Title: Arda Turan To Sign In July?

Galatasaray midfielder Arda Turan is interested in joining Arsenal next summer, according to the player's agent.
The 22-year-old winger has made 86 appearances for the Istanbul giants - scoring 22 times - since breaking onto the first-team scene in 2004.
And with the youngster having already represented the senior Turkey team on 34 occasions, after featuring at every level from U16 to U21, interest in his services inevitably increased, with the Gunners and Liverpool linked with moves for the midfielder earlier this summer.
A transfer to either failed to materialise, with Galatasaray desperate to keep hold of the prize asset.
However, Turan's representitive, Ahmet Bulut, has revealed that the player is keen on working under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium, and would be willing to sign on the dotted line in 12 month's time.
“At this moment in time I have no contact with any clubs. I had a lot of interest in the summer for him, but the club did not want to sell him," he told Sport.co.uk.
"He is now the new captain of Galatasaray, so I don't think he will be sold in January. However, I do think he will be sold in July.
“In the summertime Arsenal made contact regarding him, but the club did not want to sell. He is interested in working under Arsene Wenger because he is very good at working with young players, and Arda wants to work in England.
“Arsenal are interested, and if they want him, Arda's first choice is Arsenal.” |
We have enough CAMs but good to see decent players that want to join us :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Clearly our new DM of choice.

Why would we play a winger in the middle? That would seem like looking for problems. As it is, he'd be behind Arshavin/Rosicky/Bentdner/Theo/Vela/Nasri for a wide position so he's entirely unnecessary but talented, like so many of our squad.

F defence, lets fill our team with midget technical players! :whacky:
In all seriousness I would love it if we got him.

Bendtner, Theo and Vela are strikers. Arsha is a No. 10, Rosicky and Nasri are cms. It would be great if AW bought a winger and actually played him on the wing....so he'll buy this kid and play him in the centre :coffee:
Bunk Moreland - October 7, 2009 07:26 PM (GMT)
He's clearly not a central attacking midfielder.
JackTheLad19 - October 7, 2009 07:26 PM (GMT)
He looked genuine quality in the Euros...but we don't need him. Probably the position we least need a new face

My sources say this is a done deal.
The only thing that held it up this long is that AW knows that Arda will consign Arshavin to the bench, and AW didn't want to have unhealthy rivalry in the squad so soon after Ade left.

according to a Turkish mate of mine, it's common knowledge in Turkey that Arda is going to sign for Arsenal.
but he also said that we'd sign Gokhan Zan and Franck Ribery from Galatasaray. :coffee:
