Title: Pang Tong
Description: Fledgling Phoenix

Reached_Demon - February 18, 2006 05:36 PM (GMT)
Figuerd it went here since i'm going to be talking about his move set, rather than his history.

--------------

Anyways, anyone who's played as him, he has a crazy move set, plus his musou has got to be the most effective. There's his C4 in which he jumps in a hand stand and spins his staff around him...crazy. Anyways, anyone agree?

LaserZero - February 19, 2006 06:32 PM (GMT)
I haven't really checked. I like his Jump charge attack though.. He's riding he staff for a short period of time.

Jin - February 19, 2006 08:31 PM (GMT)
I don't really like using him, many of his charges can be interupted easily. I also hate the way his square string looks.

Minion - February 19, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
He's alright. I find him funny sometimes, but no one I'd like to play as on a daily basis. His weapon strike isn't too good, but his jump charge attack is great.

Dragoon - February 19, 2006 10:46 PM (GMT)
He is one of my favorite characters to use, I like his quirkyness but most of all his musou is extremely effective and a crowd clearer

Ouji Shingen - February 20, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
He's a fun guy.

Ceruleanraven - February 20, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
i like his moves and all, but i hate how some of them run... like pang tong, i find myself using his air charge attack to get around because it looks way better, he runs like an old man... bothers me.

Its confusing actually, he runs like an old man yet does backflips in his C2.
anyway, i guess if he had a better stance and looked different while in motion, i'd be more inclined to use him.

If we're talking about who's the real DW old man, then it would have to be Zhang Jiao. Ever seen the end of his C3? It's a shockwave-emitting spasm!

Anyway. I like his C1. His orb is different from everyone else's, and the effect is hilarious.

Reached_Demon - February 20, 2006 05:25 AM (GMT)
I swear his moves are the best for clearing crowds.

You must be referring to his Musou. ;)
If so, Meng Huo has a similar ability, let me remind you. It's just a lot stronger, in my opinion.
But I liked Pang Tong back in DW3. His C1 looked awesome back then.

What did it look like? o_O

Ouji Shingen - February 20, 2006 07:08 AM (GMT)
He slammed the bottom of his staff to the ground and then it flashed from side to side. It was quick. It's a bad description--it's hard to describe and has nothing to do with me being a person who can't describe things very well. ;)

Sounds kinda cool. At first in DW5 when I saw his C1 I thought he coughed up a green hairball.

Dw_Angel - February 20, 2006 10:08 AM (GMT)
lol

NobuNaga - February 20, 2006 06:48 PM (GMT)
A rather shrewed character in my opinion.
But none the less I prefer his 6th charge attack.

Hellfire - February 20, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
I always liked his true musou in DW3,good crowd control if you ask me.
Haven't really used him on DW5 yet though.

Zhang Jiao's 1st charge is quite the same but i like useing Pang in DW3

Lu Huang - February 21, 2006 01:51 AM (GMT)
I like Pang Tong soo much!
He is my first char when I play my first dynasty game, my second char is Gan Ning.
I like musou with big distance and a big power!!
He is cool, calm and intelligent...but I NEVER SEE YOUR FACE!!

LaserZero - February 21, 2006 10:31 AM (GMT)
I never got fund of Pang Tong, for me he was yet another human shield. Though in 5 he was quite entertaining.

Quinny - February 22, 2006 06:10 PM (GMT)
He doesn't really have moves for taking out crowds but he's pretty good as a 1 on 1 duelist. But not all-out attacking, better for tactical offense. He's probably the closest there is to Tai Chi fighting style where it's about grace and not force.

Dave - March 19, 2006 07:50 AM (GMT)
totally true but i like him hes cool and hes gotta a great mousou

virsago_mk2 - August 30, 2006 02:42 PM (GMT)
Dunno right or not, his C1 seems to be Unblockable... I love to spam it near helpless lone general till' death.

pink_hchan - September 2, 2006 07:54 PM (GMT)
He's a cool character. My cousin played him and I like the unique attacks. But I haven't read so much about him.

suntzuofzhou - September 3, 2006 12:21 AM (GMT)
i like the way he sound suprised when he defeats an officer.

same here, man. he's also my first character to use when i got the game. but yeu ying is my second favourite character.
His moves are really good. and unpredictable in a controllable way (unlike Zhang He.)

virsago_mk2 - September 3, 2006 05:42 AM (GMT)
Well I found that the only abusable for Pang Tong are just C1, C3 tap once & Musou.

