Title: Sin Bins At The World Cup?

Warner, a Concacaf representative on Fifa’s 24-strong executive committee, revealed a task force had been formed to examine the possibility of mimicking the way such punishments are used in rugby and ice hockey. Its findings will be presented at a Fifa meeting in Cape Town in December.
It is believed proposals could include sending any player who fakes injury to gain an advantage or engages in “simulation” to win a penalty or free-kick to a sin-bin for five minutes.
“We have to keep the sport entertaining for spectators,” Warner told Sky News. “It cannot be a sport where people simulate and fake. It cannot be. We have to change that.
“For example, a guy fakes an injury and he acts as if it is the end of the world, and then after you give him the foul he then flies up and kicks the ball. That guy should be sent off, and he should be sent off for five minutes.”
Asked if sin-bins could be brought in for the World Cup, Warner replied: “Most definitely.”
It is believed several other proposals will also come under consideration.
While Fifa is determined not to allow cheating to disfigure next summer’s tournament, it has consistently rejected the idea of employing video technology to punish divers retrospectively, while the organisation’s president, Sepp Blatter, insisted last week that he “does not think” simulation is “so terrible”.

No No and once again NO. A five-minute cool-off period is absolutely no deterrent whatsoever, and most importantly doesn't do anything for the team who would then have the 'PowerPlay'. Hope I haven't given them an idea by using that term by the way....
The fact that Poll wants it speaks volumes (four years too late to save him though  )
Oh, and Warnker: :fingers:

Sin bins are stupid -- but what's even more stupid is coming up with stupid ideas when the solution is obvious
it's maddening :censored:

That's a bad way to implement it but a sin-bin every yellow would cut down on the cheating in the game for sure, no more cynical fouls for (fairly) meaningless yellows and it would only take a few times for someone missing 5m due to kicking the ball away before all that petulant crap is stopped as well.

Warner is a corrupt fuctard who should be jailed. Resold 2006 WC tickets given to him by FIFA for a cool $1m, and when challenged by the BBC he told them to 'Go fuck yourselves'.

Sin bins work really well in rugby union & to a lesser extent rugby league - achieve exactly what they should, so i would be in favour of a way of implementing into football.
The problems are in rugby - the yellow card is the sin bin - there are not 2 cards in play as well as the sin-bin - so could end up with 11 or 12 sin-bins a match in football.
The other point is that red-cards or time off the field for a player in football - is nowhere near as important as all it's cracked up to be by managers who rant on about the sending off / non sending off affecting the result.
Most good sides regularly practice with 10 men, unless it's a keeper in the 2nd minute, it often alters nothing in the game, so a player going off for 10 minutes won't make a slightest difference.
