Title: Arsenal Reserve Matches
Description: .

Gubby-Allen - September 1, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
(Hi Mods, I thought it better titled like that rather than loads of minor individual games - but change it if you want to).

Anyway, Arsenal V Chelsea about to start - Hoyte & Bartley our centre-backs - not much of note in the Chelsea line-up - Except DROGBA! Starting for them.

We've a strong side: Good midfield to watch: Randall, Merida, Coquelin & Wilshere.

Jay Simpson & Gibbs also start.

Thought any of Ramsey, Vela or Silvestre would've figured against good opposition.

Or a good chance to get more games under the belt of Djorrou, Song & Bendtner but maybe they had to be released for internationals?

Watching it now mate.

Was gonna go but had to much work on.

Good side out.

Mark Randall just scored an excellent goal.

Gubby-Allen - September 1, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
Be a while until Gavin Hoyte marks Drogba again.

I'm always concerned that we seem to have a few players who are deemed not quite good enough for the first team but for some reason are rarely if ever played in the reserves which must contribute to injuries & lack of sharpness.

That aside, we've a few players I really fancy watching tonight. The whole midfield, Gibbs & Simpson will figure in the Carling Cup I'm sure.

Good test for them, this match.

Arsenal are tearing Chelsea apart in truth.

Coquelin is doing great in the DM role.

anfield 1989 - September 1, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
Chelsea coming back into this with Sinclair's runs

anfield 1989 - September 1, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
Really good game.

anfield 1989 - September 1, 2008 06:44 PM (GMT)
Ogogo got bullied by Drogba. Gavin Hoyte has done great against Drogba though.

anfield 1989 - September 1, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
Wilshere really is exceptional on the ball for one so young.

adzzzbatch - September 1, 2008 07:17 PM (GMT)
What is all that crap people write on that instant message thing?

Could do without all that nonsense really.

Just awful.

:haha:

I hate that. I position the game to bottom right of my screen so I don't see all that rubbish.

KaiserKolo - September 1, 2008 07:21 PM (GMT)
1-2 Michael Woods scores for Chavski. Fabio Paim made it basically.

Our tempo isn't the same.

ARSENAL 2-3 chelsea FT

anfield 1989 - September 1, 2008 07:51 PM (GMT)
2-3 Chelsea.

Good game all round. Both teams have some very good youngsters.

Mr Brighterside - September 1, 2008 07:57 PM (GMT)
considering they had a 30m striker that's not an embarassing result

how did wilshere do?

Walcregas - September 1, 2008 08:09 PM (GMT)
Did anyone kick Drogba in the face?

anfield 1989 - September 1, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
Wilshere did very well when he was called into action. Sometimes passed 2 or 3 players around him with ease. It's quite special his close ball control actually is.

Simpson's direct running was very good to see and Coquelin did very well in the middle of the park. Merida did excellent in the first 20 minutes but didn't get to se emuch of him after that mainly cos Chelsea grew in strength.

I'm going to the Spurs Arsenal game on Dec 1st so will get to see them first hand who stands out.

Mr Brighterside - September 2, 2008 07:22 AM (GMT)
any of them look good enough for a pl start?

I'm looking for a rational reason for us not buying players.

anfield 1989 - September 2, 2008 01:06 PM (GMT)
To early to say mate. Need a a consistent look at the reserves before making judgement. Maybe that's why Wenger was there.

Coquelin and Wilshere and Simpson certainly looked lively throughout. They have very good futures IMO.

Gubby-Allen - September 2, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
Lots to be hopeful for all in all. We didn't deserve to lose that.

I picked out 5 of the 6 attackers at the start but it was the one I missed that stood out. Rui Fonte looked excellent.

But we're so lucky with Merida, WIlshere (and Vela). Theh just ooze so much class on the ball. Simpson looked lively again too.

The only blemishes I thought were the entire defence who looked poor - although Gibbs does impress in attack & the keeper couldn't be faulted.

We were hampered by the substitutions. Unless there were injuries it seemed a classic case of subs for the sake of making subs. The midfield was doing fine. If we'd have kept Coquelin on (and Randall later) we wouldn't have shipped two goals within 10 mins.

I still think 2 or 3 of our senior players could've done with some game time too: Song, Ramsey, Djorrou amongst a few.

But all in all good, Merida, Wilshere, Fonte, Simpson are quite a good crop and worth watching each game.

Irish Gooner - September 29, 2008 02:25 PM (GMT)
Playing Villa tonight. :coffee:

Elche - September 29, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
The team contains 9 Englishmen tonight.

Win , lose or draw I'm quite proud of that fact.

Only Fonte and Mannone are from abroad.

A midfield of

Lansbury
Wilshere
Frimpong
Lansbury

looks interesting.

Elche - September 29, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
Anyone have any updates ?

anfield 1989 - September 29, 2008 07:16 PM (GMT)
We are getting beaten 3-1. Just tuned in so don't know scorers.

anfield 1989 - September 29, 2008 07:21 PM (GMT)
4-1 villa now. Awesome free kick by some Villa kid called Stieber (2nd goal).

Wilshere was taken off after 60 mins to be replaced by fellow england youth play Murphy.

Ach - September 29, 2008 07:30 PM (GMT)

The English arent as good as we thought then

Talk about coming back down to earth with a bang.

Must be hard for the kids that played last week to then go back to the reserves.

It's funny Villa always have a great reserve side and youth set up but never usually until now make it generate into the 1st team

I was thinking something like that , as we all went over the top after the 6-0. Maybe our kids are not so good.

anfield 1989 - September 29, 2008 07:33 PM (GMT)
Apart from a few it's not really the same as the Sheff Utd game. In reailty actually these are our true kids (no Song Cameroon international, Djourou Swiss International).

Villa have been outstanding. Some great youngsters judging by this. Especially their forwards.

Elche - September 29, 2008 07:36 PM (GMT)
Great strike from Randall for our goal.

Anyone know the ages of their team . Ours are pretty much 16 and 17 years olds...with Randall and Simpson older.
