Cause Fabianski showered himself with glory every time he played last season. Are you kidding? Hope we get a descent keeper Akinfeev or someone else.

Akinfeev wont be happy sitting on the bench

This guy is the next Isaksson!

In Lehmanns Terms - June 25, 2009 06:42 PM (GMT)
Zim, the thing is, Isaksson was good but right away he broke his fingers and couldn't play for months and in that time Hart had his one season wonder, Isaksson got pissed off and left.

He's an excellent keeper but his attitude stinks, the same with Akinfeev

Maxzimus - June 25, 2009 06:44 PM (GMT)
 I'm not convinced with Isaksson, I think he was good before people saw him in real life.

He played a blinder time after time in football manager.

Isaksson was better at Rennes than Cech was.

As ILT said, got injured and then clueless Man City manager picked crap ahead of him

Very overrated.

Looked fairly rubbish against Villa/Spurs and he's got some bloody big weaknesses that are going to be very hard to sort out to make him a top keeper.

MANCHESTER UNITED are eyeing Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev as they prepare for life after Edwin van der Sar.

Manager Alex Ferguson has already started planning for the Dutchman's retirement - and CSKA Moscow's Akinfeev is one of his options.

The keeper, 23, has impressed for club and country since arriving on the scene five years ago.

He has been on the radar of a number of Europe's top teams and Fergie does not want United to miss out.

Van der Sar, 38, says he will make a decision this season about whether to hang up his gloves.

Ben Foster is his likely successor after overtaking Tomasz Kuszczak in the United pecking order.

And the Pole may be heading for the exit, leaving room for another keeper if Van der Sar does retire.

CSKA Moscow have reportedly attempted to fend off potential suitors for Igor Akinfeev by valuing the goalkeeper at a mammoth £25 million.

Manchester United have been linked with the Russia international, but could be deterred from making a bid by the enormous asking price, according to the News of the World.

The Sunday tabloid suggests Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson sees Akinfeev as a replacement for current number one Edwin Van der Sar, who will turn 40 next year.

Conflicting reports have suggested the Dutch 'keeper will be offered a new contract however, while Ferguson has previously stated he is happy with the options he has in Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak.

Akinfeev made a string of remarkable saves at Old Trafford earlier this season as CSKA drew 3-3 with the Red Devils.
