Title: ETO for ADE Yes Please!
Description: BBC Sport Latest Rumour

Highbury-Old-Boy - July 14, 2008 11:43 AM (GMT)
:banghead: Yes I know all about Ade again but this latest rumour has piqued my interest. Alledgedly according to BBC,s latest rumours, Barcelona are making a last ditch effort to sign Ade by offering ETO plus 15 Mill. If thats the case I would have to say Yes Please !!!!!!!!!! :oldboy:

tigerthesmurf85 - July 14, 2008 12:13 PM (GMT)
No thanks. He's old and not good any more.

marc - July 14, 2008 12:20 PM (GMT)
If this is true (which it won't be -) Laporta will shortly been seen walking the streets of Barcelona minus one hand!

Side point - If it's Eto'o then is 'Eto'o is' shortened to Eto'o's 'cause that don't look right!!

Better :good:

I'd rather have Ade who is good and has the potential to be much better over time than Eto'o who was great but can only deteriorate in significantly less time.

Would be an amazing deal.

Maybe he was just recovering form injury last season, but he was rubbish.

Highbury-Old-Boy - July 14, 2008 12:38 PM (GMT)
Ade might have the potential but we have seen he only has a 30% conversion to chances ratio. Even if older (more experienced?) I think Eto'o would convert more and would relish the supply he would get

I retract my statement saying he's old. But I'd rather other strikers.

frelling hell, I didn't see that it was +15m.

Anyone that doesn't want that deal isn't only stupid but they deserve to be raped by a stick wrapped in thorns.

tigerthesmurf85 - July 14, 2008 12:45 PM (GMT)
Probably not. No. Anyway Arsene knows.

Marc Overmars - July 14, 2008 12:45 PM (GMT)
My only concern about him is his dodgy knee, but I'd still have him here in a shot. The guy runs his arse off as well, never gives his opponent an inch. If the unlikely deal arose then I'd splaff my boxers..

he might be 27 but his knees are 72

and he is a nutter. You culd stick him in the big brother house and everyone wuld look well adjusted next to him

Robin.your.Persie - July 14, 2008 01:23 PM (GMT)
Word on the street is he's a dressingroom cancer.

Then there's the fact his wages would surely be higher then Adebayor's proposed wages. If, hypothetically, their wage demands are the same I'd much rather see Adebayor earning his pounds in our shirt.

Gooner in Nipon - July 14, 2008 01:42 PM (GMT)
can't see it happening and considering it comes from the Daily Star
says it all!

but just to add my 'two pence worth'; I say take it it! I really do love Ade! but I can see E'to scoring goals and add 15 mil that let's buy Arshavin or even Barry, I myself rate Barry and would not mind him lining up for us!

anyone who says I am a fool for thinking so; declare yourself about whether you were one of those that wanted to see Reo-Coker join us! coz barry is easily better than him! but that's just my opinion! I am not looking to make enemies which sometimes eeems to be the case on thsi site with some!

Weststandupper - July 14, 2008 02:02 PM (GMT)
Effectively (if you believe the papers...heh heh...) we are talking about Eto +£30m for Ade + Hleb.

Who in their right mind, a year ago, wouldn't have driven the pair of them to the airport?

Ade "Barndoor" was fantastic this season - partly down to the lack of other strikers, so he got a consistent run and partly due to his understanding with Hleb and Fabregas.

1) There is no guarantee that he can repeat this again next season, so the price is very reasonable, given that we get a PROVEN WORLD CLASS STRIKER in return (and if AW thinks Eto is past it, then rest assured he won't sign him).

2) One of the two main providers of his goals - Hleb - definitely won't be there next season.

3) If the guy already wants £120k pw having won SFA, he is starting to show signs of the malcontent he was at Monaco, when he slagged off the coach and the team, and then effectively went on strike.

Hleb has never looked entirely settled - his finishing hasn't been consistent enough (how many times does he seem to top the ball rather than welly it?), and lets face it, he wants to go.

Cheerio to both.

:tiphat:

Gooner4Life84 - July 14, 2008 02:10 PM (GMT)
Yeah i`d take that. After all.. he is my dream signing.

27 years old, still got a couple years at the top level, proven goalscorer in the Champs League as well as La Liga and Internationally. For me, i can see him adapting to the Prem, because of his strength, aggresion and determination. In a similar way to Torres if you like.

dostoy - July 14, 2008 02:18 PM (GMT)
Injury prone, big wages, disruptive influence and older than Adebayor.

Also ACoN every two years for sure not like Togo who don't qualify.

No thanks.

It won't happen anyway.

Does Eto'o still speak in third person?

If so, we should avoid.

I think that's my view, too.

All the other problems (bad attitude, etc.), I could put up with -- but when you factor in his injury record (only 35 starts in the last two seasons), it's not a good situation.

(I do think that, when he does play, he's class, though. What tiger said above about his goal record tells you all you need to know about that.)

Wenger to tame Barca Wildboy as Trial is Agreed

It is reported that Wenger is rooting through his magic box to see if he can cast his spell on long term targe Eto'o. Known as the wildboy of Barca, Eto'o is well documented as having an ego to match his talent.

In an effort to seal the deal for Arsenal want-away Adebeyour Barcelona have agreed to release the 27 year old Cameroonian, to appear initially at the Arsenal friendly match at Barnet this coming Saturday. with a view to making the deal permanent. Suprisingly given his reputation Eto'o has agreed and is willing to assess the Arsenal set up, perhaps in an effort to revive his career and reputation with a manager reknowned for promoting the beautiful game.

Crouching Toure Hidden Dixon concurs.

Also, what with Eto'os' failing knees I'm starting to wonder if he is actually 27 or whether this is just more creative African accounting.

Not sure about it, that is, sure about Adebayor leaving but Eto´o signing for us. Well, maybe, I´d try but..... Don´t know, I´d need to be under pressure to decide about this...

I have some names I´d like for Arsenal, but won´t mention any as I´ve just put my precious bids for them :cold:

eto plus 15 million would be an amazing but it seems too good 2 be true. Eto is a quality player with plenty of goals and hes experinced and he would be an ideal role model for our young strikers.
