Me too.
It only stands to reason: if the atmosphere at Celtic Park is so good that it's hard to win there, then the atmosphere at the Grove is so poor that it is very easy for an away team to win there.

yes, assuming that it's actually not that much of a risk. No reason right now to think that he was taken off for anything but precautionary reasons.
Without Cesc in the game, there's always a chance of things quickly going south for us and the match snowballing.
Ach - August 22, 2009 08:07 PM (GMT)
Celtic scored 5 so they'll be feeling confident.
Ok, it was against some team no ones ever heard of but a goals a goal
Rkane - August 22, 2009 11:01 PM (GMT)
3-1 on Wednesday.
Syn, do your work :good:

2-1. :good:
Reckon they'll score to make us a sweat a bit, but our quality will come through.

He might be out for a couple of weeks they're not sure how serious the injury is yet :(
McNamara That Ghost... - August 23, 2009 09:14 AM (GMT)
It's an international break after the Man Utd game so a hamstring injury wouldn't be timed that badly.
:ninja:
However if you can't tell how serious a hamstring injury is straight off-hand, it should be an encouraging sign. Written more in hope than anything I accept.
Jens' Face - August 23, 2009 12:27 PM (GMT)
without Cesc, I don't think we have much chance of getting a win. We could do a draw, which would be fine in our competition with manyoo, but no use in our competition with Chelsea, Liverpool, or of course Tottnumb.
Rkane - August 23, 2009 12:39 PM (GMT)
A draw away to Utd this week will be a fine result.
Arshavinslittlelegs - August 23, 2009 09:50 PM (GMT)
I'm fairly confident Cesc will be back for Manusa. If not rosicky will start :good:
Ach - August 24, 2009 03:47 AM (GMT)
Time for Wilshere to step up tbh.
Use this game to bed him in and then start him against Mancs.
Ive not paid £9m for a player to just see him on the bench
Dog Toffee - August 24, 2009 03:28 PM (GMT)
Hes only just 17, throwing him on away to United is a bit silly. We need Diaby, Denilson and Song to keep things tight.
Wilshere probably wont even travel.
bergstar - August 24, 2009 03:47 PM (GMT)
I'd guess the 3 midfield will be Song, Denilson and Diaby. That would make sense, ahead of that i'd guess Arshavin, RVP and Bendtner / Eduardo.
No disrespect to Celtic but at 2-0 up there's a case for playing those 3 more athletic players in the midfield ahead of cesc even if he was fit
Dog Toffee - August 24, 2009 03:52 PM (GMT)
I think we'l go for a 5 man midfield, its worked wonders there in the past.
---------------Almunia-----------

With Diaby as attacking midfield (he can track back too), and Arshavin on the wing and supporting RvP.

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray has said that he has already decided on his starting XI for the second leg of the Hoops' Champions League qualifier against Arsenal.
The former West Brom boss must front a starting XI worthy of overturning a two goal deficit in the wake of the defeat last week at Celtic Park.
"If we had been sitting here 2-0 up, then I would probably play a different team to one that is 2-0 down and having to score some goals," the BBC quote the manager as saying. "But I am pretty clear in my mind what my team will be."
"When the Arsenal tie came out, my idea of how the team might play was settled pretty quickly. The result of the first leg alters your thought patterns of how you might set up in the second leg.
"I understand that if we lose 2-0 again, I will be judged to have got the team wrong again but if we win 3-0 then hopefully everyone will be pretty happy."
The Bhoys will be without the use of anchorman Landry N'Guemo when they face the Gunners, as with international duty drawing closer, Mowbray has stated that he does not wish to exhaust his Cameroonian star.
"Landry has two international games coming up halfway round the world and if you have the opportunity to look after your players you take it," he concluded. |

We use a 433 up in scotland and win 2-0..so in your opinion we should resort to a 451 at home...with Celtic needing to attack??! Dude you're crazy!
433 is the way to go. We should rip them a new one.

I think he meant for the utd game.
Even then it should our new 4-3-3 formation DogToffee, show the Mancs what were made of.

