Title: Anyone else worried about the upcoming NLD?
newguy - October 25, 2009 08:49 PM (GMT)
I'm worried that even if we do have a lead we will blow it. It's actually bothering me that West Ham just seemed more up for the game, yes they were at home and needed whatever points they could grab, but the application from them was there for all to see.
They were hungry and didnt give up, Spurs are gonna be tough next week as they wil be up for it, will Wenger be able to get these guys focused for our next big game?
and if the worst happens, what will be the fallout?
21_GOONER_SALUTE - October 25, 2009 08:55 PM (GMT)
If the worst happens and we lose, life will continue just like the way it has always continued under AW- we'll all just look forward to next season.

West Ham were shit for 70 mins.
As for Spuds, not worried at all
Marc Overmars - October 25, 2009 09:01 PM (GMT)
Always get nervy about NLD's, particuarly now as Spurs aren't the push overs they once were.
TBH I can see it being another end to end game which lots of goals, hopefully we come out on top.
Whatever - October 25, 2009 09:02 PM (GMT)
hopefully our fullback are up for it or lennon's pace will rip us to shreds

If he plays
21_GOONER_SALUTE - October 25, 2009 09:07 PM (GMT)
BTW still think we should win seeing as the spuds lost at home against high and mighty Stoke, so really we have no excuse as they should be more demoralised than our set of overpaid babies.
Whatever - October 25, 2009 09:17 PM (GMT)
you probably haven't seen the match, but in the first 65 mins Spurs were very good...if they play half as good next weekend, we will be struggling
Gubby-Allen - October 25, 2009 09:27 PM (GMT)
I'm not worried about the first 86 minutes at all.
Ach - October 26, 2009 02:13 AM (GMT)
We havent beaten them since Dec 07 if i remember correctly
2-1 i think where Almunia saved Keanes penalty. A match winning save which he never does tbh
:Zimm:
JackTheLad19 - October 26, 2009 07:24 AM (GMT)
It'll obviously be tough. We have it in us to beat them but the Spuds do score goals and if we make more basic errors we'll be vulnerable.
Anything but a repeat of last time at the Emirates though, dont think I could take that

im always worried when it comes around. Our biggest fuckup last season was not worrying enough
Maxzimus - October 26, 2009 08:30 AM (GMT)
Could be a very tough match, I have to say last few matches we haven't been playing paticularly well and this setback yesterday could knock our confidence.
It has seemed in recent years like Spurs come out of the blocks quicker so I hope it's not the case next week. The other problem is everyone knows we're a soft touch defensively so this is going to be a very nervy match indeed.
I'm hoping Crosicky is back.
JackTheLad19 - October 26, 2009 09:04 AM (GMT)
The fact that we've just let leads slip late on in the last 2 games and we're at the same scene and fixture of the most epic injury time fail in recent history doesn't bode well.

Don't need to worry about losing the lead we'll be 3 nil down at half time due to Keane hat-trick :coffee: although it's all irrelevant as 'pool are up for the quadruple this year :trophy:

Never enjoy watching these games, sit behind the sofa is best, and if we do go 2 up, we all know it aint over by a long shot

mystic Left Foot :sulk:
Goonersweb in "we can't finish off teams shock realisation"...could be pretty much any season in the last 5 seasons tbh we go through this every bloody year just when we look like we have found the winning mentality the foot comes off the gas and we roll over :banghead:
selassie - October 26, 2009 09:35 AM (GMT)
Yes, when will our team learn to close a game out?

Grebbo - October 26, 2009 10:25 AM (GMT)
If we play Vito then we won't win the game.
Him versus Crouch on crosses will be painful to watch.
bergstar - October 26, 2009 08:59 PM (GMT)
They'll score, nothing more certain, can we outscore them ?
Bunk Moreland - October 26, 2009 09:02 PM (GMT)
If King and Woodgate are out then possibly.
It really is a must to score the first 3 goals, we might win then. :coffee:

nearly had a heart attack when bentley scored last season.
if that had been the winner id have faked my own death.

Didnt he score rather early?
Had enough time to turn it around so not worrying that much
Grebbo - October 27, 2009 09:31 AM (GMT)
We won't win if we play Vito. They've got decent strikers and will just flood the box. I'll be shitting myself if Wenger picks him.
Maxzimus - October 27, 2009 09:40 AM (GMT)
The thing is they've had some indifferent results recently, problem is last season they were on a horrible run when they faced us if I'm not mistaken and still managed to get a 4-4 draw that felt like a defeat for us.

And then went on to beat Liverpool (I think?). They were on a bad run but they'd just got Harry in and so we had the 'new manager' effect.
Frankly, we battered them last year. We committed suicide with a slip from Clichy and some plain bad defending, we were far the better team.
I'm not too worried about Saturday.

We were better than them but it counts for nothing at the end of the day.....it's all about the 3 points.
Psychologically we're at a bit of a disadvantage because we know we give leads away very easily and so do they....that's bound to keep them going even if they're behind.
I think it'll be tough, I really hope Rosicky can be fit for this because that would be a major boost.
RVP Left Foot - October 27, 2009 10:20 AM (GMT)
Bet they put a full side out on sat, lennon return, woodgate, king .
Grebbo - October 27, 2009 10:35 AM (GMT)
We raped them at home but they were the better team at their place.
Be an interesting game. According to some yiddos I know a lot of the old school crowd are coming to our place as they fancy getting a result. They've stayed away for the past 10 years
Maxzimus - October 27, 2009 10:51 AM (GMT)
I think teams will fancy a result against us as if you play us in the right way you can really put our nose out of joint.
I'd basically makes sure everyone goes in with tackles and use a more physical approach, works almost everytime. If you give us time on the ball we're deadly but if you don't it's a different story.
Moreover even if you're 2-0 down you still have a chance.

I think the opposite, I think the West Ham result was the kick up the ass we needed and thus we will be up for it come saturday.
McNamara That Ghost... - October 27, 2009 11:00 AM (GMT)
I think the Spuds will be without a few key players so nah not all that worried right now. I'll still be as nervous as hell on matchday though but that's the same for any match really.
Elche - October 27, 2009 11:05 AM (GMT)
This game will be a marker to our season or theirs depending on the result.
It we can tank them, it'll show the rest something.
If they turn us over they'll gather belief and momentum

It won't, it never does....history (last 3-4 years) supports this.
We may well win, but we're never out of the blocks that quickly...we'e not he type of team that comes out and chases the opposition down and tackles, the way Liverpool sometimes do.
We tend to come into games at a more gradual pace. Ocassionally we've been rattled by teams who have come out of the blocks quickly but they've failed to put their chances away.
McNamara That Ghost... - October 27, 2009 11:08 AM (GMT)
I'd say it goes back even further than that. Since 2003 I can remember it happening.
