Well, more than you do, Wrighty. The countries within the UK have different leagues. Also, the reason we have failed to win any tournament is not due to the lack of the odd Drunkard Scot, Sheepshagger Welshman or Pikey Irishman - we have not had a shortage of players up to the job. It is due to shite managers because the FA would not appoint the likes of Brian Clough or Harry Redknapp because they are the kind of manager who will not be told what to do or pander to the FA.

The reason the UK football is split is probably derived from the times of the Empire. When teams from different parts would compete against each other. When the game moved global, the constituent countries stayed as they were.
On to the matter at hand, it wouldn't work. No one would agree to it

no thanks
wales and scotland already get beneficial treatment over us, including the right to vote on english political decisions where the reverse is not allowed.
no way we should let them get the credit of nearly qualifying for a major tournament <_<

Let the Jocks and the Taffs have independence. Give Ireland back to the Irish, let's all be independent and have a laugh and a beer together. We all know we might inhabit the same isles, but we ain't the same people. We can still put a bloody good rugby team together, and maybe one day we can put a GB and Ireland touring footie team together to match the Lions as well...
