LuvDeGooners - August 21, 2009 10:14 AM (GMT)
I know it's a bit early for this thread, but
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5504824,00.htmlRio out for a month :jumpnana:
Have a good feeling abou this match.
Save me Jebus! - August 21, 2009 10:28 AM (GMT)
It also says below that that Vidic is making his first start against Wigan on saturday :sulk:
I though he was out for 4 weeks?
McNamara That Ghost... - August 21, 2009 10:34 AM (GMT)
It's about time Vidic earned some points for me in my fantasy side.

While Manchester United will be ruing the one-month absence of centre-back Rio Ferdinand, Arsenal fans will surely be pleased to hear that pacey winger Theo Walcott could be fit for the Old Trafford clash next weekend, as confirmed by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
"There is a slight concern but we believe it is a question of days and not of weeks," Wenger explained to This Is London.
"We will see [if he is fit to face United next Saturday]. It is always difficult to set a date.
"I thought he would be available for Celtic, I thought he would be available for Everton, but he wasn't.
"That's why we will be cautious," he concluded.
The Southampton academy product has been nursing a back injury but is expected to be fit and fresh over the next few days, however, he is unlikely to start against Portsmouth, who travel to Arsenal in the north London side's first home game of the season.

Is Ferdinand DEFINITELY out of this game??
Because VDS is also out for awhile too!
Defensively United could be vulnerable

Ferdinand is definitely out, yeah; and I think VDS is too. Vidic will be back against us but, I think, not against Wigan this weekend, so it will be his first game of the season.
--------------------- Foster
Brown/O'Shea -- Vidic -- Evans -- Evra
that's pretty solid, but certainly not impenetrable
I'm taking more confidence from the difficulty they're having scoring. I think that's a more serious problem for them, and a greater boon for us.
The Madness of King Jens - August 21, 2009 06:37 PM (GMT)
These things have a way of working out for Manchester United.
I think we can probably afford a loss in this game, given how early it is in the season.

While it would not be nice, it is an away game to a big4 side, so it is not that bad an issue. Not like losing to Hull or anything.
Marc Overmars - August 21, 2009 07:42 PM (GMT)
Bring them on. Hope we take advantage of their injury plagued defence.
Milla - August 21, 2009 09:15 PM (GMT)
No doubt 2-0 for Manc, Rooney and Park to score. :coffee:
Save me Jebus! - August 22, 2009 12:31 AM (GMT)
Fuck you all!
We will win 3-0 :scarf:

Yes, we can (two can play at this childish game, sunny Jim)

If we lose hen so be it but a loss will probably start a collapse as usual as well as giving Mancs confidence after their poor star to the season.
If we get something out of this game especially with i being at the prawn market, it will deflate the mancs and keep them at arms length from us

True, if history is anything to go by, a defeat would knock our confidence, perhaps irrevocably.
However, on the face of things, looking at our fixtures, a seemingly straightforward defeat wouldn't be too damaging (i.e. no 6-1 demolition or last minute heartbreaker)
McNamara That Ghost... - August 24, 2009 07:18 AM (GMT)
Will Vidic be suspended in time for this after hitting out on Rodallega?
Also, Man Utd have to decide whether they send Evans for surgery - his persistant injury flared up again this weekend apparently.

Of course not nothing has been mentioned of it, they didn't even condem it on MOTD, just the reaction.
Once again a United player gets away with it
Marc Overmars - August 24, 2009 01:52 PM (GMT)
I'm going. :woohoo:
My uncle can't make it so he's kindly passed his seat on to me. My first trip to Old Trafford, lets hope it's a good one. :jumpnana:

hope you have no short legs and small hips as the seating is tiny/narrow and standing is cosy!
The food is shit so go early and find the food chain places just up the road :good:
Never been to such a quiet place :tumbleweed:

the good news -- for us, for the free world -- is that apparently Webb didn't see it or include it in his match report. This opens it up to FA review. Seems to me a pretty open-and-shut case: off with his head.
Michael Westen - August 24, 2009 02:44 PM (GMT)
Unfortunately, i cant use voodoo since we actually do suck and you lot dont this season.
But, since you lot always managed to play well against us when you sucked, hopefully we can do the same and get something.
The Wengerbabies - August 24, 2009 05:11 PM (GMT)
------------------Almunia
Sagna-----Gallas-----Vermaelen-----Clichy
------------------Song
------Cesc/Denilson------Diaby
Bendtner-------RvP----Arshavin
If Diaby plays well we can own the midfield only troule is he played well on Saturday so isnt due a good performance for a while.
If Cesc isn't fit then Denilson should play although it will probably be Cesc/Diaby not Cesc/Denilson
Ach - August 24, 2009 06:42 PM (GMT)
Denilson deserves to stay in
Michael Westen - August 25, 2009 12:30 PM (GMT)
Vidic has been let off by the FA but Evans looks doubtful.

SAF is going to be so scared of Arshavin against his crock 4 Gallas is going to score a hat-trick with his arse :good:

The thing is, I wouldn't actually be that surprised
Czech Out Rosicky - August 26, 2009 11:40 PM (GMT)
If we have Rosicky fit to start, that would replace Cesc perfectly with Denilson and Song covering. If he can only be on the bench, Diaby has looked good and will be a real asset on the counter attack.
Either way we must be confident
Rkane - August 26, 2009 11:46 PM (GMT)
I'll be happy with a draw.

I dreamt we lost 3-2.
However I also dreamt that Livepool lost to Bolton (who were cleverly disguised as Sunderland).
