Title: Tumbleweeds
Description: Lack of transfer market activity worries
SOLo - May 19, 2009 08:10 PM (GMT)
I haven't really heard much news about anyone at this point, apparently there's a dead certainty we'll be signing some attacking midfielder from the relegated team in the french leagues, but normally theres more noise and rumours at this period of the season...
Considering that it's always better to sign them early, get the full pre-sean and start with an integrated team, you would have thought that if we where going to move, we would be likely to be more decisive now than in recent seasons...
Has talk of adebyor sucked out all the air in the room or are we really that cash strapped?
Andrei's Arsenal - May 19, 2009 08:16 PM (GMT)
We've been linked with loads of people mate, I'd say more than usual.
Then again it is right after the whole shareholder shitfest.
goonerravs - May 20, 2009 09:45 AM (GMT)
as wenger said when you mention names the fee goes up, hope any signings are done on the qt....
Coney - May 20, 2009 09:47 AM (GMT)
Yes - May 19th and we still have not spent 50 million on two players! My god - we only have till the end of August left. We are buggered! :yikes:
Crouching Toure Hidden Dixon - May 20, 2009 10:36 AM (GMT)
The transfer window doesn't open until 1st July.
Our season may be effectively over but there is still football to write about. Just wait for the long empty summer, there'll be more transfer BS than you could possibly want.

Bubba the Gunner - May 20, 2009 04:11 PM (GMT)
aye, gutter trash tabloids need to shift their products. They will soon start rumours, dont worry
SOLo - June 2, 2009 11:18 PM (GMT)
still no solid transfer rumours, what, are we just waiting for last minute bargain buys as usual? Shouldn't we be looking to get our transfers sorted early so we can prepare properly for the new season?
Ah well.

The quieter the better. Last season all sorts of names were being bandied about, but hardly anything came of it all. Personally I like surprises that come out of the blue.

No, I personally like the great anticipation of big name, experienced players followed by the utter despair as we sign a 19 year old frenchman for 4 million euros, which is then followed by the great anticipation of a promising season, which is then followed by the utter despair as we fold under pressure in a cup quarterfinal, which is then followed by the great anticipation of ...
It's better than sex, TBH.

What like Bischoff & Silvestre. ;)
SOLo - June 15, 2009 05:19 PM (GMT)
So with the kaka and ronaldo transfers, and a hell of a lot of inflation, is it even going to be possible to buy decent players this season? If we are not to stumble on clubs inflated transfer fees then our wage policy seems to get us unstuck.
Sure, we all can blame footballers for wanting to increase there weekly figures (which is more than what most normal people would make in a year, per week) but when RVP on 60k is looking over there shoulder at players for chealsea who are on 130k a week, it's not hard to understand that we really have a lot working against us this transfer window leaving me with little optimism for next season.

Eduardo was kinda out the blue, i didn't hear his name mentioned until the day he signed.
The Wright Way - July 15, 2009 09:24 AM (GMT)
Yeah but wasn't Eduardo signed on deadline day? So we all kind of knew that we WOULD sign someone.

no, he wasn't -- long before deadline day
Theologooner - July 15, 2009 08:04 PM (GMT)
Wasn't it Arshavin who was signed on deadline day? Or not, depending on which version of events you believe... :ninja:

After 6 months worth of noise and speculation.
He was a solid link ever since the euro's. We haven't had anything like that since, and as for that new CB we signed, that was pretty much a done deal weeks before we actually signed him....
We've still got aways to go, but it would have been nice having a settled team by pre-season. :coffee:

Gubby-Allen - August 16, 2009 02:11 PM (GMT)
He is waiting until after the Celtic tie. If we go through, many will go out the door (inc loans) - if we go out, we'll need them for the Europa. Expect the exodus after that & maybe 1 or 2 in.
J.E.T is off to Blackpool for the year though by the looks of things.

We've got ages yet!
Arsene and Ivan are kings of Deadline day deal Chicken! Look at the Arshavin Deal They risked it for a biscuit..... and what a frickin Biscuit!
Wenger will wait till the last few hours of the window then pull a rabit from a hat, a penny from an ear and a Girbil from his arse (that last one's mine).

Gooner in Nipon - August 28, 2009 12:48 AM (GMT)
has been like this for a a few seasons now......watch everyone around us bring in new players, I mean look at Villa, 2 in about 24 hours!!! and I think Dunne is a decent player!
if past experience is anything to go by, we will wait until the last minute.....and then work out a deal but I won't be surprised if none are done
