Description: April 7th CL QF

Ach - March 20, 2009 11:16 AM (GMT)
Great to see Pires and Cygan come home.

Great draw for us and Cesc should be back for this

Bring it on

Marc Overmars - March 20, 2009 11:17 AM (GMT)
Can't wait.

Must get an away goal.

We know how hard it can be sometimes to break teams down at home.

Ach - March 20, 2009 11:18 AM (GMT)
As ive always said, get an away goal and keep a clean sheet at home.

A great combo

Although we haven't lost one of my match threads yet, I was responsible for a few of those rubbish draws...

To be fair to Ach, he did "safely" guide us home against Roma.

ROBERT PIRES has one thing on his mind — to dump his old love Arsenal out of Europe.

The ex-Gunners winger cannot wait to face them as a Villarreal player in the quarter-finals.

Frenchman Pires, 35, won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups in a glorious six years in North London before joining the Spanish side in 2006.

But he said: “I’m sure Arsenal won’t be happy with this draw. The only thing in my head is to knock them out.

“It’ll be the first time I play against them. I can’t wait to go back — although it will be the first time I play in the new stadium.

“It’ll be tough but, from what I know of both teams, I believe we can go through.

“We’ve a team that can reach the final and are on track to do that if we’re at our best.”

Bring it on bitch

Just checked Bobby's current statistic.

21 start
8 subs
3 goal
9 assist

Pretty good for 36 years old man. I could imagine him slowly jog into our penalty are with no one marking him.. :coffee:

he's gonna trick Toure into helping him cross the street or put on his socks or something while Llorente scores

arsenal901 - March 28, 2009 05:46 PM (GMT)
I would love it if Pires scores an OG in the 90th minute or probably fouls eboue in the penalty box when he was no danger to the villareal goal!

McNamara That Ghost... - March 28, 2009 06:12 PM (GMT)
That would need Pires defending though.

well, he could be making a back pass to the keeper and just when the keeper is about to kick the ball, the ball hits an uneven portion of the ground and jumps off... the keeper completely misses it and its an OG!!! :jumpnana:

Eddy-Don't call it a comebac - April 2, 2009 04:57 PM (GMT)
if we play a flat 5 in midfield, diaby will start as he has done in the CL this season and in certain away games. With Denilson, Song and Cesc, there is no drive from midfield.

IMO, we will play the normal back 4 with

cesc===denilson
Eboue=RVP=Nasri

I'm torn. Part of me agrees with LL Cool J about Diaby's talent for driving forward runs. But I trust Denilson/Song to help us better to keep a clean sheet.

One thing I do NOT think we should do right now is play Cesc as part of the holding cm. We should play him in the free role behind Ade, like we did today. Then play Nasri and RVP, I think, on the wings, with Theo as an impact sub. (Or Theo ahead of RVP. Or even Eboue. Advantages to each.)

Play the same line up as today, but with Nasri on the left instead of Arshavin.

On shuffling his pack for the trip to Spain…
“I don’t know [what changes I will make]. I don’t know if we lost Walcott today, I don’t believe so. We have a little opportunity to get Van Persie back, a very small one to get Nasri back. We lose Arshavin who is not eligible and we have absolutely no chance to have Diaby or Eduardo available.”

So Walcott should be ok to travel. VP might be ok to travel. Nasri probably won't. And no Eduardo or Diaby.

Not ideal.

Carzola (sp) is out for the season after fracturing a bone in his leg tonight. Senna is also a doubt.

Villareal lost 3-0 away to Almeria, Bobby Pires was sent off on 60th minutes.

KaiserKolo - April 5, 2009 01:46 PM (GMT)
Villarreal welcome back key midfielder Marcos Senna for Tuesday's Champions League clash with Arsenal.

Senna was forced to sit out yesterday's 3-0 Primera Liga defeat to Almeria after suffering an ankle injury while playing for Spain in their midweek World Cup qualifier against Turkey in Istanbul.

Also joining Senna in a 19-man squad for the quarter-final first leg against Arsenal at El Madrigal is midfielder Cani, who missed this weekend's league game due to a leg injury.

Coach Manuel Pellegrini must do without Santi Cazorla though after the Spain international sustained a fractured fibula against Almeria that has ended his season, while youngster Bruno Soriano is also unavailable due to injury.

LettersIsBoss - April 5, 2009 01:52 PM (GMT)
Feck.

Senna will eat Denilson for breakfast
