Title: Van persie out for two months
Description: (if this were to happen...)
Nayan - November 4, 2009 05:42 PM (GMT)
OK Chill your pants - it hasnt actually happened. Yet
I do wonder how we'd cope if he were out though. Let's face it his fitness record isn't great after all.
Ach - November 4, 2009 05:42 PM (GMT)
Bastard
Made me all happy there
Whatever - November 4, 2009 05:43 PM (GMT)
we could still put out a fairly strong lineup or buy villa in the winter

Eduardo is there... I think he is a better central striker than RVP
Darth Vela - November 4, 2009 05:48 PM (GMT)
We have Eddie and Bendy, it'd be a blow but we'd still be able to keep a run going imo.

At least put "not really" or something in the sub-title.
Anyway, IF we lost RVP for 2 months, to be totally honest, we'd be fucked. He's on another level from Bendtner, Eduardo, Vela, Walcott and anyone else who would like to play as a central striker.
Get Bendtner - November 4, 2009 06:07 PM (GMT)

Done.
Nayan, you gave me a fricken heart attack. :wwf:
JackTheLad19 - November 4, 2009 06:07 PM (GMT)
I'd like to think Eddie could step up, yet to have a run in the team to do it though. Keeps picking up niggles.
We'd miss RVP though, for sure.

He's the best Dutch player in the world according to Koeman, and he knows a thing or two...Also thats some mean feat when you consider they have Drenthe, Wesley, RVN, VDV and Glen Helder Jr
Xaviola - November 4, 2009 06:15 PM (GMT)
I think we ae well covered with Eduardo as long as he stops picking up those niggling injuries. Not sure about Bendtner's finishing ability so that is a worry if both are out.

FUUUUUUUUUUUK.
my heart skipped a beat. tosser.
well, considering rvp's resent form we'd be fucked. as bendy and vela are out too.

oh sorry I thought I did that.
my bad
:haha:
Oh Rocky Rocky - November 4, 2009 10:46 PM (GMT)
He is in great form right now but id like to think, Arshavin Eduardo, Bendy and Walcott could provide some cover and get goals.

thats the point though isnt it - bendter's done his groin, walcott is made of glass and arshavin cant run 10 mins without coughing his guts out.
Wenger gets writeups about his wealth of attacking options along the lines of 'when everyon's fit, he's more spoiled than the guests at the ambassador's ball.'
The reality is more like 'if everyone isnt crocked at the same time- we have options'
I know this sounds paranoid when were top scorers and have just spanked the sccum 3-0 etc but I think its an are for concern I really do.
RVP Left Foot - November 5, 2009 09:26 AM (GMT)

Nasri Scoreng - November 5, 2009 10:38 AM (GMT)
Honest opinion.
We'd buy Chamakh in January. Play Eddie up front, give Arshavin/Rosicky/Nasri a more forward roll and continue to play like a team that has had 17 different goal scorers this season.
Course it would be a blow, but I'd like to think it wouldn't affect us as much as losing Torres blunts Liverpool; losing Rooney would harm Manure or losing Drogba will affect Chelsea.
Nasri Scoreng - November 5, 2009 10:39 AM (GMT)
PS All you heart attack victims - did you not read 'if this were to happen' in the OP title?

I added that bit after I had my near coronary.
Nasri Scoreng - November 5, 2009 10:44 AM (GMT)
Fair enough then :good:
...but even so, for me there would have been a small element of 'meh' given that we are faced with bad injuries week in, week out!

He hasn't been injured long-term now for well over a year, so long may that continue. *touch wood*
Eduardo would get a run of games if RVP got injured and I reckon he'd chip in with a few to ease the worries.
anfield 1989 - November 5, 2009 11:52 AM (GMT)
I think the fear of God that went down most of our spines tell a story upon reading title.
If RVP or Vermalaen (IMHO arguably the player of the season so far) got injured for a bit we could be screwed as that's half the spine gone. The keeper seems to be a non entity, but the other two (Fab and Song seem to be doing well.
I wonder if Denilson will be back to take Song's place at ANC? Song's improved rapidily. Eddie can replace RVP but I dunno when the last time he actually completed a full game. We seem to have some curse with injuries.

Second person already that predicted this
It seems we were living in dreamland, this event was always as sure as death and taxes.
anfield 1989 - November 15, 2009 04:12 PM (GMT)
Quick, Nayan start a Diaby version.
Maxzimus - November 15, 2009 04:13 PM (GMT)
Really bad news for us as he's been outstanding, we seem to have some rotten luck with injuries that's for sure.
Now we have Eduardo and Vela are out only two out and out strikers...and of course Arshavin who I don't really consider a striker.

Have a look at the date of the OP.
Then consider whether we should terminate Nayan humanely or with extreme prejudice.
Nayan - November 15, 2009 06:02 PM (GMT)
hes already delivered most of his typical season haul in terms of assists and goals. obviously this was a half joking thread...
however we were always going to have to test the backup options. lets see how good eduardo really is eh?

No reason why Eduardo or Vela can't do a good enough job against Sunderland.
Theo will be back after that & Bendtner just after.
The 2 Champs Lge games will probably have been second string players like Eduardo & Vela anyway, so doubt RVP would've played.
The only immediate concern before we have a more reasonable quota of strkers is the Chelsea game - and in fairness they've been as shafted by injuries in the last 10 days as we have.