I think Ramsey is up to the task of playing the Cesc role..I think Arsene thinks so too, thats why he didn't hesitate to replace Cesc with him at the weekend.
Ramsey is more creative than the other 3.

points for effort but if you want to translate the pathetic three into a footballistic dialect, it's Diabilsong.
Elche -- I think you're right about what AW thinks, but I'm not sure that Ramsey is the right choice for tomorrow, where solidity and discipline is more important than creativity. Ramsey definitely can pick a pass and make intelligent runs, but he has fallen down in the past when asked to control the game. (Admittedly, I'm thinking mostly of the Fulham performance, which was a year ago, but I feel like there was another such game, close to the end of the season?)
In any case, on Saturday (a) he came on at halftime with a two-goal lead and (b) Pompey looks to be much worse than even Celtic.

Ramsey will play.
Arsene has said as much in this mornings Press Conference.
He has great confidence in him, and I like that...Because if Cesc was to leave for 40 million squid , why not develop Ramsey to play that role?
Theologooner - August 25, 2009 04:07 PM (GMT)
Wilshere should start as well.
TheJoyOfCesc - August 25, 2009 04:47 PM (GMT)
I'd love Wilshere to play but I can't see it happening. Hopefully he'll be on the bench and can get 20-25 mins under his belt if we go a goal or 2 up.

ARSENE WENGER says Arsenal have what it takes to dump Celtic out of Europe — even without inspirational captain Cesc Fabregas.
The Gunners take on the Scottish giants in the second leg of their Champions League play-off tomorrow night.
The north Londoners are favourites to progress to the group stages having won the first leg 2-0 at Celtic Park last week.
Spanish international Fabregas, 22, will miss the tie after picking up a hamstring strain in the Premier League win over Portsmouth on Saturday.
But boss Wenger reckons his skipper has a chance to be back in action in time for this weekend's league clash with Manchester United.
Wenger said: "Cesc's scan was quite reassuring.
"He has no muscular strain, but it will take a few days to settle down. There is a chance he will be fit for Old Trafford.
"I rest players who I feel need a rest without considering the game after.
"My target is to win tomorrow's game, it's a massive game for us and after that we will see what we do for the weekend.
"It is not job done, it is job to do, to finish. That is how I approach it.
"Celtic have no choice — they will have to come out and have a go at us.
"We will be faithful to our tactical approach and will try to put them under pressure, play very high up and try to win the game."
Celtic manager Tony Mowbray believes it is unwise to write the Bhoys off but admits they are pinning all their hopes on scoring first.
Should Arsenal add a third to the two they scored in the first leg, Mowbray admits the match will effectively be over but he is confident his side will give Wenger some uncomfortable moments.
He said: "It's a difficult task after the first leg but it's a game we're looking forward to. I've talked about trying to score the first goal.
"In any match the third goal is a very crucial one — it's either when the game's put to bed or the team who was 2-0 up get very nervous.
"We're at half-time in this tie and we need the goal. I don't think Arsene Wenger will have written us off. He's way too good at his job to have done that.
"I'm sure he'd like to score the goal so that he can relax while sitting on the bench.
"But if we score first then he won't be relaxing and it won't be a case of bringing some players off to rest them for Manchester United."

Scottish defender Gary Caldwell, 27, has admitted to being left "surprised" when he learned of Arsenal's complaints to the press regarding the manner in which Celtic approached the first-leg of the two side's Champions League first leg encounter last week.
"I was surprised to hear some of the comments coming from their camp after the first leg about our 'physical' challenge," he explained to the Daily Mail.
"Tackles go on in football. It's part of the game and I don't think any challenge was malicious on the night.
"Obviously, you might get caught but, as a footballer, I would take it as a compliment if somebody was kicking me. I don't think we are an over-physical team but, if it rattled them, it's something we can use again in this game."
He continued, "The first half-hour of the first leg had nothing in it and, if we had got a deflected free-kick goal on the night, then who knows what would have happened?
"Yes, they've got great quality and were probably the better side, but there wasn't anything in the game. At no point were we over-run or under a lot of pressure defensively."
The final qualifying round is concluded on Wednesday evening, at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium home, at 19:45 BST.
