Title: Radamel Falcao
realreyes - July 10, 2008 12:13 AM (GMT)
| QUOTE |
ARSENE WENGER is leading the chase for Columbian scoring sensation Falcao.
The Arsenal boss is desperate to sign a striker with Emmanuel Adebayor’s uncertain future at the Emirates and Eduardo’s broken leg.
Falcao, 22, scored 38 goals in 58 games for River Plate.
He has terrific pace and is able to finish with either foot.
Wenger is lining up an £8million bid but the Argentines value him closer to £12m.
Arsenal’s interest is sure to annoy Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson. |

Sounds good.
Anyone seen him play?
elreactor - July 10, 2008 01:26 AM (GMT)
River want 12 million POUNDS for Falcao??!!!!!! They are thieves. Don´t make me laugh so ridiculously. Radamel Falcao García scored quite a few goals, and yes, he did it for River, one of the two "big" or "powerful" or "whateferthefuckyouwanttocallthem" clubs from Argentina. Well, I live there (here) and don´t support nor bear any of these. River are the current local champions, yes of course, but you should have seen them play, last half-season level in Argentina (we have two seasons per years, 19 matches each) was the poorest of the last 6 years approx. There are simply NO local league players I could suggest for the Arsenal, honestly.
I warn ourselves (as me is gooner too!!!): River and Boca will always overvalue their players. Falcao is good, but who did he face?, he´s not worth more than 7 million pounds, 8 at most.
Don´t let the likes of boca or river fool Arsenal, boca won some cups lastly, but did you see the teams they played against?? And boca itself?? Please, they´re pure sh*t.
If he comes for 7 million, maybe could try from the bench. Anyway, someone like Negredo is more needed at Arsenal, as the togolese striker is becoming more and more unpleasant. Eduardo, Van Persie, Walcott, Vela would be before Falcao, so what buy him for?
I´d suggest to seek elsewhere, or at least not take a player just because he plays for the two overrated clubs mentioned above.
:scarf:
KaiserKolo - July 10, 2008 07:16 AM (GMT)
If he is as good as the original Falcao then hell yes! His stats are impressive but I doubt Arsenal would be fooled by this, we bought Ade and his stats were shite but he came good. If the interest is true then he must be good enough.
Dentonboy - July 10, 2008 07:47 AM (GMT)
His dad played professional football and named him after Falcao.
I have seen clips of him, and by all accounts, he is a very tidy player. Of course, a recent check of my post history will draw up the fact I've been raving about him for a while now...
He is quite small, but leaps like a salmon! Good finisher, moves like a young Kevin Phillips and could do well in the Premiership. A work permit shouldn't be an issue either as he plays often for Colombia.

Definately sounds like a Wenger type signing and he's fcuking brilliant on FM.
What more do you want?
Sign him up :whacky:

Theres a lot of untapped talent in South America, I hope this guy falls into that bracket if we're serious about him.
Dentonboy - July 10, 2008 09:45 AM (GMT)
Untapped talent - read; Hernanes of Sao Paulo, Thiago Silva of Fluminense, Falcao of River, Palacio and Cardozo of Boca amongst others.
I would imagine Wenger to spend after the Beijing Olympic Games - as I am sure that is his kind of tournament compared to Euro 2008.

Falcao brought my dad a lot of Joyous memories at the Stadio Olimpico in the 80's, it would be amazing if that could be replicated for me at the Emirates in years to come. Somehow I doubt he is as good as the Roman legend though........

That's interesting stuff-what sort of EPL player is he like as i can't remember what a young kevin phillips was like, him being 34 now......
PS this one stinks of Arsene getting his SAmeican man to blow some smoke
adamafc - July 10, 2008 12:50 PM (GMT)
has he passed his youtube trial?
Dentonboy - July 10, 2008 01:01 PM (GMT)
He is kick-ass on YouTube!
Think of Kevin Phillips at Sunderland, in that season.
When I see Falcao around the 12 yard spot, I think 'yeah, he'll score if the ball gets to him.' He can head, volley, snap-shot, the lot. He isn't the best technically, but even his mis-hit shots go in.
I would say he'd be a good gamble. But he wouldn't replace Adebayor's physical presence in any way shape or form. He is only about 175cm tall.
dostoy - July 10, 2008 01:13 PM (GMT)
This is a Wenger type signing.
If Adebayor leaves then I cannot see us going to Newcastle or Blackburn about either Martins or Santa Cruz and I get the impression that Wenger would not go for either Villa or Huntelaar either.
I have never heard of this bloke but he is the same type as Eduardo as he is prolific in another league and technically very good and affordable.
I don't think that it will happen as Adebayor will not leave.
Dentonboy - July 10, 2008 01:15 PM (GMT)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJPgU3iPOHgI think Adebayor is going. The Santa Cruz rumours are so strong that they are either a brilliant smokescreen or he'll sign 2 minutes after Adebayor has been sold...

you guys understand that it's possible for a Columbian to be related to an Argentinian?
there aren't laws or anything forbidding procreation between citizens of different countries, for example

RADAMEL FALCAO says he is desperate to join Arsenal.
Boss Arsene Wenger is eyeing an £8million swoop for the Colombian striker as a potential replacement for AC Milan target Emmanuel Adebayor.
River Plate goal ace Falcao, 22, said: “I know there is interest from Arsenal and that excites me.
“If there is an agreement between the clubs I’m ready to go. It would mean a huge leap forward in my career.
“I can guarantee my financial future. The Premier League is sensational.”
Manchester United are also after Falcao. |

All this talk of Huntelaar but I bet this is the guy we're most likely to sign.

Isn't he a bit short at 5' 9", I mean inasmuch as we have Eduardo as a short predatory striker, we should maybe try to get someone with a bit more presence?

Exceeded all expectations last year.
Proved he was up for it.
Showed a great attitude keeping his head down and mouth shut and got on with it.
Scored some important goals for us.
Showed a great work ethic whenever he played.
Proved you wrong.
Won public praise from Wenger.

Sorry to say it Cripps, but you'll have to pull a U-turn on this one at some point. Pissing on Bendy trying to safe face is becoming stoopid now. He had a good first full season IMO.
elreactor - July 11, 2008 04:46 PM (GMT)
We already have players that surpass falcao garcia.
And that thing about his future financial situation, well. Then, when playing for Arsenal he´ll babble about his financial prospects of leaving for madrid or barcelona or the milan mummies. F*ck off.
Eduardo, Van Persie, Vela, Walcott, all better than him.
