Title: Which is your favorite DW series?
LittleDragonZ - August 1, 2008 10:58 PM (GMT)
Not including DW1 because it really wasn't a series nor I doubt Koei would be as popular without changing the system in 2. Besides, I doubt anyone would vote for it to be honest with you (compared to the other DW games.)
So you can count the XL games in their respective areas, etc.
My choice would easily be for Dynasty Warriors 3. Maybe because I was younger? I'm not sure how much relies on that factor. But the music was awesome, the gameplay was awesome and just the game was so much fun to play in general.

Same as me, I grew up with it. Not exactly just that but DW2 as well. And I doubt I would still be here if DW3 was not amazing and didn't have such an impact on me to become a major fan of the series. So I guess the choice relies heavily on your youth at the time to a certain extent. Ah, the memories...
So you chose Dynasty Warriors 6?
Yoshitsune Minamoto - August 2, 2008 03:35 PM (GMT)
My Choice would definitively go to Dynasty Warriors 4XL.
I loved Dynasty warriors 3 at the first time i have played that game, but when i had 4XL, i liked even more, and thats when i started to love DW as my favorite game. :)
The reasons are obvious, i loved all the histories, characters. And i spend some "Worth Hours" in the mini games, VS, and Co-oP.
Like you said Zhao Yun: The time of our Youth was the most important one ;)

I'd go for DW4 there.
DW2 was awesome, maps were terrific. But there is no Multi Player mode, and not much character + low replayability value.
DW3 was great too, it's my second favourite one. I loved the difficutly in it and the stages. One thing I didn't like about it, as in DW2, it had the old combo system with only one charge in an attack.
DW4 was the greatest IMO. Stages were alot and great. Characters were awesome, movesets were fixed, new characters were great additions, and the difficulty was great too. Not to mention the very high replayability value.
DW5 was a very poor one IMO. A great fall in the story, very easy and boring to power up the characters. Music was... fair? nothing too catchy. And the most thing I hated in it, was the low number of stages.
DW6, I didn't play it fully but so far, it's at least better than DW5 and you can get used to the Renbu system fast. Things I hated in it were the short cutscenes, not all the new weapons were good and no unique movesets for some characters. But the skill tree and the strategy factor added alot to the game IMO.
fledgling phoenix - August 2, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
DW5 for me.
When i bought DW4, i found it pretty addicting and a lot of fun too. DW5 may not have that many improvements, and less stages, but it was even better.
I liked it that they introduced the base system from DW4E in it. Although it should have been more expanded, like they did in Destiny mode with 4 guard captains and 3 gate captains. But it did make the fights a lot more interesting when you faced an officer in one of those bases.
Of the new characters, i really liked Pang De, Zuo Ci and Ling Tong. The new designs of the characters where great, and they kept the DW4 outfits too (some of them were great, like Zhou Tai and Zhen Ji).
I may or may not buy DW6, unless they bring Pang De, Zuo Ci and the Nanman back. I just hope that the XL expansion will bring more stages and uniqueness to the game.
Fayt - August 2, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
For me it's a real toss up between DW3 & DW5.
Dynasty Warriors 3 I felt is the game that really put these Warriors games on the map, it was the first time many of the most important parts we still love today were included, most importantly 2 player mode.
Although, I felt DW5 was the 'most complete' of them so far, a massive range of characters with unique narrated story lines was excellent. And I guess it's now the 'final' type of the old style characters we will see now.
I'm more of the 'if it's not broken, don't fix it type', and I love how DW5 kept building up from DW2 with additional features and improvements along the way.
Jasonic - August 2, 2008 10:31 PM (GMT)
This is a hard choice for me, as DW2 was the most memorable for me. I played it the most and was most addicted to. The moves were simple and the graphics werent that great, but the levels were fantastic IMO. They were hard and just had great feel to them, and I remember then all perfectly.
DW3 was a much improvement in the series, as a lot of things were added. But the difficulty was lowed IMO.
DW4 was a good game, as it added Zhou Tai :D , I kind of liked how they split up some levels, but having the team musou mode style I did not like. But the difficulty of this game was harder, with the level to capture Meng Huo was the hardest.
DW5 might have seemed a bit easier. But it had everything, 48 characters, unique weapons for everyone, a story for everyone, and of cource it had the best Ma Chao to date.
DW6, was a good first next gen try, but of cource the game was incomplete. The Renbu was fun to play with, but they still have not found a moveset system that goes perfect, I dont know, maybe they should just go back to past movesets or maybe SW style.
So im going to go with DW5, with DW2 comes in second.
Gtown - August 2, 2008 10:43 PM (GMT)
I voted DW4 with DW3 in a close second. I really enjoyed it the most out of all of them. It still had great stages and cool maps. Plus there was the fact that Kingdom mode was my favorite type of musou mode. And I miss the air charges which I think is what knocked DW5 down on the list for me. And not to mention how godly lightning and shura element were in this. Plus, it was still very challenging, aggravatingly so at times, but more of a challenge than DW5 IMO.
Sun Wukong - August 2, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)
DW4 is one of my worst why is it so popular?

