Title: Why I hate Ponting

subtractabayour - May 21, 2009 10:38 AM (GMT)
1. He's Tasmanian

2. He's an arrogant little feck

3. His eyes are too close together

4. He embodies the opposite of the values that cricket is supposed to embody - fair play; respect for the opposition; the spirit of the game etc

5. He has no class

6. He is a hypocrite

7. His accent

8. He is a winner (I wish it could be anyone else leading that side)

9. He's a bad winner

10. He's a bad loser.

Another cricket fan on GW :woohoo:

(Nothing more to add. He's a cock. Quality player, but a cock nonetheless. )

15. His 'twirlers' will get Kevin Pietersen out at least once.

Ach - May 21, 2009 04:46 PM (GMT)
16 - He'll give dirty looks to any sub fielder that comes on for England

And I must say, it'll be hard not to raise a smile at it...

McNamara That Ghost... - May 21, 2009 06:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah that's true. Anyone other than Pietersen and I might not laugh.

Can't disagree with any of the above....well apart from the one about winning the Ashes hopefully...

I can't stand that muppet, but sadly he is a fine fine player and skipper

Ach - May 21, 2009 08:52 PM (GMT)
As long as he doesnt lift the Twenty20 trophy this summer, thats the most important thing

PGFC - May 21, 2009 09:03 PM (GMT)

Might have to disagree with you on your final point. if its all about winnning at all costs then perhaps, but test cricket has not, thank God, quite come to that yet. Even the Aussie public are lukewarm on Ponting. He has been likened to someone leading a pack of wild dogs - and IMO that doesn't reflect well on the game at all.

Yep there was a big reaction in Australia when India complained about their behaviour, a lot of the former pro's condemned it and called for Ponting to step down which I was surprised about. I was talking about results first and foremost as his record is outstanding but I think his attitude on field is shocking.
