6, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)
A eldery man being run over and no one stopping to help him. That includes people walking on the pavement.
Only when a cop car came alond, did he get help
