Title: Bayonetta
Description: From the creater of Devil May Cry

zacattack214 - July 31, 2008 04:05 PM (GMT)
Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe and director of Okami, has started work on a new project, Bayonetta. It's hack-and-slash game similar to Devil May Cry but starring a female witch hunting down demons masquerading as angels. A trailer (as seen on the first website below) and a demo were unveiled at E3 2008. Just thought I would spread the world for those who don't know, becuase it looks and sounds really promising. The second site is a gamespot impression of the demo, which details some of the interesting features of the game. The demo has not yet been released to the public.

The gfx look pretty crazy, but.... the name doesn't seem to suit it =X

Thanks for sharing~

zacattack214 - July 31, 2008 07:51 PM (GMT)
Yeah I thought the name was pretty lame too, too bad BulletWitch is already taken.

Seems interesting. Being a huge DMC fan I gotta see this one. I'll be keepin my eyes on it and seeing how good will it turn out. Hope it's not crap.

Jin - July 31, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
I was just reading about this game yesterday and ALMOST made a topic about it too.

I love hack n slash period. ^_^

EDIT
I'm just going to post random facts I read in EGM Magazine (these aren't "exact" words):

-The names of Bayonetta's guns are Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme. -Together, they're known as Scarborough Fair.
-Bayonetta wields 4 guns: 2 in her hands and 2 on her feet.
-Enemies drop weapons, which she can pick up and use for a limited time. Includes a tuba which can be used as a bazooka.
-When she jumps or double-jumps, gossamer butterfly wings temporarily sprout from her back. When she lands, dozens of tiny butterflies appear at her feet.
-Her outfit isn't leather--it's magical hair that covers her entire body, and is used in her attacks. She'll become more and more unclothed as she uses these hair attacks. The most powerful ones render her almost completely nude.
-Similar to how DMC used red orbs, Bayonetta features angel halos as currency, used to power up weapons, unlock skills, or buy items.
-When Bayonetta fires her guns, the bullets ricochet off walls, causing additional damage to nearby enemies.
-Bayonetta's most powerful attacks summon a giant, slithering hair dragon or a giant, hair stilleto heel out of the sky to stomp on her enemies. You have to enter specific button commands to summon the hair monster, adding an element of skill.
-When one of these summons exits the area, it's punctuated by the appearance of purple sparkles.

That's only half of the info. I'll post more later.

The whole concept sounds outlandish and horribly dumb.
A HAIRY woman.

Game'll prolly be fun though but damn....it does SOUND terrible. :P

Blue_Eyes_Oni - August 1, 2008 05:27 AM (GMT)
She strips as she fight. I'm sold.

I guess we have to wait till TGS to see some gameplay footage or at least a new trailer. I hope we could see something at the gameshow in Europe.

Crimsondramon - August 1, 2008 05:29 AM (GMT)
I read about this game somewhere...seems interesting, but I'll wait for a trailer of some sort before deciding on anything.

SHE STRIPS AS SHE FIGHT?! OMG. Might get this for that reason XD

Devilsking - August 1, 2008 05:49 AM (GMT)
So the game is abobut boobs, guns and hair.

Well I like to out of those three things ^_^

zacattack214 - August 1, 2008 06:19 PM (GMT)
 her outfit is hair? didn't hear that. well, that's weird... (i can kinda see it though in the screen at the top of the page) it sounds like just an excuse to show her naked. <_< i can just picture a sailor moon sequence now. only she is really nerdy looking (IMO) she has librarian glasses and a beehive hairdo.

nice face though, besides the glasses ^_^

by the way the guns on her feet are like on her shoes, but she can shoot them because she's a witch, and she's just rad like that. B)

Little Grey > Other monkeys :P
(Sorry just saw Space Chimps and I didn't expect to read this.

That's it I AM GETTING IT!!!!!

ShinUsagi87 - August 1, 2008 08:20 PM (GMT)
At first I was like "Meh" but then I read about how here outfit is pretty much a bunch of strands of hair which make her progressively nude as she uses it and was sold.

Seirio - August 2, 2008 07:52 PM (GMT)
Plenty more info here.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329767

But if you don't like using links or don't want to see pics of the angel enemies, then here. This was copied and pasted.

The names of Bayonetta's guns are Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme.Together, they're known as Scarborough Fair.

• Enemies drop weapons, which Bayonetta can pick up and use for a limited time. One of this is a tuba, wich functions as a bazooka.

• When Bayonetta jumps or double-jumps, gossamer butterfly wings temporarily sprout from her back. When she lands, dozens of tiny butterflies appear at her feet.

• Bayonetta's outfit isn't actually leather despite the stitching you see in the CG art - It's magical hair that covers her entire body, and it's used in her attacks. The most powerful ones render her almost completely nude.

• Similar to how Devil May Cry used red orbs, Bayonetta features angel halos as currency, wich you use to power up your weapons, unlock skills, or buy items.

• When Bayonetta fires her guns, the bullets ricochet off walls, causing additional damage to nearby enemies.

• Bayonetta's most powerful attacks summon a giant, smoky dragon or a giant, smoky stiletto heel out of the sky to stomp on her enemies. But again, it's not smoke that surrounds these summons - It's a hair. So, yes, that dragon is a giant, slithering hair dragon, and that stiletto heel is a giant, sexy hair boot. You have to enter specific button commands in order to summon the hair monster, though, adding an element of skill.

• When one of these powerful summons exits the area, it's punctuated by the appearence of purple sparkles.

• Control comes in the form of a shoot button, a punch butto, and a kick button. But you can purchase others, stronger combinations.

• Bayonetta uses "Witch Time" - Bayonetta's sense become especially accute, and the environment (and enemies) around her slows down.

• Sometimes, an onscreens button prompt appears during combats, wich means it's time to mash buttons in order to inflict extra damage on an enemy.Tapping the button fast enough results in over-the-top supermoves - such as guillotinedropping from the sky on your enemy (with predictable results) - called Torture Attacks.

• Bayonneta ahs a spinning jump attack that fires her guns in 360 degrees. She can also perform a handstand and aim the guns on her feet at enemies.

• Bayonneta also wields a katana, but Platinum Games won't reveal the name yet.You can charge this blade for a more powerful attack, which causes a heart to appear on the pommel. The heart beats as you charge it up, and dark fumes billow from the sword.

• More weapons will be added and revealed closer to the game's release. Each weapon has a monster spirit, which makes it stronger, and the context of the combat situation dictates which hairy summon appears.

• Miniboss battle: Angelic foe at the end of Big Little City zone. It's got some huge attacks courtesy of its giant two-handed ax - and this baddie pauses for a dramatic split second with every swing.Luckily, Bayonetta can jump over these attacks with or without Witch Time.Humorously, the giant miniboss has pathetically tiny angel wings, gold piercings, and the requisiet angel's halo.

• A fine mist covers the ground during the miniboss battle, designed to create a "holy atmosphere".The battle ends with an onscreen button prompt, which summons a giant hair dragon who bites the angel miniboss in half.

• The reward for besting this miniboss is a gold record with the descriptor "Angel Singing Voice" but we're not sure whether it unlocks a music track or some other feature.

• Bayonetta has a huge chain and sickle that she uses for both ground-based and airbone attacks.

• The right trigger button on the Xbox 360 controller shoots.Yuo can equip all four guns at once, or you can opt to swap out the pistols in her hands with the sword and use the guns on her feets as well.Certain weapons are specifically designed to be equipped on her hands, feet, or both.

• Bayonetta has been in development stages for a year and half - work started a little after Okami shipped.

• As Bayonetta attacks the enemy angel forces, she breaks of layers of their outer armor.

So info is old since its copied and pasted.

Jin - August 4, 2008 09:05 PM (GMT)
I already posted much of that, Seirio. Some of the wording is exactly the same! Well I guess I won't post anymore info now that almost all of it has been posted.

Don't think that you're the best video game info giver on KW. That would be BlackKite. And I already beat you here.

Seirio - August 4, 2008 11:08 PM (GMT)
Actually there was some new info. And I did just say that was copy and pasted from the site I linked in the above post XD

One example being the Witch Time, wielding a katana, and such.

And if that info that you posted came from you. Then im sure you got it from the site I posted. And why not post it after such a long time?

Changed my siggy to reflect how I feel about my position as a KW videogame newsgiver.

I don't see Blackkite on that much so I wouldn't know.

I already said I got that info from EGM magazine.

He's on all the time!

Seirio - August 5, 2008 02:24 AM (GMT)
He is? Huh...well thats probably because I don't see him post here much.

And remeber, I got this info from a site that probably got it from EGM also. And also remember, I copied and pasted, I even said so. They got it word for word probably or they stole it from you. XD

Also, lets not start this into a flame war. I don't really like flameing because

1. I don't like flameing
2. I don't want people to lfame at me
3. I don't know how to flame. :P

Jorgh - August 5, 2008 10:02 AM (GMT)
I can't wait to play this game. Everything I've heard about it sounds pretty damn spiffy. I really love Bayonetta's design too. She's not your usual generic female character. She looks awesome. Especially her hair <3 and I think using her hair as a weapon is pretty should be pretty interesting.

zacattack214 - October 7, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
 She does look like Sarah Palin.

Here is a clip of ingame footage and a few new scans. No combat yet, but the graphics look pretty. Palin attack! Haha

I'm a bit dissapointed about the campy style, but I can get over it.
