Title: Concacaf qualifiers
Description: the most important and exciting of all

Americans beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-0; virtually guaranteed to go through to regional finals
QUOTE
The Soca Warriors came out in a defensive swarm, packing almost all of their players behind the ball. But the Americans adjusted quickly and took advantage when DaMarcus Beasley was tripped up in the ninth minute as he sprinted down the left sideline. Donovan lofted the free kick over the scrum in front of the goal and Marvin Phillip had no chance as Bradley flicked the ball into the goal with the right side of his foot.

Nine minutes later, the Americans doubled their lead. Dempsey had the ball on the right side and fed Beasley on a give-and-go. There were four defenders in front of him, but they were lined up flat, and Beasley threaded the ball on a perfect pass to Dempsey, who put it in the far side of the net. (Clint's got 4 goals in the last 3 games he's played for the U-S-A!)

in the 57th minute. Akile Edwards flipped Cherundolo into the air, drawing a yellow card and giving the United States a free kick. Beasley took it, and Onyewu headed it back toward the goal, only to have Phillip get his hands on it as they collided.  The rebound caromed straight to Ching, though, who was all alone in front of the goal and headed the ball into the net.

Mexico 2-1 Canada.

Canada looks to be in some trouble -- five points behind second-placed Honduras in Group 2 with three games to play and only the top two teams to progress to the next round.

Sounds like Vela had multiple good chances, but failed to put any away. But the good news is that Mexico couldn't score until Sven yanked Dos Santos early in the 2nd half. Mexico scored almost immediately afterwards.

Im hoping either USA or Mexico finish 4th.

They will play the 5th placed team from the South American section and hopefully thats Argentina and the harder game they get the better.

He just shaved the right post with a long shot across the keeper - looked like it was in.

Playing up front in a 2 by the look of it.

Gubby-Allen - October 10, 2009 10:23 PM (GMT)
Vela is terrorsing them - almost set up a goal but some feller scuffed it.
