Title: Valencia v Arsenal
Description: 20.30 8th August

Ach - August 2, 2009 08:03 PM (GMT)
Almunia

Sagna Gallas Vermaelen CLichy

Walcott Cesc Song Gibbs

Eduardo Arshavin

Last pre season game.

Theo and Gibbs need game time.

Play strongest team available bar them 2 although Theo arguably makes our strongest team anyway

Jens' Face - August 2, 2009 09:30 PM (GMT)
I think we should make sure that everyone who is a major player for us gets at least 45 minutes. That means Denilson, RVP, Bendtner, and Djourou should come on for the 2nd.

Looking forward to NOTW linking us with Silva and Villa. :good:

tigerthesmurf85 - August 2, 2009 09:33 PM (GMT)
Wont Vermaelen still be injured?

McNamara That Ghost... - August 2, 2009 10:11 PM (GMT)
Vermaelen being left out was only Wenger not wanting to risk him, so on that basis I would assume he will play some part against Valencia.

Marc Overmars - August 2, 2009 10:12 PM (GMT)
Should be a good test this game.

Don't think any of the big guns should play more than 45 mins, can't be doing with any injures with Everton and the CL game coming up.

Syn - August 2, 2009 10:16 PM (GMT)
In my expert opinion, all Spanish teams apart from Barcelona are a bit poo. Should be looking to maintain winnings ways and record a comfortable victory.

The Wengerbabies - August 2, 2009 10:18 PM (GMT)
This will certainly be the biggest game of pre-season and the best indicator of what we can expect this season, so I expect the team to be close to what it will be v Everton, although more players will get a run around.

It would be interesting (and enjoyable) to see an Arshavin-Eduardo partnership like in Cripps' team

Elche - August 2, 2009 10:32 PM (GMT)
I'm going...Anyone fancy a meet up?

Arshavinslittlelegs - August 2, 2009 10:34 PM (GMT)
Vermaelen will play. I read somewhere Wenger said that he has a slight hamstring injury but should be good to go vs. Valencia.

Maybe but they didn't put up much of a challenge so Valencia should be the biggest/ most challenging game now

Is this on tv?

McNamara That Ghost... - August 3, 2009 08:37 AM (GMT)
Nah. ATVO have it.

And we're in the Mestalla. Not playing at home like against Atletico.

Havent seen any of our games this pre season on ATVO.

True but Athletico were one man down for much of the match, after all Reyes is more interested in diving and rolling around than playing football.

Tis a sad state of affairs when Benfica don't even want you though.

Id prefer to see Arshavin in midfield behind the strikers and RVP and Eddy up front.

Reyes was arguably their best player in the first half

Stick to netball son

Be interesting to see, play the high line against this mob, if they play at full strength, and they will punish us. Will be a good yardstick of where we are, what we need.

Playing a game like this away. will be great preparation for the CL qualifier.

This will be a hard game, and the press believe they'll be at full strength...David Villa, the only doubt is Silva.

...........Song....Diaby.........

...............Fabregas...............

..Walcott........................Arshavin

..................Eduardo

Subs:

Djourou
Fabianski

So does anyone have an ATVO account I can borrow

Der_Kaiser - August 8, 2009 08:36 AM (GMT)
Saw a few of their moves vs. Man Utd and it was lovely to watch.

An outside of the boot pass over the defence to a winger whose first time slide rule pass went to the edge of the box where the No.10 hit it first time (again outside of the foot) and he hit the crossbar.

What a strange match to arrange, especially an away game in Spain

Ach - August 8, 2009 04:32 PM (GMT)
QUOTE
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has heralded his sides last pre-season game as excellent preparation for the opening Premier League fixture against Everton.

“For us it's a big game, because it's always difficult in Valencia and as well because it's the final preparation game,” Wenger told Arsenal TV.

“In Spain, you've got always a lot of heat, a very heated atmosphere as well,” he continued.

“[It is] a repetition of the reception we get at Everton.”

Wenger revealed that his starting line up will give away a lot about the way he intends to play at Everton.

“[The selection will be] As close as possible to the team that will start at Everton,” Wenger stated.

“You will get some idea of the team that will start one week later. I will not show all my cards maybe, but 90 percent.”

The Arsenal manager said he was pleased with the preparation of his team and admitted Valencia would be tough opponents.

“We have played the Emirates tournament plus Valencia so that should give us, after having played in Hannover, that will make four good games,” said Wenger.

“You come certainly out of the Valencia game with some conclusions because especially on the defensive side they always have a go at you over there,” he surmised.

“Whether it's Barcelona, Arsenal, or Real Madrid, if you come out of there with a positive result you know you have a strong team.”

The game celebrates the 90th anniversary of the formation of Valencia, and Wenger was proud to be invited to commemorate the event.

“Arsenal has a big reputation all over Europe and everybody's proud and happy to see Arsenal play and we'll try to be faithful to our reputation and try to give them a very good game,” he said.

“They're a team...who are top top top class because if you have Joaquim, Silva, Villa, Mata, Baraja in midfield, they look like going forward that they can score at any moment,” added Wenger.

“Last year they suffered a little bit defensively,” he continued. “For me it was a big surprise when they were not playing for the championship last year because they have a big big potential.”

 that the IraqGoals link works.

No dudu, Rosicky, Theo or Vermelean. :(

Der_Kaiser - August 8, 2009 07:19 PM (GMT)
AW said this game will have 90% of the side that'll start vs. Everton. I'm guessing Diaby is only getting a game cos he never plays in pre-season cos he breaks down then. Not a fan of Bendtner on the wing either.

Jack Bauer - August 8, 2009 07:22 PM (GMT)
Iraqgoals is not working.

Anybody got a Plan B?

davegordo - August 8, 2009 07:23 PM (GMT)
Vermaelen isn;t on the bench either!

Subs;
Fabianski
Sagna
Silvestre
Gibbs
Traore
Merida
Wilshere
Ramsey
Eduardo
Walcott.

Really makes you see how young our squad is!!!

Well it's either that or 4-4-2 with Diaby on the left, go figure :coffee:

davegordo - August 8, 2009 07:24 PM (GMT)
Taht has to be a record for most lefties on a bench! 6/10!!!