Enemies always sucker for C1. Last hit of C3 sometimes can goes back of the enemies, also good for musou fill.
For musou, well you know all. Most devastating musou ever. Try this, 10 sec Musou pick up, Musou, activate musou rage immediately, True Musou. Chaos Lu Bu dead within less than 30 seconds.

Azumi - September 3, 2006 01:10 PM (GMT)
Pang Tong is fun ^^
I like him, not my fav. character, but he's ok.
His moveset is not the best in crowds, but his musou will probably kill every single enemy around him, that rocks ^^

Personnaly, i also like his Jump Attack, and i mean the one when he is flying on his staff, funny :)

He's a nice character, nothing wrong with, but just not the first choise for most people.

O and by the way, i was talking about DW 5 here, in DW4 he cant fly on his staff, there they all smash in the ground, but i think you will all know that :)

Shizu - September 3, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
He is weird....

SlickSlicer - September 3, 2006 02:54 PM (GMT)
He's my best Shu character. I had him maxed out with the best weapon and good items (mostly for musou!) on Dynasty Warriors 5. Then I had fun pwning on that 'Battle of the Book' level against Zhang Jiao and Zuo Ci. It was actually surprisingly hard, though Pang Tong can clear anything with that godly musou attack of his...

Mai - January 25, 2007 12:56 AM (GMT)
Pang Tong is a funny character and I dont mean funny looking which is what I like about him. His musou makes up for most of his attacks which are pretty weak. I think he is a good decent character all around.

Chaos - February 10, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
Anyone with a staff sucks to me.

I like his Musou though.

Hail Fledgeling Phoenix, Huzzah!!!

Pang Tong is very admirable and definitely, SURELY he is a magician, his attire includes robes as well as a wizard's hat and staff. He also covers his face a lot reflecting mystery and secrets (or possibly a reference to the novel where it was mentioned Sun Quan disliked his so-called uglyface and so poor Pang Tong flew to Shu, what a biased ruler! He's no prize either I think hehe). Finally the way he speaks and gestures so loftily yet wisely, taking life easily in a way reminds me of sorcerers who are above mortal ways and seek greater things...(yes I'm a huge Pang Tong fan and may extrapolate a wee bit...)Another way to prove his mystic ways is the campaign where gasp! He contends for the book of the Way of Peace with *horrors* Zhang Jiao and Zuo Chi definitely prooves him as a talented wizard!!!

Gamewise how can anyone resist staffsurfing? That's a hilarious and creative move! Also the combo where he rolls around is very good and is one of the best for me cause he becomes harder to hit as a small crunched up ball and the final blow hits and stuns everyone around him. That's surely offense and defense at the same time. And finally his musou, may not appear very original but it works wonders when combined with the aforementioned combo...stunning a general with the las hit and then immediately musouing the poor sap is a shoe in for a flawless ko most of the time!

Hail Pang Tong, you definitely measure up to the fanboys anytime, anywhere!!!

Acid Knives - March 19, 2007 11:03 PM (GMT)
I'm not very fond of him, I like his personality but his moveset is rather weak.

draineroflife72 - March 19, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
Hmm...Pang Tong....Overall he is a very good character. His normal attack is a little bit off, but thats nothing to sneeze at. His attacks , especially his musou attack are good for hitting specific enemies, and if you have full musou 10 seconds then that'd turn out to be a good attack. His jump charge attack is one of my favourites since you can move faster.Yep, he's good, I can tell you that.

Ze_Fledging_Phoenix - March 20, 2007 06:31 AM (GMT)
Pang Tong is in my opinion, the best character in the game, he has the best muosu move for clearing crowds, he has some fun moves, and its easy to get around with his jumping charge attack

Cao Pi - March 20, 2007 06:05 PM (GMT)
Pang Tong is okay, but he isn't brilliant in my opinion. He ahs the best musou yes, but all his other moves are seriously weak, he didn't seem to have much of a story, Chi Bi and attacking Liu Zhang were his only real 'fights'. He's wind orb is pretty funny when it hits the enemy though :D

LittleDragonZ - April 23, 2007 09:56 PM (GMT)
I am not really a fan of his, although I do like his tone of voice when he speaks and his humour. ^_^
Him and Ma Chao were my younger brothers favourites back in Dynasty Warriors 3 and Xtreme Legends.

My brother stopped playing the series when Dynasty Warriors 4 had arrived, although he did have a go at it and the others later on, but was never and still is not into it as much as I was and am.

Deicidal King Of Darkness - April 26, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
His moveset is a slightly weird one, but his musou and True musou rock. "I guess I'll give this a shot.", that quote is classic.

I like the cutscene in which he dies in Dynasty Warriors 3, as the dialogue in it is quite something in my opinion. :)
