Title: Choice to "Defect" during battle
Description: DW/SW/Bladestorm
Hanzo Hattori - July 14, 2008 04:31 PM (GMT)
I am wondering if this might be more appropriate in the "Ideas" forum...
But anywho, say you are playing any DW/SW game or for that matter any Koei-based game such as the warriors series and Bladestorm. During game play, say you wipe out everyone at Anegawa in SW2 but the last couple generals you need to win (Nagamasa Azai and Yoshikaga Asakura) on the Oda-Tokugawa...
Say you defeat just about everyone of their generals, you can choose to defect and confirm to defection in the middle of the battle by pressing like SELECT or something, and you can then defeat Nobunaga Oda and Ieyasu to win, and you can gain basically the experience from the other generals who were just your allies just moments ago, defeat them, and win the stage.
The only change is, when you defect, all of the unique generals in the stage say something along the line of you being like a traitor, and when generic officers approach you, they will say something like "I will end you traitor!".
This would be a lot of fun to utilize and you could experiment with it in each statge. Opinions?

You can defect in DW5XL Destiny mode. When you get an offer to betray your commander, all you gotta do is lure him to the ambush point and voila... instant defection :)
IIf they add this in Musou/Free mode, then you should only be able to defect with some characters at certain stages, like Pang Tong at Chi Bi (serving Cao Cao, chain the ships and defect), or Jiang Wei at Tian Shui

I think this would be a cool idea. But only if it's in free mode or you are using a CAW. Because if it's say... Cao Cao at Hu Lao Gate, it'll mess up the rest of his story mode.
But I agree with phoenix that you should be able to defect in some battles. Otherwise it'll just mess things up.

i was thinking this too.... well dynasty it would be harder, cause that would confuse the story alot, for samurai warriors it would make more that one scenireo that would be cool, but un historical, but i dont care much about taht anyway so i think we should have the oppiition and alsos have the missions tat were in samurai warriors 1 back, i went back and so far that smy fav, out of the koei games

Free mode only ... after defecting, you would be facing your old allies who have built up morale which could provide for a decent free mode battle.
Throw in a few hyper officers/commanders and that would be just awesome B)

I think that it would work best with CAW in an Empires game... There could be a separate mode to play in called Ronin Mode where you could be approached in the middle, or just before, the battle. You coudl start out by playing for a certain lord and the computer plays as the general, sometiems asking you for advice or something like that. You coudl maybe even chose in CAW to have ninja training and be placed in a kingdom to spy on the lord there and have to report back to your own lord. If you get caught by someone you'd have to fight them! The more I think about this the cooler it sounds! :D

I was thinking the exact same thing, for Free mode it would be fine, but obviously in Musou mode it would be pretty pointless, and basically a suicide mission.
Although in Empires when you are allies with two territories attacking each other it would be quite hilarious to be able to switch sides there too. Start on the defence for one side and as they are losing switch to the other to allow their attack to be successful and get even more money for nothing.
Enemies already have defect conditions in Empires after all, so it would certainly be nice to also have that option.

I think so, I’ll move it there. :)

I wonder if this could've been added to SW2:XL Mercenary Mode
Allow you to switch allegiances with daimyos mid-battle :ph43r:

Hmmm...It would be funny to defect in your main camp XD
Just kill the commander and be done with it...
God-Like Phoenix - July 15, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
ahh, thankyou, ive been wanting this idea for so long, to be able to just switch sides as you please, and just make it harder for yourself ;)
it would be really fun to, switch side around midway through the battle, kill off almost all of that army, switch back(if they let you) and them kill the rest of the other army...its a win-win

Keep switching sides, and let the talk spam go mad!
Hanzo Hattori - July 15, 2008 02:14 PM (GMT)
hahaha some very good ideas!
But yes, the Free Mode would be the better choice. I would limit that "defection button" to one time per battle, as you couldn't clan hop (well, I suppose you could, but...). However, I have an idea which could mirror this.
If the character/player wanted to switch back to the other side, then you would be up against both armies, as they are now both against you for your treacherous act of defecting in the first place and such. Your enemies would turn all red on the battlefield, instead of friendly blue or neutral yellow.

i think they should have red (main army), a yellow (secound army), green (betrated army). i would think they shouldnt let you go back and forth, but yeah in empires i think that would be a better idea, and maybe free mode, but it would be vary fun, your fighting two armies, and then you betray them, so techniquly your fighting all three, but who ever you dont finish off first you can join, might be a good fun fight, like keji, going from oda, to solo against everyone....... very fun,
Hanzo Hattori - July 17, 2008 03:09 PM (GMT)
Koei should really get on the horn with this.
It really would be a great feature. I can see it now on the back side of the game case box...
**"Defect and betray your allies to serve another lord instantly in Free Mode!"**
**"More characters and more stories!"**

Doing this on WO :), as the faction has been broken as well..

Any Warrior games.
Well I have been wanting something like this for a very long time but it has never happened. =(
I thought it would be really awesome if Player 1 and Player 2 can play the opposite Force.
Perhaps making Player 1 to choose the stage, or advance the story mode, then Player 2 could select the officers he/ she wanted to use FROM the list available.
Perhaps a time penalty could be imposed to the defeated player?
I do not know if this is workable but, I guess..
EDIT~ My apologies. I just notice my post is off-topic. Sorry about that.

here my point of view for each mode or game type:
musou mode: useless cause your like totally scrapping the history unless you are on special stage like other member said and that you are pangtong or jiang wei
Free mode: there is no way to give a definition of the coolnest that would be ^_^ i think it would be great cause in case your are dying you can save your live - and like other member said extra EXP ^^ or just for the fun of cleanning up the battlefield so there is only remaining the two commander in each camp XD
Empire: useless cause if you take your favorite character and defect then your favorite character gonna be in the other army cause the way empire work is that if you chose a commander, before starting the conquering thingy, well you alway control him even when some officier defect to other army you control his territory and him whit his army
SW2XL ronin: like other member said it would be great to join a force then defect the defect again so that you are alone agaisnt evrybody...that would be just way too awesome ^_^
