Looks quite impressive, the single tier looks good. They reckon it'll cost around 400 million...wonder where they're going to find that money.
If they still manage to spend heavily in that time, it'll be annoying.
The Wengerbabies - October 27, 2009 10:04 AM (GMT)
Other than the single tier it looks very similar to the Emirates
St. Jimmy - October 27, 2009 10:07 AM (GMT)
What's with the single teir? What's the point int that?

I did hear something about that, it's supposed to create a better atmosphere or something.

Does look good. Not sure why they're quoting £400m though. They haven't had to buy the site or anything.
The area is an absolute toilet though.

Looks cool.
Yeah the single tier is the only thing that distinguishes from the Emirates.

Depends if you mean in terms of Silverware, if that's the case they've been more successful in the last 4 1/2 years. :coffee:

Hey!
What do you mean 'sometimes'?
Grebbo - October 27, 2009 12:06 PM (GMT)
Having read a few Spud forums :yikes: they rekon the stadium will be fully paid for by the stadium naming rights deal and they won't go into debt!
If they pull that off then Levy is a genius. He did get £10m a year out of Mansion so you never know.

I never said I'd swap it, it still p*sses me off to see them spend huge fortunes whilst we seem to struggle to recruit anyone despite where they end up....new signings are exciting and I'd like to see a few more.
Seeing us sign one player all summer and then seeing the same problems appearing this season is frustrating as we could have brought in a couple more than might have helped.
Doesn't always help of course but at least it shows you're trying to sort things out.

Regardless of where then end up, doesn't change the fact I'd like us to spend more and feel we should have in recent years.

What was stupid about my comment? :)
Your initial comment was the stupid one.
I don't care if we spend a lot or a little - I want success.
I'd rather have what we have than what they have spent shedloads of money on.

I disagree after all where is our success?
We haven't spent much and have sold a fair amount and have won nothing, wouldn't hurt to sign some quality where it's needed to try and win something.
It's worked in the past. We're not that far from being a genuinely very good side, but I feel that without the investment we may never take that step to becoming a top top side who win things.
Darth Vela - October 27, 2009 12:40 PM (GMT)
Which part do you disagree with?
I can't imagine someone wanting to spend more on sucess rather than less so, you'd rather be where Spurs are now than where we are?
It will be annoying if Spurs are able to do this without plunging themselves into a dark place full of debt and despair, it's a nice stadium though and would probably help us get the World Cup.
Letters (TPFKA WWTL@WHL) - October 27, 2009 12:41 PM (GMT)
I actually think us not winning things is more about mentality than ability.
Spending big won't change that.
I already think we have the ability to win things.
And comparing us with Spurs' spending is a little silly. While I agree it is exciting to be signing players, it's not exactly got them anywhere.

Well other clubs have proved it does equal success....Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers, Man U to an extent.
I'm not suggesting we spend megabucks, simply that we spend in the areas we need to, bring in quality players that we need.
Spurs have had a number of managers who you could argue have either not had long enough or not spent wisely.
Success may well not come with our current policy, I hope it does but it's hard to overlook the defence which just doesn't look capable of winning a title or a trophy.

Mentality may well be part of it, but it doesn't look like it's something that can be changed as we seem the same thing time and time again.
Perhaps players either have the right mentality or don't, I think we're missing some real determination and agression and I can't see that anywhere in the squad.
Stoke are a good example, thei lack quality but they are so determined that they win games through sheer hard work and desire, combine the two and you have the perfect blend.
There's also the question of the state of the defence, which continues to make basic errors time and time again.

How would it?
Zim wants us to spend money, I want success. They are two different things.
We both arent getting what we want. But I reckon I'm happier about it because I enjoy for the most part watching us play and I do like the fact that we play in the ECL.

That is true, but to an extent, I reckon those problems are actually caused by the midfield. I think that needs addressing as well.

I find it annoying that we hardly spend anything on areas we need to spend, it's made worse by watching other clubs splashing the cash so freely.
Spending doesn't always work but it at least shows you're trying to fix something that's broken.

I agree completely, but I think we need more genuine competition at the back because some of our players almost take their positions for granted.
That's fine if you performing well most of the time, but recently certain players have been pretty disappointing and we should be in a position to drop them if that happens.
The midfield is an issue for sure, but we've known that for a while, not sure if it will ever get resolved though because as Wenger has reiterated numerous times it would kille Diaby, Denilson and Song (that was his excuse for not trying to sign Alonso and a number of others)
north bank nutter - October 27, 2009 01:10 PM (GMT)
It looks like the emirates with a kop at one end. Let them build their ponsey stadium and lets see if they fill it.
As for 400 properties they are gonna build in tottenham, it can only be social housing for the local chavs and hoodies because no one would move to that dump.
