Title: vieira in jan?

Nayan - September 21, 2009 04:53 PM (GMT)
according to ANR (yeah I know)

vieira wouldve been here but we didnt get the 0.75mill to inter on time and it will now happen in jan.

Would love to see it I must say. Imagine being able to bring him on to stabilise things and shore up a nice boring lead, when the lads have managed to be a bit more kindasortaclinicalish and convert say 2 out of 24567 shots on target?

Inter Milan v Udinese Win to Nil: Inter Milan 13/8
Patrick Vieira claims he will quit Inter Milan if he is not given more playing time.

The midfielder has been at the San Siro since 2006 but has found himself a bit part player of late behind Dejan Stankovic, Esteban Cambiasso, Javier Zanetti and Sulley Muntari in the pecking order.

The former Arsenal star was left out of the France squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers yesterday and, with South Africa 2010 just around the corner, the 33-year-old has revealed he could seek a move in January.

"If nothing changes then yes (I will leave)," Vieira told L'Equipe. "I need rhythm, a run of matches at a high level.

"I don't want to make any conclusions before December.

"If my situation hasn't changed from now until then, I will take the necessary decisions.

"If I don't play a lot more it could be problematic."

Would love to see him back at the club, a leader a winner and someone who can give us that extra fire we definitely lack.

Adebayor-RVP punch-up /Vieira medical /Fabregas/Jack Wilshere
By Myles Palmer

A month ago I was told that Wenger had wanted to sell Adebayor for 15 months before he did so.

Now I'm told that Adebayor had a training ground punch-up with Van Persie and Bendtner 16 or 17 months ago.
That was when Wenger decided to unload him. And that explains a lot.

Following on from my story that PATRICK VIEIRA was coming but Arsenal didn't get the money to Inter Milan in time on deadline day, confirmation that Vieira (1) had a medical (2) passed the medical and (3) will come in January.

Can someone whose brain works recall whether that would have predated the headbutt vs. spurs Bendtner?

Despite Arsene Wenger's insistence last week that he would not be pressurised into spending the £40million sitting in his transfer fund, plans are advanced for the January transfer window, with a number of signings expected.

The return of Inter Milan's Patrick Vieira, mooted in the summer but eventually dismissed by Wenger, is back on the agenda.

With Cameroon's Alex Song at the Africa Cup of Nations in January, Vieira may yet earn his dream return to Arsenal as temporary cover and would provide valuable leadership in the months of the season when the trophies are decided.

The link above says in the title that Tim Cahill is on Wenger's radar yet nothing in the article

i think Vieira in January is a done deal, he'll play in front of the back four which will allow Cesc to worry about his own job rather than worry about his and the DM role too, plus it will allow Tom and Willy to go forward more often as they have so far proved that they can score a goal or 3...

And is it really going to hurt the likes of Song, Denilson etc to learn from one of the greats...??

JackTheLad19 - October 4, 2009 10:07 AM (GMT)
Looks like the papers've been reading Myles Palmer...NOTW Vieira story's an exact copy of his 'exclusive'

Yeah, don't be surprised if he ends up at the Bridge, covering Essien & Mikel at ACON time.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wenger brought back Vieira to the emirates to play at CB in the future. When he was at Arsenal, Wenger often commented that he thought Vieira may move to CB in the future.

Aside from Vieira's long legged running and engine, his biggest strengths were - positioning, tackling, ability to read the game and disrupt it, height and leadership - the core attributes of a centreback.

And let's face it - if we lost Gallas/Vermaelen then we don't have much back up - Nortveidt is on loan and developing, Djourou injured, Senderos has been judged as lacking the necessary attributes and Silvestre will always be found out by top class teams.

Not saying it will happen, just could happen.

Interesting, although I thought you had to be speedy given the high line we like to keep.

compared to before yes.
could he still add value though?

makalele did at an advanced age at chelsea.
pretty sure davids helped bring carrick along when they almost nicked 4th spot.

When's the last time Vieira played decently well for club or country?

chalk and cheese...maka's game is very different to vieira's...watch how they operated at the last world cup

davids even at an advanced age was much more dynamic (and durable) than paddy (look up how many games he missed for inter over the last few seasons).

LONDON (AFP) – Didier Drogba wants Chelsea to bring in ex-Arsenal star Patrick Vieira if the club can waive a FIFA transfer ban.

The Premier League leaders are appealing against the embargo on signing new players.

Drogba says veteran midfield hardman Vieira should be the first name on Ancelotti's wish-list for the January transfer window.

"It would be a good move for Chelsea to bring Patrick in," the Ivory Coast centre forward told The Sun.

"Don't forget we are going to miss several players in January, particularly in midfield, because of the African Nations Cup.

"We played against Vieira last summer and he was very strong."

The Frenchman, currently out of favour at Inter Milan, would offer Ancelotti cover for Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel, who will both be on African Nations Cup duty.

The 33-year-old Vieira was spotted at Stamford Bridge on Sunday when Chelsea returned to the top of the league by beating Liverpool.

Drogba can fuckoff tbh.

Paddy back with us! wouldn't be against it but it would be a very short stop gap we should be looking for a stronger midfielder who has age on his side for the future!

heard that Drogba won't go to the ANCup

as he is up to represent Ivory Coast in the 50metre platform diving competition at the African swimming championship which is taking place at the same time

personally I think he wouldn't look out of place doing synco swimming!!!!
