Title: Arsenal deceiving the Fans ?

Hey when I was a kid, I was economical with the truth all the time, at least that’s what I called it, but I don’t expect it from the club I support and love.

Let me first explain that before I renewed my season tickets yet again, I wanted to be sure that the boss would be buying some much needed talent and that me like all the other season ticket holders would not be funding project youth again for yet another year, Arsene made all the right noises about how he needs to strengthen and that two or three players would be coming in. Great, at last!

People have often said why would Arsenal lie, the fact that we pay the most in world football for our tickets should at least guarantee us a few signings but no, every season we seem to sell more than we buy, but this season would be different, the boss said NO-ONE WOULD BE LEAVING and we would be buying, he said that not me.

Arsenal said there was a waiting list for tickets and that Club level was to be capped at a 1,000. So the inference is, hurry up boys or we’ll give them to someone else. In fact they said this…

…Be first in line for Club Level seats in Season 2009/2010
The Club Level Waiting List capped at 1,000 members to ensure that as many Waiting List members as possible are given the opportunity to purchase season tickets for the following season.

So you know what? With the promise of not selling, and the statement of buying in areas we need strengthening, I renewed, as did many others.

Hey, and guess what? This week I received a letter from Arsenal, from Russell Bodycomb, head of hospitality, that a small number of Club level tickets have been released and if I bought one or introduced a friend, they would give me a FREE meal in the buffet for each ticket sold. Wow, a FREE meal!

So what about the waiting list then? It would also explain the huge amount of empty seats I see at the ground, it’s not just club level, it’s all over, yet again another great example of Arsenal and the economy with the truth. Get us to sign up and then spend nothing.

Please don’t tell me we bought Vermaelen, he was out of the so called £13 million budget for transfers, Arshavin was out of last seasons Hleb money and since then we sold Kolo and Adebayor.

Arsene said he would only buy if the player he bought was better than what we have, so in that case, by definition, we must have the best players in the world then.

Enough said, I just wanted to share that latest little fib with you all.

Yes I know we have had a great start, but one swallow doesn’t make a summer, and yes 4-3-3 is proving a big hit, so why didn’t he think of that one last year, we had over 60 games to try it.

Anyway I move on, I mentioned Faye White yesterday and saying how she broke her jaw against Holland, my mistake, it was against Finland, however the final starts tonight against Germany at 5pm on BBC2, the Germans have already booked their winners party, I hope you all join me in watching and cheering the girls on to victory.

Cesc scored yesterday and Andre had a blinder, no one from Arsenal played for England so I have no idea what happened in that game, save Eduardo scored, but Robin had a nice little square up with manc thug Darren Fletcher, he was probably telling him he wasn’t going to South Africa, ha, ha! Justice for our little Croatian done in Scotland.

Tomas Rosicky joined us in 2006, since he joined he has played a massive 44 games for us, that’s 5 less than Denilson played last season, however you’ll be pleased to know Tomas managed to play an hour for the Czech national side last night in their game against San Marino, now I expect to see Tomas affording the club that have paid his wages for the last 3 years the same respect. I expect to see Tomas starting against Man City.

That’s about it today, not a bitch fest, but just another example of the fans being deceived by the club we all love, but we’ll keep paying because it’s our team, it’s just a shame they feel the need to keep having us over. Remember last season? We just asked for clarity and honesty, ho, hum.

Have a great day Grovers, I’m in and out and Pedro’s off to some concert, so if you’re new please be patient, I’ll get to you, I promise

he must be low on the list I had my "limited numbers" Club Level offer weeks ago and apparently am still 14,000+ away from a "normal" season ticket...so expect a normal ticket by mid season <_<

Big companies lie and Wenger and co have done so for many years. I can't see how he was so surprised. Welcome to the real world.

cant see what was so wrong in what he wrote. our club is run by a bunch of mugs and a manager who rattles the same BS every season. I think they are more deserving of the honor you gave the writer of the article.

Our club is not run by mugs, they make sure they are looking to the future as well as the present.

Newcastle are run by mugs

totally. I am getting pretty sick of this guy.

you want a successful club able to compete with the rest, well, this is part of it.

This bit, imo, gives a perspective on his thinking:

Then what money did we spend on Nasri?

actually, it means either that our players are better than those available to us to buy or that the players we have now will END UP being better than those available players.

No supporter would advocate getting rid of Wilshere in order to bring in Malouda, who is right now far far better than Wilshere. The principle is the same in our cm. The only difference is that fans disagree with Wenger's rating of Denilson, Song, and Diaby.

It's not the specific errors he makes in facts or logic that bothers me. It's that his errors aren't neutral. All his mistakes support his contention that the club and/or AW are both immoral and incompetent. I often wonder what bloggers think their job is. Surely LeGrove can't be suffering under the delusion that he's providing accurate information or objective analysis?

Darth Vela - September 10, 2009 10:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah, we lie.

Would it have been better to say, 'We want rid of that lanky waste of space up front and if we can get anything for our headless wonder at the back he's going out'? Man City are dumb but they weren't going to pay what we were asking if we said we were willing to sell.

As far as I'm concerned, we're stronger this year than last, he has his right to bitch ofc but if he can't see that the odd bit of half-truth or lies helps our cause rather than hinders it then I'd say he's rather naive and probably looking on the down-side rather than the considerable up-side of the club atm.

sorry but he renewed his season ticket and now thinks that gives him the right to demand more players are bought?

what a clown

Maxzimus - September 11, 2009 08:09 AM (GMT)
Clearly he wouldn't have renewed had he known we weren't going to sign players and sell more than we bought.

To be honest considering the prices of these tickets you can hardly blame the guy, you're paying top whack and probably expect a few new signings for your money.

Seems to me many Arsenal fans accept the situation but how many cough up 2 grand for a ticket? We can make excuses for a lot of things but I don't think you can excuse the lack of signings this summer, we had the money and we did need strenghtening in areas.

Sure we started well but it's at the tail end of the season it really hits, moreover we do have a bunch of inury prone players and have not really added the steel in midfield we could have.

If you went to a shop and they told you that this T-shirt you bought wouldn't run you'd expect it to be the case, if it did you'd want your money back...is this any different?

If I'd paid nearly 2 grand based on a bunch of lies I'd be a bit concerned too, who wouldn't be!

Then he should STFU and sell it to someone else then. Proof is in the pudding and all that.

Maybe he has noone to sell it to, or maybe he can't get all his money back. Selling a ticket for nearly two grand is never going to be easy in this day and age...whatever the club say about waiting lists.

Rkane - September 11, 2009 09:04 AM (GMT)
Well there's always an excuse not to do something - it comes down to how badly you want it really.

Maxzimus - September 11, 2009 09:34 AM (GMT)
Maybe but I suggest getting the full amount would be hard, I mean he can't take it back to Arsenal and say I want my money back, or can he?

Nasri Scoreng - September 11, 2009 01:44 PM (GMT)
I think the article in the OP is a little pathetic. Does buying a club level ticket come with a guarantee that the club will make the purchases you want? No.

Its not some kind of contract that requires the club to behave in the way you want -its buying a seat to watch a team managed and administered independently of those who come to watch it.

You don't like it - don't buy it next year.

This doofus will be leading the charge if we win a trophy and he will be pleased to say he was there.

So complain if Club level falls short of the food; drink; seats etc that you have contracted to buy, and complain like all of us if you don't like what you see. But don't pretend that the club somehow owes you transfers 'cos it just doesn't work like that.
