Just thought this was worth putting on.

Hopefully, we can see Theo really become the new Henry now.

(Not that the number on the shirt makes a difference ofcourse!)

TheJoyOfCesc - June 27, 2008 02:12 PM (GMT)
Eh? Could have sworn he was No.32 again when the official list was released...

Maybe he threatened to leave us if he didn't get Thierry's number <_<

Walcott to wear No 14 from 2008/09 campaign

From the start of the 2008/09 campaign Theo Walcott will wear the No 14 jersey.

The English forward will vacate the No 32 shirt that he has worn since his arrival at the Club from Southampton over two-and-a-half years ago.

Walcott enjoyed his finest season with the Gunners last term, grabbing his first Premier League and Champions League goals. His growth into one of the country’s brightest talents culminated in a recall to the England set-up for the fixture against Trinidad and Tobago.

The change is the only one following the announcement last week on squad numbers, which saw new signing Aaron Ramsey handed the No 16 shirt, and striker Carlos Vela taking No 12. Below is the full list of squad numbers for the 2008/09 campaign.

Here are the squad numbers in full:

1. Manuel ALMUNIA
2. Abou DIABY
3. Bacary SAGNA
4. Francesc FABREGAS
5. Kolo TOURE
6. Philippe SENDEROS

True but even more so now.

Some posters on here, no names mentioned just love comparing players to past past players and will do it with Theo now.

Theo doesnt have a chance :(

Does this mean that after Nasri we won't make any more signings?

Wenger looks like he's decided that he is confident about starting Walcott then!

I really want to see us play a 4-2-3-1

Almunia

Sagna--Toure-Gallas--Clichy

Fabregas would be playing to deep IMO you saw him come on last night for Spain and he was at the heart of everything playing behind the striker, he is arguably our best player it would be silly to hinder his ability by playing him in a deeper role.

Until he becomes more of a goal threat and consistently scores goals we can't afford to sacrifice a striker to accomodate him in that role.

We sacrificed a striker for Hleb who contributes fcuk all in end product relative to Cesc... :coffee:

And we relied on Ade to bail us out with his goals for months. It was only when Eduardo entered the scene that we got another goalscorer to spread the burden.

If we had another goalscorer from midfield in the mould of Pires, Ronaldo or even Lampard it wouldn't be so much of a problem, but right now we dont.

I'm not suggesting that we play Fabregas off the front striker, what i am saying is that, by playing the mentioned formation Fabregas is far too depp IMO we need him forward orchestrating the attacks, as we saw in the semi final for Spain he cntrolled everything. If he was played that depp it would be a waste of him.
