From Sky,

-----------
In-demand teenager Aaron Ramsey has told Cardiff City that he wants to join Arsenal.

Cardiff have accepted £5million bids from Arsenal and Premier League rivals Manchester United and Everton.

The winger has held talks with all three clubs and has now decided upon a move to Emirates Stadium, having flown out to Switzerland to meet Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

A statement on Cardiff's official website read: "Cardiff City were informed on Friday morning that Aaron Ramsey's preferred destination this summer is at Emirates Stadium with Arsenal.

"We will now continue the dialogue with the Gunners with a view to Aaron's move being completed.

"The move unlike other options, however, does not include a loan back period at Ninian Park for the 2008/09 season."

Reports have claimed that Cardiff boss Dave Jones, and chairman Peter Ridsdale, were keen for Ramsey to join United as the Premier League champions were willing to agree a loan deal for next season.

However, Arsenal have put up the most persuasive argument for Ramsey and will now try to finalise a deal with Cardiff.

The 17-year-old has become one of the hottest properties in British football after a promising second half to last season, which culminated in a substitute's appearance in the FA Cup Final against Portsmouth.

Not really.....Hleb's off, Risicky's always injured, Eboue is shite. Can't think of any other attaking midfielders other than Cesc.

I don't really think a players position at 17 years old is written in stone.

Brilliant news.

Another young player joins the AW finishing school before putting himself in the shop window for a bigger team?

Marc Overmars - June 10, 2008 12:14 PM (GMT)
He's British though, they don't leave their comfort zones.

If he's pap the only way for him is down first to a midtable club, then maybe a mug like Benitez will pay squillions for him.

Before

QUOTE
I'm convinced he's going to be a top player. Good signing (as long as he agrees to the deal of course - which I fully expect him to). I hope he stays at Cardiff next season though. I think they're only a couple of good strikers away from having a team capable of getting promoted to the Premiership as long as they keep the midfielders and defenders they have there now.

QUOTE
A big blow? FFS, he's a 17 year old who may or may not turn out to be a good player. He's not Ribery or Benzema.

Maybe he will go to Arsenal, but it'll be because Arsenal wanted him more. If United really wanted him then surely Fergie would have gone to see him rather than leave the young lad on his own with Wenger in Switzerland ().

So United probably think he has good potential. But they don't think he's the 2nd coming of Christ the way some people who have only seen him play an underwhelming 20 minutes in th FA Cup final do.

:haha:

:pedant.gif:

tigerthesmurf85 - June 10, 2008 05:08 PM (GMT)

Never seen him - he actually worth £5m or are we once again overspending on youngsters?

Wenger rarely spends on english youngsters. He spent on walcott and he looked good at the end of last season. I reckon he'll be a good signing.

His nationality is irrelevant. The point I was somewhat lacing in sarcasm is that we always seem prepared to spend, arguably, more on young players than their worth, but not on established players who have been there and done it at every level of the game.

Oh well, I'll still support the team regardless anyway...

The best news was on 5 live! "Alex Ferguson is supposedly furious at the fact that they've missed out on Young cardiff winger Ramsey"

Get in!

We could sign Carlton Palmer for all I care so long as it pisses off fergie it's worth the money. I've a nice image in my head of him even redder than normal.

Seems like it's a done deal. On the Cardiff site & Risdale has confirmed it.

bergkampwonderland10 - June 10, 2008 09:39 PM (GMT)

Carlton Palmer!
Am v happy about this signing - the kid has great passing ability and can play pretty much anywhere. Am sure Wenger will mould him into the team brilliantly.

In the end I had to make the decision I felt was right for my future.

Read: I have Eboue (shit) and Rosicky (crock) to compete with at Arsenal whereas at Man Utd I'd have Ronaldo to compete with.
