Spain leading Bosnia-Herzegovina 1 - 0, Villa with the goal after missing a penalty earlier. Fab started but subbed in 65th minute by Alonso.
Off topic but a good match between Argentina and Paraguay earlier. 1-1 draw, goals by Aguero and Heinze (og). Tevez sent off.

European champs start off with a win albeit an unconvincing one. Cesc played 65 mins before being subbed for Alonso. The 2 rivals for 2nd place also get wins although Belgium sure did struggle. Turkey with a routine win

Elche - September 10, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
Its looking like Cesc has found another ditherer in Del Bosque.
He plays fine, sets up the goal and is dropped for tonight.
I believe this will be the Spanish team....
Iker Casillas; Sergio Ramos, Puyol, Albiol, Capdevila; Iniesta, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Cazorla, Capel y Villa.
McNamara That Ghost... - September 10, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)

Arsenal Royal - September 14, 2008 06:20 PM (GMT)
:scarf: that was a great evening! bosnia trashing estonia and serbia losing thanks to two former arsenal players! :D ah, what a night that was! :)
McNamara That Ghost... - September 15, 2008 09:34 AM (GMT)
Did Mart Poom play for Estonia?
Ach - September 15, 2008 12:03 PM (GMT)
Nope.
It was some bloke called Londak who was subbed after 71 mins in the game when they were 5-0 down.
Didnt get much better for them as the keeper that went on conceded in the 72nd
McNamara That Ghost... - September 15, 2008 02:31 PM (GMT)
They really shored it up after the fifth then.
