Wenger surely won't play the same team (why on earth it was picked today I don't know though) ((and depending on injuries)).

What is your injury list btw? Will Sagna be back, because you looked very suspect going through Eboue. You also looked vulnerable to long balls - the decision making by your keeper and defence were atrocious!

We need to win if we have any hopes of the title and so will (should) fight to the death to get the 3 points. Wenger will have 1 eye and the CL and that could be your downfall against us. We will need to be creative without Gerrard (the inevitable "1 man team" comments) and so I can us getting chances but wasting them or us being indecisive in the middle of the park.

Regarding todays match (i'd only get lambasted in your section) I could only ever see one winner, even when you took the lead. You looked scared of making mistakes, which is what ironically cost you. Everytime Chelsea went on the attack I thought they were a danger; your defence wouldn't fill me with confidence (though granted, it isn't your firts choice defence). Players went past without a fight, and when it went up in the air it looked dodgy too. Giving the ball away also undid your work aswell - simply balls needlessly given away.

What is important is whether you crumble or if you fight back - if I had to choose i'd say fight back (hopefully not against us though). You're strongest on the wings, which is even more  as to why both Nasri and Arshavin didn't play - i'm sure they will on Tuesday.

If we play like we did against Chelsea, I can see us winning reasonably well, if you play like you did today the margin will be even bigger.

Ach - April 18, 2009 06:40 PM (GMT)
Sagna i have no idea about.

Gallas and Djourou are out.

Eduardo should be fit hopefully.

Ach - April 18, 2009 06:42 PM (GMT)
Fabianski

Sagna Toure Silvestre Gibbs

Theo Song Cesc Arshavin

Ade Eduardo

Ach - April 18, 2009 06:50 PM (GMT)
Is this on tv?

Babel is Boss - April 18, 2009 06:51 PM (GMT)
As far I as I know, Sky.

Ach - April 18, 2009 06:53 PM (GMT)
Should be a good game.

Whats the likely Liverpool team?

Do you think us playing twice since you last played will have an effect?

JackTheLad19 - April 18, 2009 06:53 PM (GMT)
Yeh on Sky Sports 1.

Wouldn't disagree with that line-up Cripps, Song has to play.

Sagna and Eduardo depend on if they are fit.

The rest hopefully didnt pick up a knock today

Let's Twat These Twats™ - April 18, 2009 06:57 PM (GMT)
We'll probably play a full strength team and win this. Couldn't really give a shit, it's a meaningless game.

JackTheLad19 - April 18, 2009 06:57 PM (GMT)
I can see RVP being benched as he hardly plays consecutive games to protect his fitness. Especially with our only chance of silverware coming up.

Whether it's Bendtner or Eduardo coming in is a different matter, or whether we go with the extra midfielder. Bendtner looks the more likely but if we go 4-5-1 then Nasri comes back in.

Sagna's apparently really really weak so he's got to be a big doubt

Ach - April 18, 2009 06:58 PM (GMT)
We still have to get 4th and im not giving up on 3rd which is an automatic CL place

McNamara That Ghost... - April 18, 2009 07:00 PM (GMT)
We need eight points from six games to get fourth, pretty certain we'll get that, even if we lose this one.

Players can go out with no pressure and just play hopefully, it'd be nice to bounce back from a defeat.

JackTheLad19 - April 18, 2009 07:07 PM (GMT)
Ignoring anything Myles Palmer says there's no chance Clichy will be back is there?

What a run in the first team for Gibbs then. Champs league quarter final, FA Cup semi and now a trip to Anfield. He's doing very well too

Ach - April 18, 2009 07:07 PM (GMT)
Nah he wont be back

Ach - April 18, 2009 09:13 PM (GMT)
Wenger says RVP might not be fit for this

JackTheLad19 - April 18, 2009 09:15 PM (GMT)
Doubt he'll play regardless

Ach - April 18, 2009 09:16 PM (GMT)
Eduardo

Eddy-Don't call it a comebac - April 18, 2009 09:26 PM (GMT)
arshavin will play as hes even more fresh now

probably off bendtner

anfield 1989 - April 19, 2009 10:31 AM (GMT)
RVP got injured (groin) so no doubt he won't be risked.

Think Bendtner or Eduardo will start up top with Ade. Arshavin will play wide. And Song will come back in next to Cesc. Not sure if Theo will be rested or Nasri will come back in.

dostoy - April 19, 2009 10:48 AM (GMT)
I think Wenger had one eye on this match when he picked yesterdays team.

Nasri and Arshavin will certainly start.

I hope we have at least one of Sagna, Clichy or Djourou back.

If RVP is injured then it might be that Bendtner AND Eduardo start with Adebayor on the bench.

Song will start alongside Cesc.

Theo will certainly be involved as well.

I can honestly say that while it is disappointing not to beat Chelsea, fourth place is far more important.

We must get at least a draw, a win would be fantastic.

Come on Arsenal.

Think there is a bit of pressure now. Losing to 2 big 4 teams back to back could have an adverse pshychological effect, just like it did last season. We must bounce back.

fans complain when we dont win anything, then come up with that crap

we are too spolit to think the FA cup is not important

in wenger's best years here we wont he FA cup so many times, was part of his legacy. 4th place is almost guaranteed and therefore this CUP SEMI FINAL FFS is way more important atm

Ach - April 19, 2009 11:01 AM (GMT)
Not anymore it isnt. We lost it.

Shit happens.

A disgrace if true. This is a nothing game, 4th is already ours.

Why the fcuk would he rest players in the cup semi for this game?

Marc Overmars - April 19, 2009 11:45 AM (GMT)
Exactly. I know isn't fully sealed yet, but why the hell would you sacrifice a shot at a trophy for a game we could lose but still cruise to 4th.

Let's Twat These Twats™ - April 19, 2009 11:47 AM (GMT)
We could lose all three of the league games against the top four and we'll still get fourth comfortably.

If anything we should have rested players - heck, rest the whole team if he wanted to - for the 'Pool game.

Given how we normally respond after a setback, I wouldn't be so sure what you say is so likely.

That's not based on our performances personally mate, I just think Aston Villa are more likely to cock things up than us. ;)

Maxzimus - April 19, 2009 05:57 PM (GMT)
I think we'll get 4th place, Villa have fallen apart and don't look capable of picking up 3 points never mine the 7 they are behind us (8 with goal difference).

The match against Liverpool though we'll either lose or at best draw, can't see us winning up there. We can hope Liverpool suffer a CL hangover of course....here's hoping.

If we do lose it makes a mockery of AW team selection on Saturday.

Marc Overmars - April 19, 2009 05:58 PM (GMT)
Doubt there will be any Liverpool hangover. We're in for a tough, tough night.

Ach - April 19, 2009 06:00 PM (GMT)
Its Anfield.

Its always going to be tough.

bring it on

Maxzimus - April 19, 2009 06:01 PM (GMT)
This was always going to be a tough game, Liverpool can smell PL success and frankly we're playing for nothing. 4th place is all but sewn up.

I prefer to keep playing a winning side, from a confidence point of view it seems to work better, when you tinker with a team it can upset the rythm IMO.
