Doesn't look as far fetched now.

The Madness of King Jens - September 26, 2009 05:49 PM (GMT)
He looks like he should be working for Vito Corleone rather than standing between 2 goalposts.

If he keeps a clean sheet, though, who gives two hoots what he looks like.

49er - September 26, 2009 06:17 PM (GMT)
Not sure about next buffon yet mate

but one thing for sure

Vito >>>>>>>>>> Manuel 'Fawlty' Almunia

fari - September 26, 2009 06:29 PM (GMT)
after today's game i say give almunia some more time to recover from his errr chest infection

Sagna Claus - September 26, 2009 06:30 PM (GMT)

Got to agree.

Give the lad a chance, he's fucking deserved it.

Make Manuel and Lukazz at it, work their way back into the team.

The Wengerbabies - September 26, 2009 06:31 PM (GMT)
I am sorry for ridiculing the suggestion after todays game

Mannone

Arshavinslittlelegs - September 26, 2009 06:40 PM (GMT)
I said this in the match thread: Mannones performence reminds me of Casillas's debut in the CL...a baptism of fire and both passed with flying colours.

I gladly take back what I said about this kid.

Almunia and Fabianski look beaten before the opponent shoots. Mannone and Wojisky have this solidity about them that the former two do not.

:haha:

I miss the "Mannone is crap cos he was shite at Barnsley" days

Nayan - September 26, 2009 06:49 PM (GMT)
manone > fabianski.

cant say much more than that yet.

even tho CL is a bit more of a bonfire than fulham away.
don't get me wrong, don vito was amazing!

Clear he's a great shot stopper - tbf I actually think he milked one of those saves in the second half! could've just caught it - but effectively he got a hat-trick today pulled out three saves to deny otherwise certain goals - the save from the shot across him was immense.

Looks quite secure on claiming the ball from corners too. Just need to see how he holds up at the other GK aspects now - but all could so far & would be a travesty if he didn't keep his place.

Szezeny, looked comfotable Tuesday too, Shea gets good reports. One thing for sure we don't need all the GK's we have now - at least one needs to be flogged in January.

I was thinking that, he could perhaps of held on to more then he did but whatever he played well :scarf:

Almunia could use a few Given videos too...not that it'd do any good of course....can't teach an old dog new tricks you see :coffee:

Hes young.

He wants to show off.

Given is 30+ and should know better.

Mannone>Given tbh

Was saying to my mate in the pub that there'll be one retard somewhere saying Mannone is the next Buffon, purely because he's Italian. And here he is.

Italys 3rd choice for the World cup next summer

TheJoyOfCesc - September 26, 2009 07:29 PM (GMT)
e did well today. Lets hope he can build on this and get more confidence. He was very nervous in the last CL game.

To be fair to Bik, he was merely asking the question if he is the next Buffon. Not he is the next Buffon.

Oh yeah for real. I can definately see that happening. If he`s playing regularly for us, i don`t see why not. Behind Buffon, it`s pretty open for the other keeper spots.

Italians don't trust young people generally and Vito doesn't play in Italy so has an even less chance of getting a look in.
