Title: Serie A Thread
Cripps - July 23, 2006 12:47 PM (GMT)
If the appeals arent successful and the punishments stand, i guess the title will be between Roma or Inter.
Id back Inter especially if they get Vieira and a couple of other players
northbankgunner - July 23, 2006 12:48 PM (GMT)
Can't see Roma challenging Inter at all. Fiorentina could be up there also if they keep Toni
Philsko - July 23, 2006 12:50 PM (GMT)
Yeah I would put my money on Inter too!
Cripps - July 23, 2006 12:52 PM (GMT)
Fiorentina are in Serie B.
If Inter dont win the title now, they really will be kicking themselves.
Anyone think AC Milan have a chance even with their 15 point deficit?

Well blow me down. Bloody forgot. Just woken up so I'll use that as my excuse.
As for Milan, I think a CL place is well within their grasp, but I can't see them winning the title

Well....Inter seem to have a knack for losing the plot after a spell of good performance.@ Also they will have the distraction of CL. If Milan don't find their way back into UEFA Cup via the back door, they will be able to focus on the domestic league and .....who knows.
Cripps - July 23, 2006 01:11 PM (GMT)
I think AC Milan will get 4th and id think they'd take that.
Inter do have the knack of messing things up but surely they cant this time. They must be overwhelming favorites for the title. They have a lot of good eperienced players. I dont think they'll mess it up this time.

That's why I think they might cock up again.........because the expectation will be so high. We'll have to see whether they do in fact get the better ones among the remaining Juve players (ie Paddy, Trezeguet) as well as Toni.
What about the surprise package (and I don't include Roma there - they should finish within top 4/5) - Palermo maybe?
Cripps - July 23, 2006 01:20 PM (GMT)
Parma maybe. I remember them in the 90s. Brilliant team.
daniele - July 23, 2006 01:29 PM (GMT)
Chievo might be a surprise.
Palermo have bought well with Bresciano and Diana.
Inter are odds on favourite to win it...back-to-back....

Coca Kolo - July 23, 2006 01:48 PM (GMT)

Where's My Username Gone? - July 24, 2006 10:32 AM (GMT)
I'd say Inter but they always seem to cock it up. Atalanta!!!!!!!
Cripps - July 24, 2006 03:31 PM (GMT)
The 4 teams punished are hoping for a quick result on their appeals cos tomorrow is the deadline for registering for Europe so even if they win their appeals they wont get in unless the decision is soon.
TheCrazy58 - July 25, 2006 06:38 PM (GMT)
According to the European Board posters, Gazetta, paper that leaked the original verdict on the 4 teams, reported that only Juve will be relegated and others will stay in Serie A......
Result of the appeal should come out any time now.
TheCrazy58 - July 25, 2006 07:07 PM (GMT)
OK here it is
Juve - stay down in Serie B, 17 points deduction (reduced from 34?)
Milan - in Serie A, points deduction reduced to 7
Lazio - reinstated to Serie A, points deduction reduced to 11
Fiorentina - reinstated to Serie A. points deduction reduced to 19
Whether Milan will be allowed into Champions League to be confirmed later.....
Daniele will be upset ..........
northbankgunner - July 25, 2006 07:11 PM (GMT)
The stupid thing it, Juventus can now get up to Serie A in 1 season <_<
Cripps - July 25, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)
They dont seem that harsh anymore do they?
northbankgunner - July 25, 2006 07:14 PM (GMT)
I feel pretty annoyed now that the punishments have been reduced a lot in some cases. What the hell is the point in giving out punishments, and then reducing them on appeal
Calgarian Gooner - July 25, 2006 07:14 PM (GMT)
Is this thread in danger of being relegated to the bottom of the message board?
northbankgunner - July 25, 2006 07:17 PM (GMT)
Now Milan can play in the CL this season going through the Qualifying rounds, the same as us

They probably meant to give this punishment all the time but thought if they give this straight off, it would seem to lenient so they gave the hefty punishments first and then let them appeal.
TheCrazy58 - July 25, 2006 07:18 PM (GMT)
More breaking news
Milan will be put forward for the Champions League but will have to play in qualifying rounds....
sorry, just saw NBG's post.......
Cripps - July 25, 2006 07:19 PM (GMT)
So which of the teams drop out?
TheCrazy58 - July 25, 2006 07:23 PM (GMT)
Livorno or Empoli......I think it's now Inter, Milan, Chievo and Roma for CL.
daniele - July 25, 2006 07:25 PM (GMT)
fuckin' country fuckin' supporters fuckin' judges.
Italian football just 2 weeks after a WC win has now reached its lowest ever.
I resign from being an Italian. I feel very ashamed.
Don't know what to say. Speechless.
Fiorentina were guilty of fixing 5 games and they will play in Serie A next season. Bonkers.
AC Milan will play in the CL qualifier...Utter nonsense.
Such a sad day.
TheCrazy58 - July 25, 2006 07:33 PM (GMT)
I have to agree that Milan got off quite lightly. Wonder why
One good thing to come out of this - hopefully this means Real Marketing won't get their grubby hand on Kaka; nor Manure on Gattuso and Pirlo will stay too.
Other implications? - will Buffon-to-Milan deal be resurrected?/ if Milan can now hope for the CL income, who'll they get to replace Chavchenko? - Crespo, van Horseface, Trez or Ibrahimovic?/ Will Fiorentina sell Toni now? (though I know this story was around before the original verdict was passed)........
TheCrazy58 - July 31, 2006 09:19 PM (GMT)
Juventus want 28mil Euros for Ibrahimovic :yikes:
http://www.bravo.co.uk/footballitalia/news...l.php?n=576&p=1And Serie A won't start until Sept 10th before they can sort themselves out

I can't see Ibrahimovic thinking that a move to Sp*ds would be a move in the right direction, can you?
