Seems they are all set to name former chelsea and lazio midfielder Roberto Di matteo as their new manager, not a bad first job that is it really>

It'll be interesting to see how he does as a coach. He was a good player, MK Dons is a tough challenge and if he can prove himself at lower league level, he may be a Premiership manager in a few years time.

obviously not black enough for the EPL :sulk:

Interesting appointment.

Nothing personal against Di Matteo.........

........but as the MK Dons are the living embodiment of franchism I hope they get relegated out of the league as soon as possible. And if they were replaced by AFC Wimbledon we'd have a perfect, virtually Hollywood-esque end to the story.

<_<

on the other hand we could stick with the real football club and those whiny mardy bastards can stay in teh blue square

If that MK geezer (Winkelman?) wanted a league club in his town he should have started a proper football club in whatever regional league they have out there and worked his way up.

Buying another club and closing it down so he could replace it with a fake football club was probably the worst thing that's ever happened to English football.

Suppose Man United got relegated? Why bother spending a season in the championship when they can simply buy a PL club, Wigan or Fulham maybe, then close them down and take their place.

Sounds a bit unrealistic I know, but the existence of the fake Dons makes that kind of thing possible.

all this is true my somewhat large boned irish friend, but the old Wimledon dons were bankrupt anyway and about to go out of business so ewither way they would have dissapeared?

They always lived on the edge financially but they only became a financial catastrophe when it became obvious that Winkelman was going to move the club to Milton keynes. They played a whole season in front of zero fans as a result of that decision. Clever plan though if you want a fake club in the league. Buy a club, turn it into a financial shambles and then 'move' it.

Perhaps thats what Usmanov is trying to do to us?

"The East Midlands Arsenal"

Marc Overmars - July 3, 2008 10:23 AM (GMT)
happy with the appointment, he'll get the cash and aslong as he keeps hold of andrews i think they can finish midtable....maybe even a late shout for the playoffs.

Wish him and the club all the best.

After being so close to bankruptcy, they've done remarkably well to come back from that
