If we don't win this then we have serious problems.
Grebbo - August 9, 2009 10:46 AM (GMT)
Our first win of the season :scarf:
Milla - August 9, 2009 10:48 AM (GMT)
We are shite cant hold on to clean sheet. 2-1 to Pompey, RVP to get his first red card of the season. :coffee:
Marc Overmars - August 15, 2009 06:43 PM (GMT)
So, how many next week?
No reason to think we won't smash this lot, if we can do that to a team supposedly hunting for 4th.
Jack Bauer - August 15, 2009 06:45 PM (GMT)
We shouldn't get too caried away. I'll accept a comfortable boring win and no injuries in preparation for the manc match.
2 - 0 to us. Arshavin, Eduardo

Me too :D
JackTheLad19 - August 15, 2009 10:26 PM (GMT)
They look awful but we shouldn't take our foot off the gas. It's park the bus for a point time for them and down to us to break em down. Judging on today we should be ok.
Save me Jebus! - August 15, 2009 11:36 PM (GMT)
davegordo - August 16, 2009 07:25 PM (GMT)
I'm gonna definatley put some arsenal attackers in my fantasy league team for this one! Should be a goal fest they're not the same team as they were
The Wengerbabies - August 16, 2009 07:43 PM (GMT)
We should go all out attack
-------------------------------Almunia
--------------------------Vermaelan---Gallas
---------------------------------Cesc
Wilshere---Walcott---RvP----Eduardo---Bendtner-----Arshavin----Vela

Tickets on General Sale now.
Might try and get a couple for myself.
Marc Overmars - August 16, 2009 11:40 PM (GMT)
Surprised it's not sold out, first home game and all that.
I suspect after Saturday's showing they'll be snapped up pretty soonish.
davegordo - August 18, 2009 09:57 PM (GMT)
Hope we get to see Walcott and Edurado start this one, Wilshere to come on too would be nice
Ach - August 18, 2009 10:23 PM (GMT)
Almunia
Sagna Gallas Vermaelen Clichy
Denilson Song Cesc
Arshavin Eduardo RVP
Syn - August 18, 2009 10:25 PM (GMT)
Theo in for RVP. Bendtner in for Eduardo. And that's what Wenger will go with.
Never been so sure of anything in my whole life.
Ach - August 18, 2009 10:26 PM (GMT)
If Theos fit, id have him in there as well
Stephen McTowelie - August 18, 2009 10:26 PM (GMT)
Nayan - August 19, 2009 07:12 AM (GMT)
surely this is a chance to rest players?
LuvDeGooners - August 19, 2009 08:29 AM (GMT)
Almunia
Eboue Gallas TV5 Clichy
Walcott Denilson Song Arshavin
Bendy Eduardo
Just reckon to accomodate Walcott we'll switch to 442 at home. Cesc and RVP to rest. Reckon that knock Sagna took will force him out for a game.
McNamara That Ghost... - August 19, 2009 09:00 AM (GMT)
Rest players? Hell no I want the three points - 'resting' players three games in to the season seems weird to me, especially when we have a two goal buffer (three to lose the tie outright) against Celtic.
davegordo - August 19, 2009 12:20 PM (GMT)
We need to do the opposite of resting players we need to play them to get match fitness especially Cesc and Arshavin!
Almunia
Sagna,Gallas,Vermaelen,Clichy
Cesc,Song,Denilson
Walcott, Eduardo, Arshavin
Thats what i'm hoping! But he'll probably stick with Bendtner and RVP
Thicknthin - August 19, 2009 01:43 PM (GMT)
This has goalfest written all over it....Arsenal on fire, Pompey in the toilet...so it'll be nil - nil then. :coffee:
was hoping we'd see eddie, wilshere and arshavin let loose but it seems eddie's crook and wenger ain't gonna unleash wilshere until hell freezes over.

double that :goodpost:
But there's rest just to rest, then there's rest to recover from a knock, which -- without recovery -- could turn into a more serious injury. So if we have trustworthy cover, we should use it: Eboue for Sagna.
Almunia
Tigersuit Gallas Vermin Clichy
Denilson/Song Cesc Diaby
Walcott RVP Arshavin
Is Walcott gonna be fit? If so, Walcott instead of Bendtner, because he needs some game time.
RVP must play, because he's not been in good form and we need to give him a chance to play himself into form. And Arshavin should play to, so he and RVP learn to play together better.
Diaby should play for the same reason as Walcott: needs game time. He should come in for either Song or Denilson. As far as the result goes, it really doesn't matter which. Maybe Diaby for Song. Wenger's suggested that he's got less stamina than Denilson. If this is the case, it's more important for him to take a game off.
Cesc should play because he really is crucial. Without Cesc out, the chances of us dropping points, no matter how weak Pompey is, are just too high to take the risk.
If the match goes how we hope it will, then Wilshere and Ramsey and maybe Gibbs can come on, starting around the 60th minute.
sorted :good:
Marc Overmars - August 19, 2009 04:17 PM (GMT)
We're going to murder them. Seriously, unless James has the game of his life I can see us scoring 4 at least.

I wouldnt swap Song with Diaby, but rather with Denilson. Taking Song out will open up our defence. Apart from that I agree with JF. :coffee:

that's the sort of attitude that gets us fucked over against "smaller" teams, so hell no, start strong if we are truly cruising bring out the subs to "rest" those poor chaps at the front line
Grebbo - August 19, 2009 07:45 PM (GMT)
I'm sure we'll see an appearance from Wilshere. I think he'll feature in a lot of home games this season, but not many away.
Would like to see Ramsey alongside Song in the current formation to see how he does.
Ach - August 19, 2009 11:05 PM (GMT)
Another defeat for Pompey.
They look certs to go down
Must win game
Arshavinslittlelegs - August 19, 2009 11:45 PM (GMT)
Some of the cockiness on here is worrying tbh. Hope it doesn't come back and bite us in the proverbial.
Marc Overmars - August 20, 2009 12:23 AM (GMT)

Its not cockiness, its optimism based on the great performances weve seen so far. :good:
And the fact that Pompey are shite now