I just like it better than DW5. The addition of Guan Ping is the best thing about DW5 to me. Other than that, I think DW4 is just better.
LittleDragonZ - August 2, 2008 10:47 PM (GMT)
Please refrain from saying its the worst when this is just a topic to get peoples honest opinions and not debate or say he or she is right or wrong. Thanks Sun Wukong!
(no need to reply mate ;) )

Because everyone's preferences are different, as would be the time they got introduced to the series.
Personally, I'm not a fan of DW4, however I'm very impressed with all 3 characters it introduced to the series. Cao Ren, Zhou Tai & Yue Ying, whom I believe are all extremely important to the franchise.
Skode - August 4, 2008 12:33 AM (GMT)
Never played DW2 but have done the rest of the series including GUNDAM and for me the best was DW3. I still have such great memories of the game and of all the games it was the one i found the most fun yet challenging solo and co-op.
Obelisk - August 4, 2008 01:45 AM (GMT)
I was prone to say DW3 but I voted DW5 instead. The reason is because even though I loved DW3 as it was my first DW game I just don't think it was as good as DW5. I loved everything about DW5.The new characters were my favorite part as Pang De is one of if not my favorite character. I also loved the designs of all of the levels and I thought all of the characters had great movesets. DW6 just doesn't cut it for me.
Muffin Vacation - August 11, 2008 04:01 PM (GMT)
It's between 3 or 5 for me, a tough one. 3 was the one that really got me hooked in the series and quite honestly the voice acting is hilarious in it and became pretty legendary for me; plus it helped me to get to know all of the characters (something that DW4 was severly lacking in). Yet if I played it now the gameplay doesn't seem as good as 5 yet there's a lot of little quirks 5 simply doesn't have that 3 did. I suppose I will have to go with 3 as since playing WO, DW 5 simply doesn't hold up anymore, yet 3 can still bring a smile to my face whether it be for the right reasons or not.
3 is a legened for some many reasons in my mind, not least for hearing "Break the siege of the Yellow TUrbans! Humble the rebeles!" 50 million times as I started the Yellow Turban Rebllion to test out a newly acquired lv4 weapon!
Shino Ito - August 18, 2008 03:49 PM (GMT)
for me the absolute fave was DW4 mainly cuz of the musou mode it was way longer than DW5 and it the difficulty was harder cuz on 5 i can play with a starting character on hard no prob but on four u gotta play on normal for a bit and i didn't vote for 6 cuz of all the cloning and lack of content
Lubu5176 - August 22, 2008 07:09 PM (GMT)
DW3 is my all time favorite because i love to play as Fu Xi and Nu Wa
Danieru - August 22, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
Heh, for is DW5 cause its the only one i ever played :P , but still has more characters specially Cao Pi and super broken Ling Tong
SnowMan - August 22, 2008 07:20 PM (GMT)
DW4 for me. It's the game that started it all for me, and to this day I love it just as much as I did when I first bought it.
The music, the character's costumes, the maps, the VAs, and just about everything else is IMO superior to anything KOEI has put out before or since. Kingdom Musou Mode was really fun as well. I really liked that aspect of the game. Not to mention, this is the game that has "Yellow Turban Menace" & "Yellow Turban Fortress", 2 of my favorite battles in the entire franchise.
I thought DW2 was meh, I liked DW3, and I love the rest of the franchise.
Xtreme Legend Rossy - August 23, 2008 08:04 AM (GMT)
DW3 EASY for me!!
i honestly worked up over 300 hours on 3/xl easy! loved it!! epic lvls, awesome 4th/5th weapons, great range of items, and one of the best things that has been missing from DW games since is the top ten kill count/time/points ladder!! i rekon that added alot to replay value i for one liked to beat my kill count on ever lvl i did!
for me i rekon it was the toughest too, play any lvl on chaos mode even Han yellow turban and it made it as hard as the toughest lvls in the game! Easierly my most played and loved DW game!
heeh would love for 3 to get a updated remake :P
cruger2984 - August 23, 2008 08:07 AM (GMT)
DW6 is my vote becuase it has some cool graphics and awesome gameplay. Too bad I've got a bit serious.
wu_tiger - August 24, 2008 01:39 AM (GMT)
DW3 FTW, no doubt about it, the best one, the add of so many characters and great levels, and all the cutscenes you want with every single character who wouldnt love tha???

Wei-Yan - August 24, 2008 01:43 AM (GMT)

although its followed closly by dw5 and dw2
Marwaha - September 3, 2008 12:50 PM (GMT)
Dynasty Warriors 3 was the best for me
4 was the worst
5 was a disappointment
and 6 could have been great, but they spoilt it by rushing it
and 2 was a good starter
SnowDragon - September 3, 2008 01:01 PM (GMT)
Well i start with DW4 Hyper and felt in love with the series...than buy DW5 also on PC...love the DW4 a lot because in DW5 seems less stages...waiting for DW6 Special for PS2 since in my country PS3 cost a lot!!
Tadakatsu-Lu Bu - September 5, 2008 02:30 AM (GMT)
I'd say its Dynasty warriors 3 (Even though my disc is broken) because its dark element is strong and the fire.

I agree completely with these two. Exactly the same

Dynasty Warriors 3.It's the first Dynasty Warriors game I played(or rather it's expansion was the first),so it holds a special place.
Lord_Adviser - September 5, 2008 11:50 AM (GMT)
DW4 (Hyper)! I just loved Zhou Tai with Tengu Costume :)
wish in DW7 they'll bring back it as i WON'T buy DW6
Jiang Lu - September 11, 2008 02:29 AM (GMT)
DW3. The first one I got. The best one I got.
Other than the game-breaking archers.

6 was great but the renbu system ruined it so I say DW5...Best one yet. =D
Lord_Lu_Bu - September 24, 2008 06:56 AM (GMT)
DW3 is my favorite DW game ever, DW5 is in second place.
I think DW3 had the best AI in the series.
KoeiPrincess - September 30, 2008 12:34 PM (GMT)
I actually love all Dynasty Warriors series including the Warriors Oraochi. DW has quite a lot of great characters especially their costumes... Nice fashion! I wonder if the world became crazy, many people wore fantasy costumes like DW characters'. amazing though
