I'm thinking of ditching my PC and going for one of these bad boys.

Anyone have one? What's the pro's and con's in comparison to a PC?

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: pretty much everything else, I guess.

pros: works. i mean, really. totally.

cons: harder to find suitable streams for matches and... well, that's it.

Ditto.

Mmm. Don't think there's any good reason to get one. Especially now Vista is gone.

I might get one if I someday feel the urge to pay 3x as much for the same processing power and more limited applications.

as far from exhaustive as you can get but:

pros: very stylish and sturdy machines that last for a very long time.
operating system is best on market (well, I can vouch for it being better than me, xp and vista)
fewer viruses
Mac software works very well and is very easy to use.

cons: not many games
some other compatability issues
costs a lot in the short term

also on gw there seems to be a similar level of microsoft fanaticism amongst some as had been the accusation leveled at apple enthusiasts.

Wrong move quoting me, I don't give a damn about computer brand names.

However I do care when it comes to paying exponentially more for that little bit less because it is somehow 'trendy'.

you really do need to look into it more if you think it being a bit trendy is the reason behind it all.

I'm no techy, but I have limited funds so when making purchases like computers, I research my choices fully.

Macs are overpriced and significantly bad value against other comparable specs.

just not the case in the experience of myself or a stack of mac users I know.

the quality of the os and the hardware and the longevity the mac has as a result make it good value.

I've owned several decently spec'd laptops (and currently own a pc) and known of them come close in terms of os, quality of hardware etc. I've had problems with every laptop or pc I've owned not long after buying but have had this macbook pro for a year without any problems, has been a brilliant purchase.

My dad's computer is a Mac. Mine is a PC. My dad's computer is slower and less capable.

The performance related issues have me leaning towards a Mac. I've always had a PC but I've become really exhausted with it lately, so much lag and random freezing. I've tried everything to get rid but it just comes back after a while. My cousin is a bit of an Apple freak so he's been strongly recommending a Mac. The price does seem freakishly high so I'm not going to rush into anything.

Although I could try and blag it as an Xmas present, but my dad will probably tell me to fuck off. :lol:
