Title: Arsenal V Middlesboro
Description: Sunday 26th April

Gubby-Allen - April 18, 2009 07:48 PM (GMT)
Bugger - 13:30.

Thought I'd start this thread off - if all goes according to plan I should be at about the 25th mile in the London Marathon when it kicks off.

If it doesn't go to plan, I'll probably have the whole match to listen to on my way round!

Should be a win, & should all but confirm 4th & will hopefully be on the massage table listening to a few goals.

Ach - April 18, 2009 07:50 PM (GMT)
Is this televised?

bergstar - April 18, 2009 07:51 PM (GMT)
Yeah the marathon is normally televised

Yup, Sky Sports 1.

Is this televised?

Yep - on Sky. 1st part of the "double header" with Blackburn V Wigan afterwards - and no doubt endless cliches' of "grit, passion, pride, committment" and all that shite.

Only 3 days before the Man Utd 1st leg. If we get anything Tuesday - I could see Arshavin, Eduardo, Bendtner, Vela, Ramsey all figuring.

Ach - April 20, 2009 08:12 AM (GMT)
Almunia will be back for this according to the papers

Almunia

Sagna Toure Song Silvestre

Theo Denilson Cesc Arshavin

Ade RVP

McNamara That Ghost... - April 21, 2009 11:24 PM (GMT)
Surely, surely Wenger is going to get his first win over Southgate this time?

Syn - April 22, 2009 12:18 AM (GMT)
Arshavin FC 2-0 Boro

fakeyank - April 22, 2009 05:00 AM (GMT)

Let's Twat These Twats™ - April 22, 2009 07:33 AM (GMT)

No. We need a win to go in to the Man Utd game I feel.

CC side + Arshavin.

If he can score four against Liverpool, he'll score at least ten against Boro, tbh.

Seriously though, I don't think we have that much to rotate in defense but we should rest some of the players that will start the CL tie.

Bendtner and Eduardo up front, Vela on the wing etc.

McNamara That Ghost... - April 22, 2009 07:56 AM (GMT)
It'll probably be a fairly similar team to last night, Eduardo might well start though.

:D

Elche - April 22, 2009 09:34 AM (GMT)
I can see...

Vela
Denilson
Diaby
Arshavin
Eduardo
Bendtner

being our front 6 against Boro....because of the CL during the week.

Cesc and Theo being rested...Ade and RVP being given time to recover...Song also being rested.

McNamara That Ghost... - April 23, 2009 06:53 AM (GMT)
Women are doing fanzone this weekend.

I hope they aren't screamers...

RVP Left Foot - April 24, 2009 09:24 AM (GMT)
Almunia

Eboue

Silvestre

Kolo

Gibbs

Diaby

Denilson

Walcott

Arshavin

Ade

Bendi

Marc Overmars - April 24, 2009 09:26 AM (GMT)
After the pitiful week we've had defensively hopefully we keep a clean sheet for confidence purposes.

Walcott

Arshavin

Ade

Bendi

since Bendtner's decent and Arshavin will score another tophattrick (see what I did there? that's for four goals :good:) ...

I'd be tempted to rest Ade and Walcott for the manctastic encounter.

hmm, what's the restfulest possible team?

Almunia (get him back in the flow o' things -- will he be fit?)
Eboue (Sagna really needs rest)
Djourou
Silvestre (rest Toure, get Djourou back in the flow)
Gibbs (whether or not Clichy is fit; I don't think he will be?)
Denilson
Diaby
Wilshere (:scarf:)
Arshavin
Bendy
Vela (just to remind him he's a footballer) (assuming Eduardo can't/shouldn't play)

that leaves us with this good and fresh lineup for the m@nkers (see what I did there with the english slang?)

Almunia
Sagna Kolo Djourou Gibbs (will Clichy be fit?)
Song Cesc Diaby
Walcott Nasri
Ade

(and put Arshavin on the bench -- maybe no one will notice)

Syn - April 24, 2009 03:54 PM (GMT)
Hope to see that restfullest team.

Also hope to see Eduardo off-the-bench, so that he gets match-fit before the CL game.

Arsenal v Middlesbrough (1330 BST)

Arsenal have got all of their big players back. They play outstanding football and against Liverpool their midfield made up for injuries to their defence.

Middlesbrough don't look like scoring. They gambled on signing striker Alfonso Alves and lost players to offset his wages but he has not scored goals. It will be touch and go whether they avoid relegation.

Verdict: 2-0

KaiserKolo - April 24, 2009 09:32 PM (GMT)
The idiocy of that man knows no bounds.

1-1 draw. We'll rest players and Boro are gain raising c*nts.

Coca Kolo - April 24, 2009 09:33 PM (GMT)
Time to break the duck.

I don't think M'boro will sit back and defend, they'll be their usual (and recent gung-ho), playing Tuncay, Alves, Aliadiere in a front 3 and I think that will suit us, just pick them off on the counter attack.

3nil - Ade, Arshavin and Vela.

Eddy-Don't call it a comebac - April 24, 2009 09:43 PM (GMT)
Will he risk Ade?

Will be whatever back four we have available in front of almunia

then

eboue===denilson==diaby===arshavin
Bendtner====Ade/Eduardo

Marc Overmars - April 24, 2009 10:50 PM (GMT)
I hope Ade plays some part, a 10 day break is too long between matches. We need him in the mood for the Mancs.

Wilshere played this week in the youth game so won't even make bench. Arshavin has no need to be rested and I think Sagna needs to get his game back on after his illness after his last pitiful performance.

Djourou I hope plays but doubt it for some reason. I'd like to him play vs the Mancs so if he starts expect him to play midweek.

Bendtner I think will defo start. Think Ade will be rested. Eduardo should get the nod next to him I hope. Otherwise Vela should defo play some part to confirm to us he's still alive.

Have a feeling it will be:

-----------------------Almunia----------------------
Sagna--------Toure--------Silvestre---------Gibbs
Eboue-------Denilson-----Diaby----------Arshavin
--------------Bendtner-----Eduardo----------------

Ade may start judging by Wenger's comments and then get taken off. But I think we should just rest him outright as his workrate is (usually) veyr high so need him fresh for Utd game where we'll no doubt play him up top on his own.

Important stuff, tbh. :good:

Who in their right mind listens to fanzone let alone a female one!

Elche - April 25, 2009 01:18 PM (GMT)
The line will also depend on how Everton or Villa do today.

If they don't win, then really he could put out the CC side and see what happens. Having 8 points and a game in hand justifies putting that sort of team out.

If Villa or Everton win, then it'll be a mix with 4 or 5 players rested.

djourou will play as I think wenger will pick him against Manure

For me:

-----------------------Fabianski----------------------

Sagna--------Toure--------Silvestre---------Gibbs

Eboue-------Ramsey-----Diaby----------Arshavin

--------------Bendtner-----Eduardo----------------

No need to risk anyone coming back from injury. Sagna needs to get that l'pool shocker out his system. Hopefully we'll have djourou back for the utd game.
