Title: Arsenal v Chelsea Sun 10th May 4pm

tigerthesmurf85 - May 2, 2009 02:51 PM (GMT)
Live on Sky. Hopefully a good game, my last of the season. Too late to get 3rd?

Marc Overmars - May 2, 2009 02:55 PM (GMT)
Want some revenge!

A league double over them would be nice too.

McNamara That Ghost... - May 2, 2009 03:37 PM (GMT)
It won't be too late for third if we win this one but it's still a tough ask.

tigerthesmurf85 - May 3, 2009 11:01 AM (GMT)
Well they've got us, blackburn at home and sunderland away. So we have to hope to win all our games and they lose to either Blackburn or Sunderland... Looks unlikely.

JackTheLad19 - May 3, 2009 01:31 PM (GMT)
I think 3rd is out of reach, even if we beat them and they slip up somewhere else they've still got a better GD. Hopefully we can win our remaining games as 77 points is still possible which wouldn't be that bad a reflection on the season. Had we held on vs Villa and Liverpool for example we would've matched last season's points total with wins up till seasons end.

selassie - May 5, 2009 08:34 PM (GMT)
United don't even look bothered, they probably feel sorry for us.

selassie - May 5, 2009 08:35 PM (GMT)
Ooops wrong thread!

adzzzbatch - May 5, 2009 08:36 PM (GMT)
1-2 chelski.

Gubby-Allen - May 5, 2009 10:04 PM (GMT)
I'm sure there'll be a big wad of injuries from tonight.

I see little point in playing anyone unlikely to be here next season eg Ade. If Eboue, Bendtner will be going then likewise.

With Eduardo out give Theo a run out up front with RVP & Arshavin.

Don't worry - sure it will apply for this game too.

Not unless Chelsea change their name to Chavs United, it wont

Almunia

Sagna Toure Silvestre Eboue

Nasri Cesc Song Arshavin

Theo Bendtner

gunner 83 - May 6, 2009 09:55 AM (GMT)
This game is for pride and pride only but we will still show no passion and loose we dont have that bounce back ability.

Ach - May 6, 2009 09:56 AM (GMT)
Win this and we are 3 points behind them and can still get 3rd.

More than pride in this game tbh

Sagna Toure Silvestre Eboue

Nasri Cesc Song Arshavin

Theo Bendtner

Cesc better turn up.

Was Silvestre unfit for yesterday or was Djourou chosen ahead of him? Should have played Silvestre vs. United and Djourou vs. Chelsea tbh.

RVP Left Foot - May 6, 2009 03:04 PM (GMT)
Give, vela and Ramsey another chance
Bendi up front

Grebbo - May 6, 2009 03:26 PM (GMT)
Ade should be dropped. Bendtner should play as he's in better form.

Gubby-Allen - May 6, 2009 07:57 PM (GMT)
Wouldn't play Ade again this season: Look towards next year whilst trying to keep the record going.

Like to see a front six of:

Arshavin, Ramsey, Fabregas, Nasri
Walcott, Van Persie (only as Eduardo is out)

Ach - May 6, 2009 07:58 PM (GMT)
Song has been great the last couple of months.

He should start all the time

panna - May 6, 2009 09:43 PM (GMT)
I guess this can be considered to be a match fighting for the 3rd place both PL and CL.

Syn - May 6, 2009 10:57 PM (GMT)
The messiah will score a couple, Arsenal will win by a couple, and everyone will wonder why Arshavin didn't start in the FA Cup.

Fact.

No chance of third and we never had.

Chelsea need to drop 4 out of their last 6 points, assuming we were to beat them also.

And they have Blackburn at home and Sunderland at away to play, so it just won't happen as their goal difference is better than ours and their defensive record means they won't let in bags of goals to those two teams either.

Marc Overmars - May 7, 2009 01:09 PM (GMT)
The manner of our defeats this week makes this match interesting.

Think we've got more to prove than them. I'm desperate for a win here tbh, but I think it will be an entertaining draw, maybe 2-2.

davegordo - May 7, 2009 04:17 PM (GMT)
It's a tricky one for Wenger do you start a player who's on the pitch performances have been awful of late, or start a player who's off the field antics have brought shame to the club? personally i'd go neither and play VP instead!

--------------Almunia

Sagna---Toure---Djourou---Gibbs

Walcott---Song---Cesc----Nasri

sure. we need then to lose another one and we then need to win at old trafford vs a united side that wants every point in order to clinch the league.

oh yeah then we need chelsea to drop more points and/or totally trash their vastly superior goal diference.

now, while we could conceivably trounce both chelsea and manyoo, and then ask ask arshavin score 10 vs sunderland, I have to say the odds arent with us.

3rd is well worth having though - this time it means no CL pre qualification whearas 4th could see you facing the weakest serie A qualifier

The odds sure are against us and Arshavin to score 10 past Sunderland seeing as we dont play them again this season

I'm interested to see how Wenger talks up this weekend - if at all.

Of course if he has a microphone shoved in his face & asked "are your players looking to make amends for midweek" then he can't really do anything but say that we're up for it & looking to show some resillience.

But after some vastly overexcessive comments about "magnificent performances" & promises to the fans - where he was just setting themselves up for a fall, I'll be keen to see how he plays it.

If the interviews in midweek were anything to go by, I think he could get the tone spot-on.

Arsenal v Chelsea (1600 BST)

Chelsea are going to finish third, Arsenal are going to finish fourth.

For all these games over the years, this will be one of the most low key affairs between the two.

Verdict: 1-1
