I bet CK we wouldn't win today.
It could of been CK's Samosa last week too.
I think I'm going to go through the menu of CK's Curry Joint for future name bets.

Ah, I've heard of Maugham. Orwell thought he was good, I think. Never read anything by him though.

Is Halloween forbidden in the church though (it's pagan right?)?

our evening was an "all saints" party thing, don't know much about halloween's origins, more recent commercialisation etc. but presumably it is pagan. Don't know the history behind all saints day tbh and whether it was moved to Oct 31st in the same way Christmas was moved to Dec 25th (to cover over pagan days of celebration) or is the other way round.

ah ok. didn't realise, not into picking up most of the festivals on the Christian calender tbh.
looked it up on wiki and apparently halloween celebrates all saints eve (similar to Christmas eve), meh :coffee:

There's a clue in the name 'Hallow e'en' - Hallow Evening. (All saints - all hallow.)
(Also, when I was a kid, our church that we attended was called 'All Saints Church' so that is one date I know!)
