I like the way they say Ade is certain to leave.
I can see how they got that from Ade saying he is staying 100% for many years to come

I can understand why clubs are interested in Clichy. Can't remember him being linked away from the club before so this is his first test of loyalty. Wenger has made you what you are, Gael. :threaten:

I swear to fcuk, if we got anything near £24m for Ade it would be the best piece of business EVER!

It's funny, they say Ade is certain to leave in this article but the link you posted about Nasri in Arsenal debate Cripps they say he wants to stay.
:haha:

When it counts he'll let us down IMO.
Marc Overmars - June 20, 2008 10:39 AM (GMT)
He has scored some big goals for us though, can't do it all himself. He frustrates me like hell at times but it's difficult to point the finger when no one else stood up to be counted.
Even a big name is never guranteed to deliver "when it counts", the best player in the world almost fluffed the CL final!

Clearly I struggle to be completely objective with regards to Ade, I can admit that, but it's misses like against Milan and Liverpool that spring to mind when I think about him...but he scored a hatrick against Derby the following week so all is forgotten, eh?
McNamara That Ghost... - June 20, 2008 10:55 AM (GMT)
You can look at any player we have ever had and write down the misses that ultimately 'costed' us.
Synergetic - June 20, 2008 10:57 AM (GMT)
Bad misses for sure. There is room for improvement. No-one is denying that. But he also scored against Milan and Liverpool and he has scored 30 goals in the season. Every striker misses chances. Ronaldo missed a good one-on-one yesterday. Rooney misses about 40 a game.
He seems settled in the squad. He wants to play for the club. He is probably full of confidence after having a 30 goal season and he's still only 24. The smart money is on him improving next season.

Erm, no. I was refering to goals against Spurs, Man Utd and Liverpool in the last 2 seasons. How can you expect him to score in every big game?
Henry never scored in a cup final. :coffee:
But luckily for us we had other great players to take the responsibility.
As you say though, you can't be objective, and it's been done to death! So no point going round in circles mate. I'll just say he's far from the finished article and still has so much room for improvement, I just don't get the lack of appreciation for his exploits.
Professor Zim - June 20, 2008 11:21 AM (GMT)
Really the only one I'm truly bothered about leaving is Clichy....the others well let's just say I won't be too concerned.

I keep reading this but I don't get it.
If he could improve his touch wouldn't he have done this by now?
If he could improve his passing wouldn't he have done this by now?
If he could improve his heading wouldn't he have done this by now?
If he could improve his composure wouldn't he have done this by now?
Please explain what you mean and justify it.
Marc Overmars - June 20, 2008 11:31 AM (GMT)
Players don't peak at 24...and IMO anyway he's shown gradual improvement in all those areas since he arrived.

The basics are fully developed by the age of 16 in most players.
He score 30 goals (1/5 of which against the WORST prem team ever), woopdy fcuking doo!
He was the only goal threat in the team for almost the entire season. The entire team was set up to go through him.

Is that you Arsene?
Ok minus his goals against Derby and we're left with 24, which is still more than anyone expected.
Ade's not great, but he's nowhere near as bad as he's portrayed by some. And by the same token he's not as good. Fans on either end of the spectrum have made it difficult to find any middle ground now. Hleb is in the same boat too.
Grebbo - June 20, 2008 12:31 PM (GMT)
Clichy won't leave and Hleb I'm not fussed about.
Ade could be sensational in a few years - people forget that he's still very young. Would like to keep him but if we get offered £30m we should sell him and buy Berbatov :music:

ady can go for that sort of money....im sure with he wont score or do as well with a team that wont wont feed him with the ball 50 times a game! If we got the quality of Villa then for sure he would net more goals and not fluff in the box as often as ady!
