Roma’s Daniele de Rossi may leave the Serie A giants at the end of the season, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool all said to be monitoring the situation.
Roma have struggled all season in the league and are unlikely to qualify for next season’s Champions League, as a result the Giallorossi’s hierarchy are already planning for the financial aftermath meaning a number of their top earners may leave the Stadio Olimpico.
De Rossi is one of the best central midfielders in Europe, and all of the top four clubs in England, as well as Manchester City have shown an interest in the Italian international.
Inter Milan have reportedly already put in a bid of €40 million for the player, however initial speculation suggests the player would favour a move to either Spain or England.
Italian agent Vincenzo Morabito told 24oredisport: “The club is in a very difficult situation. I expect two or three significant departures.”
“Without a doubt Philippe Mexes will leave, the other could be Simone Perrotta. If a great offer arrived for De Rossi, I think the vice-captain could also be sold.”

Would break his heart to leave, because like Totti, he is Roma through and through.
fari - May 7, 2009 04:21 PM (GMT)
this man would instantly improve our team, he is a world cup winner and has lots of big game experience. if we are serious about challenging for ANY trophy next season players like him must be brought in.

Love De Rossi here, but can't see it.
Grebbo - May 7, 2009 05:59 PM (GMT)
40 million euros?!
Took us 6 months haggling with Zenit over £15million for Arshavin. No chance we'll spend 40 million euros.
I reckon £20million is our absolute maximum spend on one player and Wenger would only spend that on the next Messi.

I'd love that filthy thug down here. Don't think we'd be too high on his preferred clubs list though.
tigerthesmurf85 - May 7, 2009 07:46 PM (GMT)
Yes please
We need a dirty tackling midfielder

mexes was torn apart at the emirates
overrated
de rossi though - would love him here
Arshavinslittlelegs - May 8, 2009 01:45 AM (GMT)
Mexes is rubbish.
De rossi on the other hand can pass, can tackle and is a midfield terrier. Add his experience including world cup winner then we can do no wrong by getting him.
Depending on the financial troubles at Roma they may be desperate to sell.
adamafc - May 8, 2009 08:35 AM (GMT)
I'd love here but I can't see us signing him.
Wouldn't want to hinder the progress of Denilson etc. now would we?
bergstar - May 8, 2009 01:07 PM (GMT)
De Rossi spent all night in Denilsons pocket a few weeks back, you know.

True and will he be able to hack the pace of the EPL?

No matter how good you are you'd still struggle with shite players around you. As shown by Fabregas' relative decline this season :penguin:
He is physically able to hack the premier league and possibly imo go on to thrive in it. Hes also quite versatile - can sit just in front of back four and play intricate passes to get the defence out of trouble, can play wide or can play as a box to box powerhouse. Add to this his eye for a goal from distance and you've got a player that we are in need of NOW.
Pls Wenger, pls for once do whats right and buy this quality player.
bergstar - May 9, 2009 06:25 AM (GMT)
Don't get me wrong, I do rate the player, but it is worth remembering that Denilson had him in his pocket that evening. I've no doubts that he'd fit in the premier league easily enough, he's got drive and energy and i'm sure he'd fit in with us. However I cannot see him ever leaving Roma

Italian agent Vincenzo Morabito has commented on the Giallorossi's predicament and some of their stars are likely to be leaving the Stadio Olimpico.
"The club is in a very difficult situation. I expect two or three significant departures," admitted the player representative to 24oredisport.
"Without a doubt [Philippe] Mexes will leave, the other could be [Simone] Perrotta. Roma have a great offer from an English team for De Rossi, he wants a new challenge so I think the vice-captain could also be sold."
Who do you think is in for De Rossi...could it be us? :whacky: Please let it be so!!

BiBBles has already proven that to be bullshit, and if there is an English club that bid for him it's Citeh.
:(

Morabito is a cockface who knows feck all
Chris_Kiwomya - May 23, 2009 12:29 AM (GMT)
Its more likely we would sign Perrotta (which would be rather exciting), De Rossi if sold will go to the biggest bidder and that will not be us!

Even if Citeh is in for him how much are they going to pay him? Seriously if the money is a little bit lower from arsenal, still - who in their right mind would choose city over arsenal???
he doesnt want to be in freaking manchester.
We lure him with a lot of money (but money that we can afford) with also the prospect of playing in the middle with fabregas and playing in london.
thats hard to pass up imo.
He's no gold digger like robinho, most people know that citeh arent going anywhere and they wont bite on the oil sheiks bait just to make a few more bucks

Hmm so de Rossi could be the chosen one that we pin all our hopes on this summer (and get dissapointed).
Syn - May 23, 2009 08:43 AM (GMT)
Nah, Wenger's usually kind enough to quickly squash any rumours that have no truth to them. Although if he doesn't...
Bubba the Gunner - May 23, 2009 01:09 PM (GMT)
Aye, the speculation snowball has begun to roll.....
I fully expected the Arshavin deal to be pure BS but it happened. So you never know.
De Rossi is the type pf player with the 'engine' we could do with.
But to be honest there are plenty of CM that could do better than Denilson, Diaby , Song.

all will be forgiven the moment he pulls on the, uh, blue pinstripes of Arsenal
tech12 - June 12, 2009 05:36 AM (GMT)
I get goosebumps at the thought of a De Rossi in our CM. Him and Cesc would make one of the best CM combinations in the world.
Fabregas and De Rossi
Lampard and Essien
Xabi and Mascherano
Xavi and Toure
It works fits. Unlike Fabregas and Denilson.

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has underlined his love for the club by telling Premier League side Arsenal that he has no intention of joining them.
On Friday, The Independent claimed Arsene Wenger was ready to tempt the Lupi with a €35 million bid for the Italian.
"Arsenal? I have not heard anything," De Rossi told the press on Saturday morning.
"Roma have said I am not for sale. I only want to stay here. Obviously things would change if Roma wanted to sell me, but they have always wanted to keep me."
De Rossi is not the only Roma midfielder linked with an English giant as Alberto Aquilani is reportedly on his way to Liverpool.
"Aquilani is going? If this is true then we will be losing a great player," added the No. 16.
The Italian has reflected upon last season's failures and he is hoping things change this term, eyeing a top-four finish.
"We have to do well because there is a gap between us and the first three teams," continued De Rossi.
"If we arrived fourth then we will have had a good season. Now we have to find the right mentality and winning culture as we lost it last year." |

if he is so good why was denilson not totally outclassed by him when we met in the CL?
